Name: Adette Belle Jeffries
Adette is such a pretty name!Plot: Adette lives in an alternate version of Earth called Orenda (which is a word that is defined as the desire to change and/or make an impression on the world... which is actually how someone from either side can be transported to the alternate world— it is a little complicated, haha). It is a modern world like earth, pretty much all the same states, continents, countries, and cities but with a few warped things. The largest thing that sets it apart from Earth is that magical versions of people live in Orenda. Witches, wizards, fairies, dragons, mermaids, you name it! Adette comes from a family of Empaths (essentially they can understand, perceive, and/or replicate the deepest and truest emotions of the creatures and people around them), and she is 'chosen'— you could call it, to attend one of the most prestigious and well-developed schools known throughout her world when she turns fourteen. She is stoked until she runs into a human boy who breeched through the worlds, a rare but common case that happens. Hence it begins a complicated journey of not only struggling with beginning her magical future, but also introducing this boy to her world while simultaneously trying to get him back where he belongs. Back to Earth.
Oh my goodness, I am so intrigued! Is this up on your profile yet?Age: 14 to 18 (I aim for it to be a series ^-^)
Race: American, Empath.
Background: Adette grew up with a fairly normal life for a magical being in Orenda. She lived in a townhouse in Kingston, New York. At the age of two she was already learning how to use her emotions to communicate with the people around her, and from then on her parents worked on homeschooling her to gain a basic level of control over her powers as she grew and developed with them. At seven she could tell exactly what the people around her were feeling, and occasionally empathetically feel a fleeting thought along with the mood. (That's all I can give without spilling too much information ;) )
I like how her parents are working with her throughout the process, it'd be pretty cliché if they just abandoned her.Sexuality: Straight
S/O: I'm going to leave that up to the plot ;)
Oooh a mystery.Appearance:
Adette has thick, straight, ebony black hair that is often times tied back in a low ponytail with a silver ribbon. Her skin is cool-toned and fair, making her more susceptible to being burnt by the sun, and she has many freckles sprinkled across her nose, cheeks, and forehead. Her eyes are a warm brown hue, just like her mother's, and she also inherited the family's kindhearted smile. Shaped in a round fashion, her eyes are slightly upturned as well giving her a unique set of features that are neither beautifully exotic nor unattractive.
She carries herself softly, like a breeze that caresses your cheek, and Adette is known to hold herself in a way that seems welcoming, sensitive, and open-minded to the world. Her wardrobe also adds to her character and approachability, and her style is fairly comfortable and casual, while also terribly fashionable. Hinting that she has a little more about herself than meets the eye.
Cute! But are there any physical flaws? Acne?Distinguishing Features:
• She always wears a necklace with a heart charm on it (Not a feature, exactly, but something that truly distinguishes her).
• Adette has a freckle on the side of her left ring finger, which could definitely be used to identify her.
Habits/Quirks:
• Uses large words that not many people understand.
• When she is nervous, Adette becomes a horrible liar and speaks in a higher pitched voice than usual.
Ok, but actually me. I'm an open book.• She prefers to skip rather than walk normally.
Aww.• Lastly, she can't stand when people chew with their mouths open.
SAME.Self Confidence Level:
57% - Adette, despite being as lovely as she is, finds it hard to separate herself as she is from other people since she is always feeling and replicating what other people are feeling. Nevertheless she has fairly average confidence level, though she often times questions her own thoughts and actions because it is a challenge to decipher which thoughts and feelings are her own.
Aww, poor thing :( I'm glad you added that though, that's really insightful to what being an empath actually is.Ruled by Logic/Emotion: 10% logic and 90% emotion.
Same.Intro/Extra/Ambi-vert:
Adette is an Introvert, however she doesn't fit the stereotype that people often times place on introverts. She does enjoy going out, having fun with friends, and social gatherings, they simply drain her and she finds she needs to spend more time alone after those sorts of gatherings.
ME TOO GIRL.Strengths:
Empathetic- This should be fairly self-explanatory, since she can truly feel the emotions of others and it is her power to do so. It gives her a strong understanding and she tends to be extremely and highly sensitive towards the people, animals, and other living things around her.
Considerate - It also ties into her powers, because it gives her this sixth sense of where other people are and how they are temperamentally. It is her strong suit.
Dedicated - Once you get to know her, like really get to know her, Adette will become the most dedicated and loyal person you could possibly know. She always has other people on her mind, and though she can't do anything about it, she uses it to her advantage.
Weaknesses:
Hesitant- A downside she faces to always being aware of others is never being aware of herself. This leads to her hesitating with big decisions and constantly questioning her actions.
Passive - It's challenging for the ebony-haired girl to face confrontation and issues with people head on, and it also has to do with her own personal beliefs since she dislikes being rude or harsh towards anyone.
Too Complex - it is ironically hard for people to empathize and understand empaths, which makes Adette appear like a lost case due to the fact that she doesn't fully know herself thus people can never fully know her.
I'm actually in love with this idea! It takes quite a lot for people to understand others anyways, but empaths merely reflect what you're feeling, so it could be quite hard to understand them and their own emotions.Finicky/Perfectionist - She tends to fuss over the little things and can appear to be a little prissy and too concerned with details.
I like that she's a perfectionist, just make sure you'll be able to write this into the story smoothly, as it can be hard to do.Constructive Criticism: There's not too much for me to point out, except for two basic things that could be easily fixed. Her appearance seems too perfect, there's no acne, scars, or visible imperfections. The other thing I'd like to point out is that (as of right now) being a perfectionist isn't really adding anything into your story, so you might have to get rid of the trait or weave it into the story smoothly.
