"Goodnight baby" I whispered kissing my 3 year old son, Ethan's, cheek.
"Goodnight mummy" he said.
"Goodnight buddy, I love you" Niall said kissing his cheek.
"Goodnight daddy, I love you too, I love you too mummy" he said.
"I love you too baby" I said.
We switched the light off and left his room.
We went downstairs and decided to watch a movie.
"I hope he doesn't have another nightmare tonight" Niall said as we sat down. Our son, Ethan, had been having nightmares for the past few weeks so he'd been waking up and he'd had a few accidents.
"I know, it's horrible seeing him so scared" I said and Niall agreed.
****
My head was rested on Niall's shoulder as we continued watching the movie.
"Y/n?" Niall asked.
"Hmm?"
"Do you think we could have another kid soon, hopefully a little girl?" He asked.
"I would love to have another baby with you" I said smiling.
Our moment was interrupted by a loud cry and shout.
"Mummy! Daddy!" We heard Ethan cry.
Niall and I shot up and ran upstairs into his bedroom.
We ran in and he threw up multiple times and was clutching his stomach with tears streaming down his face.
Niall quickly went over to him and I got a bucket for him.
I gave him the bucket to throw up into.
"What's wrong baby? Tell us so we can help" I said.
"My tummy hurts! Make it stop daddy!" He sobbed leaning into Niall.
"Y/n we better get him to hospital, I think he has appendicitis" Niall said.
I nodded and quickly cleaned him up.
Niall put a towel over his shoulder and picked Ethan up.
"We're gonna take you to the hospital to make you better, okay buddy?" Niall asked and Ethan nodded letting his tears fall onto Niall's t shirt.
****
As soon as we got to A and E a doctor took Ethan from us.
We were told to sit in the waiting room.
Niall had texted his parents and my parents texting them about the situation.
"I hope he's okay" Niall muttered stroking my hair.
"Me too,but he's our little fighter" I said referring to when he was born. I went into labour two months early which meant that when he was born the survival rate was low and he had a few health problems, for example undeveloped lungs. Luckily, he survived and now he is perfectly fine. The average size for a four year old and you wouldn't think he was premature.
"Mr and Mrs Horan?" The Doctor said.
We followed him into a room and sat opposite him.
"Is he okay?" Niall asked.
"We have discovered that your son , Ethan Horan, has a case of appendicitis" he told us.
"Will he be okay?" I asked.
"Yes of course, appendicitis doesn't do much, but to make sure he doesn't get the illness again we want to remove his appendix which has no function anyway as soon as possible, the sooner we do it the sooner the pain for him will be over, so we need your signatures to perform the operation" he explained.
Niall and I both signed a form meaning Ethan could have his appendix removed.
"The surgery will be performed immediately, it will be around an hour until you can see him" the doctor said and we nodded going back to the waiting room.
"What if he doesn't make it through the surgery?" I asked Niall as a tear escaped my eye.
Niall leaned over and wiped away my tear with his thumb.
"Princess, he'll make it through, trust me" he said reassuring us both.
****
"Family of Ethan Horan?" The doctor said. We both stood up.
"You may see him now" he said and Niall grabbed my hand squeezing it. I glanced at him and gave him a smile.
We walked into Ethan's hospital room and saw him sat in bed.
Niall and I sat either side of him.
Niall held hi right hand and I held his left hand.
"Where am I?" He asked.
"We're at the hospital bud, you had surgery" Niall told him.
****
"When can I go home! I don't like it here!" Ethan said pouting his lip and crossing his arms.
"Tomorrow morning love" I told him.
****
Ethan had been home a week. We were told to take thing easy with him so we haven't done much apart from movie days.
