The Wedding: Part 2

-Next Friday-
-At Phyllis' House-

Phyllis: is everything coming together?

Pilar: yes mom. We have the dresses, the reservations are made, the decorations are done. We just need the wedding and then we'll be done.

Phyllis: wonderful. I have all of my things packed, so I will be ready to stay the night.

Pilar: you are going to love the party tonight at the house.

Phyllis: strippers?

Pilar: gosh no mom. Girl talk, games, food, movies, gossip and good music!

Phyllis: you're so old school.

Pilar: well i was born in '69.

-At Pilar's House-

Devante: the boys are on the way over to help with the food.

Pilar: good!

-the boys walk in as soon as she responds.-

Pilar: just in time boys! Thanks for coming over.

Dalvin: we didn't have a chance from what i heard.

K-ci: what can we help with?

Pilar: okay, first off, get comfortable, because y'all are gonna be here for a while, secondly wash your hands. Then i want Devante to do the Mac and cheese, K-ci, you can make the potato salad, dalvin, do the candied yams, jo-jo, do the baked chicken.

Jo-jo: baked?

Pilar: yes. Mom and Shaunte both have high blood cholesterol from their pregnancies. We will have regular baked and some will be coated in BBQ and Buffalo sauce. And i will get to the fruit salad. And after we are done prepping those dishes, we will move onto the other food.

-At Phyllis House-

Phyllis: (laying in bed) I'm so excited for tomorrow.

Richard: (gets in bed) i am too honey. I'm so thankful for Pilar doing this for us.

Phyllis: I'm just ready to be your wife again.

Richard: and I'm ready for this bachelor party De is throwing.

-they both start to laugh.-

-Two hours later-
-At Pilar's House-

Pilar: okay, so everything is in the ovens. Thank god for making double ovens.

K-ci: what about the hotdogs, ribs and stuff?

Pilar: Devante will have that on the grill tomorrow as well as the corn. But, let's get started on the deserts. Jo-jo, here is the recipe to the sweet potato pie. Devante, please make your infamous double fudge chocolate cake and I will make my mom's famous peach cobbler.

Dalvin: why all these desserts if there's gonna be a wedding cake?

Pilar: well, i want my parents to be able to enjoy the cake and take it home after the wedding. It's their day. If everyone gets a piece, then it will be gone.

Dalvin: so what do you need help with?

Pilar: um... i need you and k-ci to pick up the cake.

-Later at the Restaurant-

Malina: (stands up) i would like to make a toast. To my parents, may you both have a happy and fulfilling marriage and enjoy this new journey with our new sibling! Cheers!

-everyone claps and takes a sip of their drinks.-

Devante: This has turned out well Pilar.

Pilar: thank you. I need a damn drink right now.
