Eragon POVI woke up to the small pounding in the back of my head. I forced my eyes open, only to be met by the bright light of a lantern. When I tried to sit up, I noticed that my hand was tied behind my back. I turned around and looked to Brom's and (Y/N) hands being tied behind their backs. I felt relieved since you don't tie someone's hands if they're dead. I looked at (Y/N) face and saw an uneven line of dried blood was on the side of her face and my heart ache at the sight. I turned my head around but stopped when I saw a pair of black boots appear in the corner of my eye. I lifted up my head and was met with the face of a ra'zac. I reached for my magical power and started to utter a word that could kill the ra'zac, but I stopped in surprise. I couldn't remember the word. In disbelief I tried it once again, only to feel how the word slipped out of my grasp, like water, once again. I heard a cold laugh that sent shivers down my spine above me. "So the anestethic worked huh? I don't think you'll cause any more trouble." I heard sounds to the left of me and saw in horror that the other ra'zac was putting a muzzle on Saphira. Her wings were tied to her body with black chains, and her legs had as well. I tried to reach out to her, but nothing happened. I was surprised when I saw not a single trace from Vladmir. I realised that the probably didn't see him and just saw one more big rock amongst the other two. Even if we would've had a fire going, his scales wouldn't shine or reflect the light since he was so full of dirt and mud, and trying to see him in complete darkness? You wouldn't have a chance. I focused back on the ra'zacs as one of them started to talk about Saphira. "She was very cooperative as soon as we threatened to kill you", the ra'zac hissed. He bent down by the lantern and started to dig through my bags. If they didn't see Vladmir they would just think that (Y/N) was a normal person, right? But what if they threaten to kill her and Vladmir comes out? What if he is miles away from here? I focused on the ra'zac as it took up Zar'roc from my bag. "An unusual glamourus thing for someone so... unimportant. Maybe I'll keep it." He leaned in towards me and smirked. "Or, if you behave good, maybe our master will let you polish it." His breath stank of raw meat witch almost made me gag. He turned the sword and let your a high scream when he saw the symbol on the side. His companion rushed forward. They hissed as they leaned over the sword. They then turned towards me again. "You'll surely become an excellent servant to our master." I forced forward my words even if it was difficult. "If I become that, I'll kill you." They chuckled coldly at my words. "Oh no, we are way too precious. You, on the other hand... is a usable item." Saphira growled at their words, with smoke coming out of her nostrils. The ra'zacs didn't seem find of it. They got something else to think about when Brom let out a sound and rolled over on his side. One of the ra'zacs grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him up in the air without noticeable effort. "It's starting to take off." "Give him more." "Why can't we just kill him", the smaller ra'zac said. "He has caused us a lot of pain." The bigger one ran his finger along the sword. "Not a bad idea. But remember than the king ordered us to keep them alive." "We can just tell him that he was killed during the capturing." "What about this one then?" the ra'zac said and pointed with the sword towards me. "What if he tells?" His companion laughed as he took out his dagger. "He won't dare." After a long while of silence the other one nodded. "Agreed." They dragged Brom to the middle of the camp and pushed him down on his knees. I just watched in growing fear. I need to get out of this! I pulled on the ropes, but they were too powerful to tear apart. I suddenly saw (Y/N) open her eyes and looked at me. She was about to sit up but I quickly shook my head and she listened, but gave me a questioning look. "Stop that", the taller ra'zac said and hit me a little with the sword. He sniffed in the air; something seemed to worry him. The other ra'zac growled as he pushed Brom's head backwards and dragged the knife against his neck. At the same moment I heard a low buzzing that was followed by a yell from the ra'zac. An arrow was through his shoulder. The ra'zac that was closest to me threw himself to the ground and barely avoided a second arrow. He went over to his hurt companion, and together they stared out into the darkness with angry hisses. They didn't try to stop Brom when he stood up on unsteady legs. "Get down!" I screamed at him. He moved forward towards me and (Y/N). When thr invisible attackers shot more arrows to the camp the ra'zacs rolled behind some rocks. Nothing happened for a moment, and then the arrows came from the opposite direction. The surprised ra'zacs didn't react fast enough. Their capes got holes in them on many places and an arrow differ itself into one of their arms. With a yell the smaller one fled for the road. When he passed by he gave me a hard kick in my side. After a moment if hesitation his partner picked up the dagger from the ground and ran after him. On his way out of the camp he threw the dagger towards me. I saw a light come up in Brom's eyes. With his mouth wide open in a silent grunt he threw himself in front of me. The dagger hit him with a soft thud and he fell heavily on the side. His head had no motion in it. "No!" I screamed even if I was doubled over in pain. I heard footsteps and saw a blurry image of (Y/N) sitting up, but then everything went black and I didn't notice anything else.
