-Next week-
Pilar: (getting some orange juice out of the fridge) Ew pulp! i told him not to get the one with pulp! ugh!
Phyllis: (sitting at the kitchen counter) sometimes men just dont listen. (giggles)
Pilar: funny. real funny.
Phyllis: what's wrong baby?
Pilar: i guess im starting to get tired of having to take care of 5 babies all at once. i dont know what's going on with me. im tired, sad and I havent been wanting to have sex with De lately.
Phyllis: This could be a sign of post-partum depression.
Pilar: wouldnt i have gotten that like the week after i had the triplets.
Phyllis: it doesnt have to be in that time frame. you have until 3 months after giving birth to have depression that is classified as post-partum. if its later than that 3 months, then it wouldve been just depression.
Pilar: how do you know all of this?
Phyllis: i had it with you. i was so upset that i lost your twin and you always cried and wanted something, it made me a mad woman. Richard helped me get better.
Pilar: Dad has always been there for us.
Phyllis: he surely has! (grins) you should talk to De about this.
Pilar: i will. thanks mom.
Phyllis: no problem!
Shaunte: (walks in) hey yalls!!!!
Pilar: god! why did i give her a key?
Shaunte: well hello to you too! (sits at the counter)
Phyllis: whats gotten into you? youre so happy.
Shaunte: my husband. (laughs)
Pilar: oh lord. please dont bring any more babies into this family. we dont need any more right now. not until like next year.
Shaunte: ugh! whats wrong with her?
Phyllis: post-partum depression.
Shaunte: ooooohh! youre gonna get help right?
Pilar: i just need a week-long break from the babies. i want to have a life again! a life that i had before i became a mom of 5! i want to go on dates with De and do a whole bunch of shopping and eating. fun stuff that we used to do! can you believe he wants another baby?
Phyllis: are you gonna give him another one?
Pilar: hell no! at least not for another 3 or 4 years. i cant deal with anymore people that are under the age of 4 in my life right now.
Shaunte: i dont want to burst your bubble, but me and Andre are trying for a baby.
Pilar: OH MY GOD! can we please stop with the offsprings for just a moment?
Phyllis: now P, you wont be raising the baby, so theres nothing to worry about.
Pilar: no! thats a lie. have you ever heard "it takes a village to raise a child"?
Shaunte: seriously P, you need to get some help! you cant even be happy for me. you used to be so jolly and excited about everything.
Pilar: i just need a break from the kids. just give me a week and then ill be good. hell... put me in another tour.
Phyllis: you go back this summer.
Pilar: its not soon enough.
Phyllis: talk to De. (gets out of the chair)
Pilar: i will.
Phyllis: ill call you tomorrow. (walks out).
Shaunte: im worried about you P.
Pilar: i told. you just give me a week. i would love to go to a tropical place. like the Dominican Republic.
Shaunte: you should it.
--LATER THAT NIGHT--
Pilar: (lays in bed) hey babe.
Devante: (walks in the room) hey. how was your day?
Pilar: tiring.
Devante: yeah, ive noticed that youve been different lately. i dont even know who are anymore. usually at 6 pm, youre cooking dinner, not in bed.
Pilar: i wanted to talk to you about that. baby, i think we are being parents more than we are young adults. i miss us! we used to do so much together. now we're parents to 2 extra kids that we werent expecting. we lost ourselves in them. im becoming depressed to the point that i cant even be happy for Shaunte trying to have another baby. i want us to have just a week to ourselves. no kids, no working, just us!
Devante: (sits next to Pilar) baby... thats all i want is for you to be happy.
Pilar: we both need to be happy, not just me. so what do you say? a vacation next week?
Devante: whatever you want sweetheart. a week with you only is what i want. (smiles)
Pilar: come here silly.
-They kiss, which leads to them making love for the first time in almost 2 weeks.-
