#79 Divorce

My 3 children were at Niall's parents house and Niall was in the living room while I did the laundry.

Our marriage hasn't been the best recently, due to stress with work and the kids we've neglected each other a lot which has put a strain on our relationships and we've been arguing a lot.

I picked Niall's jacket up out of the laundry basket. I checked the pockets to make sure he hasn't left anything in there. I pulled a piece of paper out o his pocket and placed it on the kitchen worktop so he could get it later.

I then noticed they were divorce papers.
Tears came to my eyes, I know our relationship hasn't been the best lately but I still loved him and never thought about divorce once.

"Divorce? Really?" I asked Niall as I stood in front of were he was sat on the sofa and held the divorce papers in my hand.

"No-let me explain" he pleaded.
"No I think the papers explain enough" I said as tears escaped my eyes and I ran upstairs into our bedroom locking the door behind me.
I sat down on the bed and sobbed.

"Y/n-babe-please let me explain I-I didn't intend to use them" He pleaded.
"Please" he begged.
I unlocked the door and sat back down on the bed.

Niall's POV

I sat next to her and pulled her into me.
"I-I Don't intend to use them, I went there and realised it was stupid but I-I just got them because I was already there" I explained.
"I know our marriage what's been rough lately but that doesn't mean divorce, we can go to counselling" I said.

Your POV

We sat down in front of the marriage counsellor.

"So what's happening exactly" he asked.
"Well I was talking to some friends about how I should fix it problems and one of them said that the answer might just be divorce so stupidly I went pick them up and then realised it was stupid but I got them anyway because I was already there" Niall explained.
"Do you know what has caused the problems?" He asked.
"Yes, stress over work and our children so we've basically neglected each other" I told him.
"Well you know what is causing the problems which is a promising sign. I have worked with couples worse than you both and they've not divorced and they've worked it out. How old are your children?" He asked.
"Aaliyah's 9 Ethan's 8 and Isabelle's 1" Niall told him.
"Why is their such a big age gap between Ethan and Isabelle?" He asked.
"She wasn't planned , she was a nice surprise" I said.
"Do you think you'll have more children? Since you are both still only in your late 20's, you are both 29" he said.
"I think we may have another child in the future but there are no plans yet due to all the problems" Niall said.
"I recommend that you both make time for each other. Have a short holiday, night to yourself and have date nights every other week, make time for each other" he said and we nodded leaving.

Niall was upstairs getting ready for our date tonight and Maura was waiting to take the kids for the night .

"Your mum wants to see you" I said as I entered the bathroom were Niall was finishing his hair. We planned to go to a fancy restaurant so he was wearing a suit and I was wearing a nice red knee length dress.

We walked downstairs and entered the living room.
"Dadda!" Isabelle screamed rubbing to him.
"Hello Issy wissy belle belle!" He said using her nickname he made up for her as he picked her up.
She giggled at the name.
"Is there a time I should bring them back or should I just bring them back in the morning?" Maura asked.
"Probably the morning, I imagine we will be out for a while since we are  going to the movies too and I don't want the kids to have to stay awake" Niall told her and she nodded taking Isabelle from him.

"Bye, I love you all my 3 little munchkins!" Niall said kissing each f our children's cheeks.
"I love you all!" I said kissing their foreheads.

We were about to leave when Niall suggested something.
"You know we could skip dinner and just have dessert here" he said smirking.
I glared at him .
"Your 29 And still have the sex drive of an 18 year old. Just door it you horny boy!" I said and he chuckled.
