"love triumphs all hate"

Summer ended faster than they had liked. Cleo was partially dreading going back to school, because she knew that no matter what, she would never be able to show her arm to anyone.

The cuts had scabbed and then scarred, and what was left was raised, pink, ragged flesh that reminded her every day of her pain. Somehow, she would have to cover it up for the rest of her life. She was worried that someone would see it and tried to reassure herself that she had bought enough long-sleeved shirts and sweaters to last her a lifetime.

The train whistle blew, and the group found themselves in their usual compartment. Remus had gone to his prefect meeting, with James shouting instructions for what to tell Lily about him, mainly consisting of how handsome and attractive he had become over the summer.

"James, she really doesn't want anything to do with you this year," Luna shook her head, resting her book on informative Dragon Care on her lap. "Not after the stunt you lot pulled with Snape at the end of fifth year." Cleo grimaced at the reminder of that dreadful day.

"Is she really still mad at me about that?" he exclaimed, pointing to himself as though he couldn't believe it. "What about Snivellus? He was the one who-"

"Trust me, she doesn't like him either," Cleo said quietly, shaking her head. "But she definitely hates you more than she did before." James slumped in his seat. He remembered when the love of his life, Lily Evans, had told him to grow up or go away. And suddenly, he devised a plan.

"How are you feeling?" Sirius asked her gently, sitting beside her as he usually always did. The boys were far more careful around her now, for she was far more fragile than she had been before.

"I'm alright," she mumbled, though she really didn't feel it. She couldn't help but feel absolutely terrified for this year.

"How was your summer, Cleo?" Ambrosia grinned, kicking her feet up to rest them on the wall of the train.

"It was... eventful," Cleo tried to say normally, but her voice cracked. Her summer was absolute hell, but she didn't want to worry anyone else.

"How are your parents?" Luna asked, staring at her. They had known the situation she and her family had been put in by her sister, and Luna and the rest of the girls hoped that everything turned out alright. The train compartment got unnaturally silent. The boys looked at her carefully, watching and waiting for her to burst into tears, snap at someone, something. James and Sirius glanced at each other nervously.

Her breathing got shaky and her eyes filled with tears she couldn't hide. "Cleo? What happened?" Indiana asked gently, suddenly getting very worried. The girl had been contently eating her Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans quietly until now.
