"I'm not jealous, I just don't like you hanging out with people that aren't me"
A few weeks had gone by since the last full moon, and Remus had been feeling much better about simply everything lately, and so had Cleo. Her training with Dumbledore was going well, and while she hadn't gotten a word back from her parents, one of Dumbledore's sources told her that she they were alive, which was all she needed. O.W.Ls were coming up fast, and nearly everyone had been studying so much their brains had grown numb. Nearly everyone, of course.
"Mr. Pettigrew, might I ask what you are doing wandering the halls at this time?" Professor McGonagall's voice rang out and echoed through the hall. It was a bright, sunny Saturday and most of the students were outside enjoying the newfound warmth.
"Um, well, I was just-" he stuttered out. "I was um... looking for... Sirius..."
"And where is Mr. Black?" she asked him, slightly impatient. She had a dangerous look in her eyes that told Peter that he had better not try to lie to her.
"He's doing... stuff..." he said, cringing at his own failure to make something better up.
"Stuff? I don't like the sound of that at all," she muttered. "Where is Mr. Lupin?"
Peter sighed, hoping his friends wouldn't be too mad at him for ratting them out like he was doing. "He's trying to stop Sirius from doing the stuff."
"Well, what about Mr. Potter?"
"Trying to stop Remus from stopping Sirius from doing the stuff."
"So now that I have this information, what exactly are you really doing?" she questioned, raising a brow.
"I'm supposed to stop you from stopping James from stopping Remus from stopping Sirius from doing the stuff."
"Oh good Lord," she mumbled.
The "stuff" that the marauders were doing was definitely one of the worse plans they've come up with, but it seemed to work nonetheless.
"You know, I was normal before you guys," Remus panted, giving up on trying to catch them and put a stop to something he knew everyone would regret.
"You're a werewolf, mate," James panted in front of him, turning his head to look over his shoulder only a moment. Remus rolled his eyes.
"As normal as I could've been," he muttered. Sirius and James simultaneously turned around, and Sirius gently put his hand on Remus' shoulder.
"We know," he whispered sympathetically. "Now you keep a watch out while we paint the Slytherin common room pink."
"Ready Padfoot?" James grinned maniacally.
"Ready Prongs," Sirius smirked, and they ducked into the Slytherin common room under the invisibility cloak, leaving Remus all alone in the dungeons, watching the empty hallway, his loud sigh echoing against the stone.
He stood there for a few moments in silence, not really knowing if he should abandon them or if he should stay. Soon enough, voices were echoing against the walls from further down the hall. Three female voices, but he couldn't make out what they were saying. He struggled for a moment to find someplace to hide before he shook his head. "I'm a bloody prefect, what am I doing?" he whispered, before deciding to just stay where he is.
