Niall was currently arguing with our 14 year old daughter, Amelia. We had been out for dinner and Maura was looking after our 10 year old son, Ethan and 3 year old daughter, Aaliyah as me,Niall and Amelia wanted to have a movie night.

"You were the one that wanted a movie night because of stress from studying!" Niall yelled.
"I am stressed because of studying! I actually plan to finish school unlike some people!" She yelled angrily.
"If I didn't audition for X factor you wouldn't have a life like this!" He spat.
"I think you might need to go study a bit more!" He yelled.
"Study a bit more? Really Dad? I've spent the last month studying for these tests! You complain when I study! You complain when I don't study! When am I going to live up to your expectations! I've been trying my best!" She shouted.
"Well your best clearly isn't enough!" He said.
"I can't do better! I try my hardest!" She yelled.
"Well you're a disappointment! A fucking disappointment!" He screamed "Let's just hope Aaliyah doesn't turn out like you! One disappointment is enough!" He yelled.

Amelia dropped her arms by her side and tears escaped her eyes as she looked at her Dad.

"Is that all you think of me? A disappointment? So all those 'I'm so proud of you's' we're all lies? Thanks Dad, I didn't already have enough problems to worry about so thanks for giving me another one" she sobbed and ran off upstairs.

I looked at Niall and shook my head.
"A disappointment? She's doing better than any of us could do right now. You are unbelievable Niall" I said angrily.
"Really? So now I'm in the wrong?" He asked. I scoffed.
"You just said that your daughter is a disappointment! When you're the one person she looks up to! She try's her best Niall? And why? To make you proud! But you just knocked her confidence by a mile! What a brilliant father you are Niall!" I spat.
"Now go apologise before she hates you forever"

Niall's POV

I looked at my wife's stern face. I feel horrible. I just told my little girl she is a disappointment because of a stupid argument we had.
I'm a horrible father.

I walked upstairs and knocked on my daughters bedroom door.
"Go away" She sniffled.
I opened the door anyway and closed it behind me.
She was lied face down on her bed.

I sat down on her bed.
"Princess" I whispered .

She sat up quickly. Her blue eyes were red and puffy and her cheeks were tear stained as she was still crying.
"You're the last person I want to see" she spat.
"Princess, just listen to me , let me explain, please?" I said.
"Fine! Explain why I'm such a disappointment, explain why you had to knock my confidence. Explain why you lied to me all my life saying I make you proud" she said sadly.

"Baby, I don't know why I said that, you are anything but a disappointment . I've been proud of you since the day you was born. Every time I look at you, I instantly get a smile on my face, I realise how lucky I am to have such an amazing daughter. You've made me so so proud of the young woman you're becoming. As much as I hate to say this as you'll always be my baby, you're growing into an incredible and beautiful young woman and I couldn't be anymore prouder of you than I am right now" I said.

She smiled slightly and I reached over wiping her tears.
"Now, you gonna give daddy a hug?" I asked smiling.
She smiled and wrapped her arms around me.
I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her cheek repeatedly.
"I love you so much princess, don't forget that" I whispered and kissed her head.
"I love you too Dad" she whispered and kissed my cheek.
