-February 5th, The Twins Bday Party-
Pilar: (Sitting the food and drinks on the table) so are you excited, babe?
Devante: (keeping his eyes glued on the Super Bowl) yep... sure am.
Pilar: is that game really more important than your children's first birthday?
Devante: (turns the TV off) sorry. (gets up) what do you need me to do?
Pilar: go get the kids dressed. i have all of their outfits laied out for them.
-Devante goes upstairs to complete the task.-
Phyllis: (comes in the door) knock knock! (giggles) hows everything?
Pilar: great! and how are you?
Phyllis: wonderful! (gives Pilar a kiss on the cheek). I love the decorations! Pink, white, blue and yellow everything. colors for the boy, and colors for the girl.
Pilar: thank you mama!
-Malina, Suge and the baby bust through the door.-
Malina: LORD! IT IS COLD OUT THERE!!
Pilar: oh hush! (gives Malina and Suge a hug)
Suge: Where's De?
Pilar: upstairs.
Malina: ill take her. (grabs Marianna and Suge goes upstairs)
Phyllis: she is getting so big!
Malina: yeah! i cant believe my baby is about to be 2 in the fall!
Pilar: i know. i remember when both you Shaunte' were pregnant.
Phyllis: where is Shauntelle anyway?
Pilar: damn mama! the last time i heard you call her by her full name was when she was about to get that record-breaking ass whoppin that one night she broke your favorite vase (laughs).
Phyllis: that vase given to me by Aretha, a legend! it cost almost a million dollars!
Malina: mama, that 20 years ago.
Phyllis: yeah, and at 30 years old, she can still catch this ass whoppin.
--2 HOURS LATER--
Pilar: (taps cup with a fork) I would like to thank everyone for coming. this is a special moment for me and De. we didn't think that we would be able to become parents. now, we have 5 kids (laughs). so please, everyone enjoy. and don't forget to save the date for next year on January 5th, because that's the triplets birthday. lord (shakes her head) 5 kids at 22. but enjoy!!
Jo-Jo: (taps Devante) man! i dont know how you do it! 5 babies...
Devante: P doesnt even want more kids.
Dalvin: and you do?
Devante: just one more.
K-Ci: hell no! you need to be done!
Devante: the next time, we're gonna have to do artificial insemination. just to make sure that we plant one seed and not multiples.
K-Ci: we've got another album to make. make albums! not babies!
Devante: i dont want another now. maybe like '95 or '96.
-the boys all shake their heads at Devante.-
Shaunte: (walks to Pilar in the kitchen) you think dad and mom are gonna get back together? (watches Phyllis and Richard talk)
Pilar: girl who knows? theyre probably already married and we just dont know it. (giggles)
Shaunte: you know Malina would love that!
--LATER THAT NIGHT, AT PHYLLIS' HOUSE--
Phyllis: (in the bathroom) OH THANK GOODNESS!!!
Richard: (laying in the bed) WHAT?
Phyllis: (comes out of the bathroom) it's negative. (shows him the pregnancy test).
Richard: THANK THE LORD!! girl! i can't believe you still get pregnancy scares!
Phyllis: im only 45 Richard. i havent even reached menopause yet. (gets in the bed with Richard) you know it kinda makes me feel young to know that i can still get pregnant.
Richard: (giggles) you think the girls figured out our secret love affair?
Phyllis: hell no. did you see how busy they were with their kids? i have no idea how P can remain so calm with 5 kids that are still babies. plus, i like being sneaky with you. its fun!
Richard: this brings back memories of how we first fell in love! we got married and we had a beautiful baby girl! thank you for treating Shauntelle like she was yours.
Phyllis: you did it for my daughter, i will do it for yours. you're the only father that P had. even though she knew that you weren't her biological father, she loves you. we have truly raised a beautiful family... our 3 girls! but i still hate Shaunte's mother...
Richard: if it wasnt for her ruining your relationship with Marvin, then you wouldn't have met me! '70- '85 were the best years! dating for 2 years and married for 13! i owe her and Marvin a thank you for messing up a relationship with the most beautiful woman in the world so that i can have her.
Phyllis: (smiles) i just wish that your drug usage didnt break us up, but you know i had to do what i needed to do. Marvin did drugs and it bothered me. just please dont hurt me again.
Richard: i wont.
