#60 He gets upset

"I hate you daddy!" The 3 year old girl yelled running out of the room.

Niall's face fell and he sunk down onto the sofa, putting his head in his hands.
She'd never said that before.

A muffled son escaped his throat.
I sat down next to him and rubbed his back.
"She hates me" Niall whispered facing me with tears in his eyes.
"She doesn't, she loves you so much, she looks up to you, I've never seen anyone love their daddy as much as she does" I told him.
"It's just hard for her to say goodbye" I added.

He just shook his head and let more tears fall.
"She wouldn't say something she doesn't mean" he whispered.
I engulfed him in a hug and he cried into my shoulder.

I looked towards the living room doorway where Aaliyah stood clutching her teddy bear Niall got her.
She looked upset seeing her daddy crying because of what she'd done.
I opened my arm to tell her she could join if she wants to.

She stood still for a maimed and hesitated before coming to us slowly.

I pulled away from the hug and Aaliyah climbed into Niall's lap.
Niall looked at his baby with nothing but love in his eyes and a slight smile on his face as he looks at his greatest achievement.

Aaliyah wrapped her tiny arms around his neck.
"Daddy's upset because you said you hate him" I told her.

"I don't hate you, I love you daddy" she whispered. "I love you too princess"
She pulled back so she was facing him.
"I don't want you to go away again" she said letting tears fall.
"Baby, don't cry, I don't want to go away but I'll be back before you know it and I'll bring you some presents back and you and mummy can come visit me and your uncles" he said.
"I'll miss you daddy" she said.
"I'll miss you too princess, but we still have a week to spend lots and lots of time together before I go away"
