"you aren't mine, but sometimes I pretend like you wish you were"
The air was bitter and cold as Cleo buried her face further into her scarf to try and hide from the chill as her, Ambrosia, Lily, Luna, and Indiana walked towards the Quidditch pitch.
"Oh guys, there's Severus, I'll see you later, yeah?" Lily waved goodbye as she caught up with the Slytherin boy.
"Why do you think she's friends with that slimy git?" Indiana cringed.
"Now you sound like James," Cleo said.
"Well, it's true."
"It is not, he's not that bad," Cleo tried to defend him. She had only spoken to him maybe twice in their entire 5 years at Hogwarts, but Lily seemed to like him, so that was enough for Cleo.
"He's turning into a Death Eater, he's a Slytherin, and his friends aren't the greatest. You wanna say that again mate?" Indie rolled her eyes.
"Well you're a Slytherin, but you aren't turning into a death eater," Luna added.
"Of course not, I hate my family," Indie said quickly. "And I'm friends with Andromeda, who hates her family. I have no worries about being corrupted by the vicious snakes I call my parents."
The other three girls could sense the tension building up, and Cleo cut through it fast. "Do you think James will be cold?" she wondered aloud.
"You're such a mom friend," Ambrosia laughed. "Of course, he'll be fine."
"But maybe he should wear a scarf-"
"And have it whip across his eyes so he can't see anything? That sounds like a great idea," Luna rolled her eyes.
"I'm just concerned, I'll have Winky make a big batch of hot chocolate for later," she thought.
"Let's just go meet up with the boys," Ambrosia laughed and threw her arm around Cleo's shoulder as they walked.
They met up with them in the stands, Sirius doning one of James' jerseys underneath the black leather jacket Cleo had gotten him for his 14th birthday. Remus had a dark red oversized sweater on and a red and gold striped scarf, but Peter was the one who dressed like James' biggest fan the most. He was wearing red and yellow from head to toe and had a big lion's head hat as he whooped and hollered for his best friend, making everyone laugh. He blushed at the attention but enjoyed it nonetheless.
The match was in full swing against Ravenclaw, and of course, their Ravenclaw friend wasn't paying any attention. She stood by Remus, reading a book, but she periodically looked up to either glance at the game or mutter something to Remus, which would more than often make him smile. For a good little while, Cleo watched the two more than she watched the game until she felt a hand on the top of her head that twisted it slowly back around to the Quidditch pitch.
"Watch the game instead of trying to play matchmaker, would you?" Sirius grinned at her.
"I'm sorry, it's just too adorable," she said between chattering teeth. She shivered. Sirius noticed, and put his arm around her shoulder and dragged her to stand in front of him. He then started rubbing his hands up and down her arms in an attempt to warm her up, which resulted in causing her to shiver even more at the contact.
He finally just wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on the top of her head, enclosing her in a blanket of warmth that made her smile and blush.
James rushed by on his broom, hearing his friends cheer for him as he zoomed past carrying a quaffle under his arm. With a turn of his broom, he threw the quaffle through the tallest hoop as hard as he could. The keeper, Samuel Brigsby, dived on his broom to block it, but it passed his fingers and went straight through the hoop. Now that they were ahead, all Gryffindor had to do was catch the snitch, and they would win.
And win they did. It wasn't but 10 minutes later that the announcer was calling that the seeker for the Gryffindor team had caught the golden snitch, and the team raced to the ground in triumph. Peter was jumping up and down in the stands and nearly knocked a poor third year over, apologizing profusely in stuttering excitement.
"Well that was exciting," Indie turned to the group with a grin.
"Exciting... and cold," Remus added, making everyone nod in agreeance.
In the common room that evening, James was going over everything he did during the match as they sipped on hot chocolate around the fire.
"Potter, could you be any more arrogant?" Lily Evans scoffed, sitting by Cleo on the sofa.
"Oh, come on Evans, you have to admit, the game was bloody insane!" James grinned.
"It was alright," she shrugged.
"Just you wait and see Evans, I'm going to win Gryffindor the Quidditch Cup at the end of this year, and you'll have no other choice but to fall head over heels for me."
"In your dreams, Potter."
