(Y/N) POVI was stunned at the room we entered. It was the most elegant library I had ever seen. I barely had a chance to see it before my eyes were set on something in the far end. I could see a man standing behind a huge table.
The man was bald like the rude bald, but this man had a really nice beard. It was obvious by the way he acted that he was Ajihad. "Welcome to Tronjheim, Eragon, and Saphira", he said with a strong voice. "I am Ajihad. Please sit." Me, Eragon and Murtagh sat in different chairs while Saphira sat down behind us in a protective manner. Ajihad raised his hand and snapped with his fingers. A man stepped out from under the stairs. What took me by surprise was that he was identical to the other mean baldy. I saw Eragon stare at them and Murtagh froze. "Your confusion is understandable: they are twins", Ajihad said with a light smile. "I should tell you their names, but they don't have any." Saphira hissed in disgust. Ajihad gave her a short glance and then sat down behind the desk. I could see the twins move back behind the stairs and didn't move. I felt uncomfortable when I was in their precense.
I saw Ajihad fold his fingers together and watched us carefully. He sat like that for a long time without averting his eyes. I could see Eragon move uncomfortably in the corner of my eye. After what seemed like minutes, Ajihad put down his hands and then made a sign to the Twins. One of then hurried to him. Ajihad whispered something in his ear.
'(Y/N)?''Yes?'
'I just started to think of it, but when we first came into Farthen Dûr, the twins searched my mind.'
'Why would they do that?'
'So they could trust us. They already did it on me, and Murtagh refused.'
'What did they find?'
'They didn't find out about Vladmir if that's what you're wondering. He took the memories I had of him and about you being a Rider. He gave them back just before you woke up.'
'Why are you telling me this now?
'Because I think that they will search through your mind too. And I think that Vladmir should hide your memories.'
'Alright, alright. I'll fix this.'
'Good.' I only looked forward and saw Ajihad frown. I soon reached out for Vladmir.
'Vladmir?''(Y/N)! How long have you been awake?!'
'Only for a short while, but we'll have to talk more later. I need your help right now.'
'Who should I hurt first?!'
'It's not like that. I'm not in danger, but I need you to hide my memories.'
'Of us.'
'Yes, but you can stop hiding them later. Eragon is afraid that they'll want to search through my mind as well.'
'Alright, but be careful.'
'I will.' I suddenly felt my memories being surrounded by a shield, an invisible shield. Vladmir helped me to think about new memories of our time with Brom and Eragon.
I focused on where I was again. Ajihad was watching Murtagh. "You have put me in an unpleasant situation by refusing t get searched. We have let you in into Farthen Dûr since the Twins have reassured me that they can control you, and what you have done for Eragon and Arya. I understand that there is things in your mind that you want to hide, but we cannot trust you as long as you don't let us in." "You wouldn't trust me anyways", Murtagh answered. It seemed like Murtagh's words made Ajihad darken, and there seemed to be a dangerous look on his eyes. "There may be three years and twenty before that last reached my ear... but I recognise that voice." I couldn't read Ajihad's expression which had me worried. The twins looked terrified and whispered eagerly to one another. "It came from another man, one who was more a beast than a human. Stand up." Murtagh stood up carefully, and his gaze seemed to move only between the Twins and Ajihad. "Take off your shirt", Ajihad ordered. Murtagh took it off and shrugged his shoulders. "Now turn around." The light shone on the scar on his back as he turned around. "Murtagh", Ajihad gasped. Orik let out a grunt in surprise. Without warning Ajihad rushed over to the Twins: "Did you know about this?" The Twins lowered their heads. "We found his name in Eragon's mind, but we never suspected that this boy were son to someone so powerful as Morzan. We never realised-" "And you didn't tell me?" Ajihad wondered. He raised his hand to stop their explanation. "We will talk about this later." He turned once again around towards Murtagh. "First in need to solve this mess. Are you still refusing to be searched?" "Yes", Murtagh said and pulled on his shirt again. "I won't let in anyone into my mind." Ajihad rested against the desk. "The consequences of this will be unpleasant if you refuse. If the Twins can't assure that you're not a threat, it is impossible to give you our trust, even if you helped Eragon - or maybe that's just why. I will be forced to constantly keep you in imprisonment- as much as protecting you as protecting ourselves. It will only get worse when Hrothgar, the dwarf king, requires to watch over you. Do not force yourself into a situation you so easily can avoid." Murtagh shoke his head stubbornly. "No... even if I would do that, I would still be treated as a sick and an outcast. All I am asking for is to leave. If I'm allowed to do that peacefully, then I'll never reveal your hiding place to the Empire." "What happens if you get captured and are brought to Galbatorix?" Ajihad asked. "He will pull out every secret out of your mind, how strong that you may be. And even if you resist him, can we trust that you won't reunite with him in the future? That is not a risk that I can take." "Are you going to keep me as a prisoner here forever?" Murtagh wanted to know, as he sat up. "No", Ajihad said, "only until you let us search you. If we find you trustable, the Twins will remove all knowledge you may have about Farthen Dûr out of your mind before you leave us. We cannot take the chance that someone with such memories fall into the hands of Galbatorix. How will it be, Murtagh? Decide quickly, or someone else will do it for you."
I felt sorry for Murtagh. You can't choose your parents, and he didn't want to be judged by that. Murtagh finally said his answer, slowly and clearly. "My mind is the only sanctuary that has not been taken away from me. Some have tried to break into it before, but I have learned to defend it with strength, for only in my deepest thoughts is where I can be safe. You are asking for the only thing that I can't give you, especially to them." He made a gesture towards the Twins. "Do as you please with me, but you shall know this: I'd rather die than expose myself for their searching." There was something in Ajihad's eyes, maybe admiration? "Your choice does not surprise me, even if I had hoped for something else... Guards!" The door flew open and warriors came in with their weapons ready. Ajihad pointed at Murtagh and ordered: "Take him to a room without windows and block the door carefully. Put six guards by the entrance and do not let anyone in until I visit him. Do not speak to him either." The guards surrounded Murtagh. When they were about to leave I heard Eragon say "I'm sorry". With a shrug of his shoulders Murtagh stared forward determined. He disappeared into the corridor with the guards. The sound of their footsteps became more and more distant. He then looked towards me. "I want everyone except Eragon, Saphira and (Y/N) to leave the room. Now!" I felt worry starting to crawl inside of me. Weren't they going to search me?^Hello guys!!
