a scary nignt

later that night rachel was in bed cuddled up to sebastian they werent having a good night jacob was restless with his gums hurting. he wasnt sleeping they were both exhausted then at three am he really started to scream it was different to his earlier screaming they both jumped out of bed to his crib.

" jacob" sebastian said picking him up he was bright red tears flowing down his small face.

" its ok sweetie " rachel said as maggie came running into the room.

" give him to me yoy two get dressed" maggie said they both run around grabbing the clothes closest to them.

rachel got jacob from maggie and followed sebastian out of the room as quickly as she dare with carrying him. sebastian had the engine running and the car doors open by the time she readhed the car. she put jacob innhis car seat she then ran round the car got in the back with him and fastened him in. as sebastian set off for the emergency room.

jacob cried the while time rachel was freaking out sebastian looked it too but was trying to stay calm and in control as he drove.

" you take him in i aill park and meet you in there" sebastian said as they pulled intonthe parkingnlot he pulled up outside the main doors.  rachel jumped out of the car and got jacob and ran inside with him.

as she ran in a nurse seeing her carrying him looking frantic she was ushered into a side room.

" wait here i will get a doctor to see you" the nurse said

" his dad is parking the car" rachel said

" dont worry" the nurse said next thing rachel knew sebastian came hurtling into the room with another nurse.

" the doctor is on his way we were expecting you a mrs smythe rang said her grandson was sick we figured it was him" the nurse said pointing to  jacob as the doctor came in.

they explained what had happened how he was crying more than ever and that he had gone bright red the doctor did several checks.

" you did right bringing him in i am pleased to say its nothing serious he is teething his gums are swollen i am goignnto give you some infant painkiller and a stroger strength teething gel. also i think the the reason he might have been crying so hard is because his gums are so tender he might been finding breastfeeding difficult so he miht not have gotton enough milk so i would say toniht bottle feed express milk. im also going to give a prescription for some formula milk i think you should consider putting onto it from tomorrow  instead of breastmilk." the doctor said

" but he is ok" rachel asked crying sebastian was cuddling her jacob was laid on the hospital bed.

" he seems like a fine healthy baby to me" the doctor said

" thank you" sebastian said

" thats ok just keep a close eye on him for the next few days if your not happy or he doesnt eem to be doing any better bring him back." the doctor said

" thank you " rachel said as they left the room sebastian had picked him up.

" im going to drop you off at home then i will go for his prescription" sebastian said

" ok" rachel said

they seemed to be home in no time maggie came running out when she heard the car.

" is he alright " maggie asked

" yeah" rachel said gwtting out of the car with jacob. sebastian drove off to get his prescription while rachel carried jacob into the house with maggie following her rachel told her what the doctor said maggie looked relieved.

" that was pretty frightening " maggie said

" yeah" rachel said bursting into tears

" i didnt mean to uoset you" maggie said hugging her

" its not you i have never been so scared in my life" rachel said

" the main thing is he is ok and you and seb were brilliant how you both acted that was exactly what he needed his mommy and daddy to do" maggie said

" i was freaking out" rachel said

" you were amazing would you like a cup of tea" maggie said

" please" rachel said half an hour later sebastian returned with jacobs medicine he was still restless and he cdied as they put him some gel on and when they gave him is infant tylonol.

" that was crazy" sebastian said cuddling her as she held jacob.

" it was" rachel said

" can i hold him" sebastian asked rachel passed him to him.

" come here little man now you listen to daddy you cant get sick ok its to upsetting for mommy and me" sebastian said rachel burst into tears she was sobbing hysterically.

" rach" sebastian said

" i...i" rachel stuutered though sobs maghie came back into the room put down rachel's tea and then tuck jacob so sebastian could comfort her.

" rach" sebastian said

" since i lost my dads i have been terrifed that something was going to happen to him" rachel said

" i understand that rach you have been though a lot but he is ok he is going to be fine" sebastian said

" i was so scared" rachel said

" me to but we did it he was ill we sorted it out" sebastian said

" yeah i guess we did" rachel said

" you should be proud of yourself both of you should be" maghie said

" rach your worried and tired why dont you go on up to bed i will watch him" sebastian said

" no i wont sleep i need to be with him" rachel said
