Soon enough, the snow had melted and a warm breeze blew through the air, signaling that summer was quickly approaching, and that meant that so were the O.W.Ls, which had almost every fifth year student on edge. Almost.

James and Sirius had been much busier trying to turn into their Animagus forms for a few weeks now and to no avail. Occasionally, one of them would yell out some kind of pun regarding their Patronus forms, like, "oh DEER, I wish we could get away somehow!" and "DOGGONE IT we're in trouble!" and then they would close their eyes in an attempt to turn, but then they would just look stupid as they stood there while everyone watched them do absolutely nothing.

It was almost a full moon. Remus had been tired the last few days and had fallen asleep in almost every single of one of his classes. James, Cleo, and Sirius took turns taking his notes in class while he slept with his head on the desk.

On the night before the full moon, everyone was asleep in their dorms. The girls had all gone to bed a long while ago, and the boys had all fallen asleep shortly after. Well, all except one.

Sirius was awake, sitting up on his bed and trying his hardest to transform. It took him almost an hour, and he was about ready to give up, but he looked over at Remus' sleeping form. The boy with large bags under his eyes was curled up with his legs tucked in, and he was tossing and turning slightly, small whimpers coming from his closed lips. Sirius frowned and closed his eyes again, breathing deeply.

He chanted the spell a few times before he started to feel anything. He felt slightly tingly all over and he could feel his limbs shrink. His back bent over and soon enough, in place of his former self, there was a shaggy black dog sitting on the bed. He spun around in a circle a few times, examining a black tail. He gave out an excited bark and leaped from his bed directly onto James.

The weight of something plopping heavily on top of him woke James Potter up, and he turned his head with one eye open to see what it was. When the face of a shaggy black dog came into his view and began to lick his face, James screeched and all at once threw himself out of bed, his body tangled up in the bedsheets.

James hit the ground and, because he was so startled, all at once popped into his animagus form the minute his body touched the ground. The dog known as Sirius was barking and bouncing around across all four of the boys' beds, waking Remus and Peter up too. James looked like a baby deer on ice, the stag's four legs sprawled out everywhere as he struggled to get a hang of his new body.

Peter and Remus both sat up in bed to find absolute chaos. A stag sprawled out on the floor with a black dog jumping all over the room, all over the stag, ripping blankets around the room and barking. Peter began laughing so hard he toppled out of bed. Remus rubbed his face with both hands and groaned, fearing for what was going to happen on the next full moon now that he had those idiots by his side.

It was the full moon. James, Peter, and Sirius were getting ready to leave the dorms for the night. They covered all three of their bodies with the invisibility cloak, and with the Marauder's Map in James' pocket, they made their way silently out of the common room and down the empty hallways of the quiet castle.

Now, because the map was in James' pocket, they were completely taken by surprise when they crashed into something, or rather, someone.

Cleo was heading to Dumbledore's office for her training, looking at all of the portraits on the walls with her wand in the air as the tip illuminated her way. All of a sudden, she let out a small "oomph!" as she ran into something in the middle of the hallway, but there wasn't anything there. She looked around, waiting for something to show itself when out of the corner of her eye, she saw something shimmer. Cleo rolled her eyes.
