-NEXT DAY-

Pilar: (cooking catfish, and on the phone) Malina, i'll be fine. you dont have to come back to New Jersey. you have a family to take care of. 

Malina: im just in shock that this has been happening. i thought that he was the perfect guy.

Pilar: he is until he drinks.

Malina: im just scared for you and the children. 

Pilar: dont be. everything will be okay.

Malina: okay. if you say so. ill talk to you later. Marianna wants something to eat.

-They hang up, and Devante comes downstairs.-

Devante: hey babe. (tries to kiss her, but she backs up).

Pilar: look. we're not in front of people, so we dont have to pretend. or at least i dont have to pretend.

Devante: listen, im really sorry. i didnt mean to do that to you. i really didnt. 

Pilar: you meant it. you know that everytime you drink, you beat me up. you know you are not supposed to be drinking.

Devante: i know. 

Pilar: the whole family knows that you have been abusive. they've known since the beginning of time. 

Devante: how can I make this better.

Pilar: you need to stop drinking! in fact, you are not allowed to go to anymore clubs. do you understand?

Devante: yes, i understand. 

Pilar: im also giving you a curfew. you need to be in this house by 9pm. weekdays and weekends.

Devante: dag! a curfew?

Pilar: yep. you wanna act like a kid and throw temper tantrums when you get drunk, im gonna treat you like one. and until im ready, we wont be having sex anytime soon. you better hope that i do go out and cheat, 'cause you know that im a good lookin bitch. (puts catfish on plate and then goes upstairs).

Devante: where's my food?

Pilar: fix something your damn self. 

-AT MALINA'S HOUSE-

Malina: hey babe!

Suge: hey! (kisses her) im glad youre back. what time did you get in last night?

Malina: around 10. Tell your mom i said thanks for watching Marianna while we were both gone. 

Suge: (getting something out of the fridge) how was everything?

Malina: well, i found out something very disturbing.

Suge: what?

Malina: apparently, De has been beating Pilar everytime he gets drunk. 

Suge: WHAT?!!! 

Malina: yeah. the other day, Shaunte had breakfast and Pilar came in the house with a face full of makeup, which is so unlike her. But i didnt think anything of it. so my mom and Shaunte told me that she wears a shit load of makeup when he has beaten her.

Suge: wow. so how are you feeling about this?

Malina: im scared for her. Times like these, i wish i could be there with her all of the time.

-In walks Richard.-

Richard: whats this i hear about De beating my daughter?

Malina: Oh shit.

-AT PHYLLIS' HOUSE-

Shaunte: so I have an interview coming up this Friday with Video Soul. Im so excited. this is my first interview with THE Donnie Simpson!

Phyllis: oh baby, Im so happy for you.

-The phone rings, and Phyllis answers.-

Phyllis: hello?

Richard: WHAT THE HELL IS THIS I HEAR ABOUT DEVANTE AND PILAR?

Phyllis: Damn. Malina cant keep her mouth shut.

Richard: so you didnt want me to know about my daughter?

Phyllis: i knew that you were gonna go ballistic. 

Richard: why wouldnt I?

Phyllis: let Pilar handle this on her own.

Richard: thats it! im moving to New York! i thought i needed to be closer to Malina, but it seems that I was wrong all along. a whole 3 years Phyllis? She's been abused for 3 fuckin years?

Phyllis: yes. 

Richard: Jesus Christ. (hangs up the phone).

-Pilar walks in-

Shaunte: hey! you're in trouble. (giggles)

Pilar: trouble?

Phyllis: your father knows about whats been going on.

Pilar: damn it Malina.

Phyllis: he's moving to here. 

Pilar: all because of me?

Phyllis: yes. i mean look at you. it's been 3 days, and your bruises on your arms look fresh. 

Shaunte: those arent new are they?

Pilar: no. 

Shaunte: your makeup looks nice. does that make you feel better?

Pilar: no! next, Malina is gonna relocate. this does not need to be happening.

Phyllis: youre right. (gets up from the sofa and walks over to Pilar)  De should not be doing this to you. 

-Phyllis touches her face and Pilar winces.-

Phyllis: i see youre still in pain.

Pilar: yep. 

Shaunte: so how are things at home?

Pilar: everything's fine. i sleep in another, we dont have sex and I dont fix him food. its like we're separated but not really. 

Shaunte: i hate to see this happening to you. 

Phyllis: are you considering leaving him?

Pilar: i am. 

Shaunte: wow! i wasnt expecting that answer. 

Pilar: this is the worst he has ever beaten me. the first 2 times, he only punched me in the eye. the third time, he busted my lip and bruised my cheek. this time, he beat my entire body. i told him that hes not allowed to go to clubs and he has to be in the house by 9pm every night. 

Phyllis: well lets hope that this works.

Shaunte: hey, P?

Pilar: yes! 

Shaunte: i need a nanny like yours, because I never see you with your kids. (laughs)

Pilar: (laughs) very funny! 

Shaunte: but as soon as I get pregnant, im going to hire a nanny. one like yours.
