The 4th One

-NEXT WEEK-

-Devante is on tour with the boys, after spending a couple of weeks with Pilar. They are now in Boston, getting back into their party suite, in the hotel.-

Devante: man its good to be back on tour!

Jo-Jo: and its good to have you back.

Devante: Pilar started her physical therapy this morning.

Dalvin: she's getting back to work so soon.

Devante: yeah, i know. but shes gotta start practicing her choreography in a few months, and then the tour starts in January. 

K-ci: so youll be alone with the babies, huh? (giggles)

Devante: DAMN! I forgot about them. i guess ill still be working, even if im not at work.

Andre: thats what fatherhood is all about. Shaunte is still mad at me for leaving her with AJ. she can barely get any work done. and when she drops the baby off at Phyllis' house, that puts a damper on her day. and Her mom can barely take care of herself, so rarely does Shaunte let AJ go over there.

Devante: well, lets just say that we wont be having anymore kids until like '94. we need time. 

---OVER AT SHAUNTE'S HOUSE---

Pilar: (sits on the sofa) girl! it was a hassle trying to get in and out of my car. and its hard to drive with just one hand. 

Shaunte: (walks into the living room and hands Pilar some water) im sure that it is! so hows everything going with not having De with you?

Pilar: its going good! but i have to admit something...

Shaunte: what?

Pilar: listen, the night i came home, me and De had sex.

Shaunte: okay, and?

Pilar: and we had unprotected sex. (cringes face)

Shaunte: YOU DID WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS MS. GAYE??

Pilar: yes, Ms. Pryor!! look, i had forgotten to take my pills while i was in the hospital. De didnt bring them, so i forgot to ask for them. 

Shaunte: you dont have time to be pregnant right now! youre going on tour in January. remember! you were supposed to be on tour now! but you got pregnant with the twins.

Pilar: yeah! but i do have a strong feeling that im not pregnant. 

Shaunte: well, De wont be back until next week, so you need to get back on your pills.

Pilar: im not gonna get back on until i find out if im pregnant or not.

Shaunte: well, lets go and find out now!

Pilar: where are we going? 

Shaunte: to the hospital.

Pilar: dont you have to pick up AJ from your mother's house?

Shaunte: ill do it after.

---AT THE HOSPITAL---

-Pilar and Shaunte are waiting for the doctor to come in with the results. they wait nervously.-

-After 30 minutes, the doctor finally comes in.-

Pilar: so what does it say?

---LATER THAT NIGHT---

Pilar: (on the phone, in bed) hey baby.

Devante: hey baby. hows everything going?

Pilar: we're doing good. 

Devante: i miss my little family. my 3 most important people!

Pilar: yeah! (smiles) us 4 are really important. (giggles)

Devante: baby, its just the 3 of us. not 4. (laughs) you must be tired.

Pilar: oh, yeah. im very tired. 

Devante: yeah, 'cause the 4th one wont be coming for a very long time.

Pilar: (giggles) right. like next year. 

Devante: yeah! and if we're lucky enough, maybe in a couple of years. 

Pilar: mhm. (she says as she is about to cry.) well, im gonna go sleep now. the little one is making me tired.

Devante: oh gosh! DJ must be the one giving you a hard time.

Pilar: mhm. (knows that she wasnt talking about him). good night.

Devante: bye baby.

-They hang up. and as soon as she puts the phone down, the phone starts to ring again.-

Pilar: hello?

Shaunte: you okay, babe?

Pilar: yeah. im just really excited about the tour. 

Shaunte: i am too. im gonna have the sizes changed on the clothes, but like later down the road.

Pilar: we'll see when we cross that bridge. i just wish that i could have stopped myself before the bridge had been crossed. now it done collapsed. 

Shaunte: you know, i just realized that we should be thankful for those results. 

Pilar: but do you think that De--- (gets cut off by Shaunte).

Shaunte: No! dont say that...

Pilar: okay. but im just so worried.

Shaunte: its gonna be okay. 

-Pilar already knows that when Shaunte says those 4 words, that nothing else needs to be said. so they both hang up, and just leave it at that. they both feel the same emotions. but Pilar tries not to bring stress upon the 4th one.-
