"an apology would be a good place to start"

It had been a week since Regulus made an appearance in Cleo's bedroom, and he had been staying with them since. He slept on a couch in Cleo's room, and while neither of them wanted to admit it, they enjoyed the comforting feeling of not being alone.

Remus and Luna had gone away for a few days because of the full moon, so for the time being, Regulus and Cleo usually sat around, read books, played cards, and talked. Mainly about Sirius.

It was almost as though Regulus became like a girlfriend to her, because one night when Cleo was feeling particularly vulnerable, he asked her what happened between her and Sirius, and it all came blubbering out of her. It had been hard for her to keep it all inside, and Regulus, who had been lying on his couch, staring at the ceiling when he asked, stood up and sat at the end of her bed, and just listened. He nodded along, shook his head when he heard some of the things Sirius had said or done, and smiled when Cleo talked about the things she missed. He felt good that she finally trusted him, and he finally felt like he had a friend.

One day, the two were eating lunch in the tavern when Remus and Luna walked in. It had only been 5 days, but it felt like they had gone on a long vacation. Behind them, was James and Lily, hand in hand and looking happier than ever. Cleo stood up to greet them, hugging both the girls and then wrapping her arms around James' neck tightly.

"I missed you, Queenie," he sighed, squeezing her tighter.

"I missed you too," she smiled, pulling away. "I missed you both so much! I've never gone this long without seeing your stupid face, James."

"Weird, isn't it?" he laughed. They all went to sit down, but James grabbed Cleo's arm and held her back. "What's he doing here?" he whispered, nodding his head to Regulus Black who awkwardly waved a little when he noticed they were staring at him.

"He's alright James," Cleo nodded. "I can fill you in later, but he's alright."

And that was enough for James. He went around the table and Regulus stood up to greet him, expecting nothing more than maybe a brisk handshake. But James, who knew Regulus from before he turned into a Death Eater, grabbed the boy's shoulders and embraced him tightly.

"Good to have you back, Black," James said, patting him on the shoulder.

"Good to see you, James," Regulus nodded.

They sat and caught up for a while, before Lily brought a few things out of her bag. "Here," she said, handing one to Cleo and one to Luna and Remus, "these are for you."

White envelopes with a gold sticker on it. Cleo opened hers up, turning the card over to read the words: "EAT, DRINK, AND BE MERRY (while we get married)."

"Oh my goodness Lily, congratulations!" Luna smiled, hugging her tightly. Lily beamed with joy, and James' cheeks were a little more red than usual.
