#51 Giving birth to your second child

Your POV

I was towards the end of my pregnancy and me, Niall and our 2 year old daughter, Aaliyah, are staying with Niall's parents in Mullingar as we want the baby to be born here. We will be staying for Niall's parents for a few weeks after the baby's born before going home to London.

I was in the kitchen cooking with Maura while Niall , Bobby and Aaliyah were in the living room probably watching one of Aaliyah's cartoons.

"You nervous?" Maura asked.
"Very" I said.
"Its just that the pain is horrible" I added.
"You could get an epidural though, did you get one with Aaliyah?" She said.
"Yes i did, but I hated when they injected it because I hate needles" I told her and she smiled sympathetically.
"You know id love it if men carried babies and not women!" I said and she chuckled.
"Could you imagine seeing Niall with a baby bump though! Never mind giving birth he'd probably pass out" She said laughing

I was sat in the living room watching a movie with Bobby and Maura while Niall and Aaliyah are upstairs having a nap.

I started to feel little Liam's in my stomach but I passed them off.
Suddenly a more intense pain hit me and I visibly winced.

"You okay y/n?" Bobby asked.
"Yeah, just had a little pain that's all" I said.
"Are you sure?" Maura asked or convinced . I nodded and she let go of it.

It was about halfway through the movie.
"I'm going to go and get a snack" I said and Niall's parents nodded.
I stood up and felt a gush of water leave my body.

Mauras eyes widened and Bobbys did too.
"I'll go get Niall" He said rushing upstairs.
Maura ran to my side and held me up.
"Y/n keep calm, deep breath" Maura said.

Niall came downstairs looking confused, Bobby was behind him and he had our baby bag.

"What's going on?" Niall asked confused as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"Wats going on? Your wife is in labour so I suggest you get her to the hospital before she gives birth to your baby on the floor" Maura said raising her voice a little at her oblivious son.
His eyes widened.

"I..uh.... the baby bag!" He said turning around and crashing into Bobby. Bobby put the baby bag on Niall's shoulder.
Niall put his shoes on.
"What about Aaliyah?" He asked.
"She'll be fine with us! Now go!" Bobby said ushering us out.
Niall had his arm around my waist and I had mine around him.

He helped me in the car and quickly got in himself and began driving.

"Ow!" I screamed as a contraction hit.
"Niall! Hurry the fuck up!" I yelled.
He stayed silent but drove a little quicker.
He knows I don't mean anything I say but it doesn't mean he doesn't feel guilty about it.

The doctors took me into a room and I was immediately ordered to change into a maternity gown and had lots of wires attached to me to monitor heart beats and contractions.

"Niall it hurts so much" I cried as his hand was intertwined with mine.
"I know baby, I know, but soon enough all of this pain will be worth it when we have our little baby boy on our arms" Niall said and I smiled lightly.

"Hello mrs Horan it appears that you are 10cm dilated" The midwife said.

Her and some other midwives prepared everything for the birth.
The clear hospital baby cot was placed next to my bed.

"Okay so 3..2..1 push" the midwife instructed.

I pushed as hard as I could while squeezing Niall's hand, I didn't scream but silent tears made their way down my face .

"Okay so your baby is cornering now so roughly 3 more pushes and they'll be here" She said.
"3..2..1 push" she said.

I have a massive push, and it hurt a lot.

I relaxed and the midwife gave me a smile.
"The head is out so one last big push for the shoulders" she said.

I began to push as she pulled the baby's shoulders out 1 by 1.

A cry suddenly pierced the air.
The baby was brought up and placed into my chest.
"It's a boy!" The midwife said.

I grinned and looked at Niall who smiling and he leaned down giving me a passionate kiss.
"You did it princess" he whispered as we stared down at our baby boy.

"So we will take him to clean him , weigh him and make sure he's healthy we will then bring him back here so you can both hold him for a while, we will then give him a bath and get him dressed, after the bath you will be allowed to have visitors with you" she explained and we nodded.

The doctors took the baby to clean him , weigh him and run some health tests.

"I'm so proud of you, you've given me the two best things I could ask for, a little girl and now a baby boy" He said grinning and wiping a tear.
"I love you so much babe" he whispered kissing me again.
"I love you too"I whispered once we pulled away.

"So who's holding him first?" The Doctor asked as she entered the room with our baby boy who was swaddles in a blue blanket.
I quickly nodded my head towards Niall who gratefully smiled at me, he hadn't held him yet.

The baby was placed in Niall's arms and Niall stared down at him in amazement.

"Hello little fella, I'm so happy that you're finally here and I'm sure everyone else is too. Everybody already loves you, especially your big sister she was so excited when we told her you were in mummy's tummy, I love you my little prince" Niall said as some tears escaped his eyes.

"He's gorgeous" I whispered.
"He sure is going to be handsome little boy" Niall said agreeing with me.
"He looks like you" I whispered and Niall smiled.
The baby opened his eyes to reveal beautiful blue eyes.
"He has your eyes and everything, why do none of our babies ever look like me" I said and Niall chuckled.

" do you have a name for the little man?" A doctor asked .
We nodded.
"Ethan James Horan"

"Are you up for some visitors?" Bobby asked poking his head around the door.
"Of course! Come on in!" I said as I looked down at my beautiful little boy.

Bobby came in with Maura and Aaliyah following in behind him.
Niall took our baby boy from my arms.
He walked to wear Aaliyah and his parents were standing.

He bent down in front of Aaliyah with Ethan in his arms.
"Princess, Meet your new baby brother Ethan James Horan" Niall said smiling.
"He's cute, can I hold him daddy?" Aaliyah asked smiling.
"Of course sit on the chair there" Niall said referring to the chair Niall was sat on during the delivery and labour.

She climbed on the chair and sat down.
Niall walked to her bending down in front of her and placing the small baby boy into her awaiting arms.

Niall smiled proudly and took some photos of them.

After Aaliyah had held Ethan for around 10 minutes Bobby and Maura had their turns holding him.

"He looks exactly like you did when you was born" Bobby told Niall who smiled.
"Congratulations you two, but the real question is , is he the last one or will there be another baby in the future?" Maura asked.
"I definitely want 1 more" Niall said.
"Me too" I said agreeing with him.

@NiallOfficial: I am happy to announce that on the 28th of January at 6:24am my handsome baby boy, Ethan James Horan,  was brought into the world. I couldn't be more happier with my little family. Aaliyah is over the moon about being a big sister and y/n is happy about finally having Ethan after waiting for a long 9 months! :) x
