"the best part about being a strong woman is that you get to dress up and show off every once in a while"
"Can I just say I have a headache and stay here?" Cleo whined, half of her body draped over her bed and the other half flopped onto the wooden floor of the Girls' dormitory in the Gryffindor tower.
"No you cannot," Lily said, whipping Cleo's leg with a towel as she walked by wearing her beautiful green dress and pink heels. She was fastening delicate earrings to her ears when she yelled at Cleo to get up and get dressed again, receiving only a loud groan and a thump (which was Cleo's body fully hitting the ground).
"Cleo!"
"Alright! Fine!"
Luna waited in the Gryffindor common room for her friends. Remus thought she looked absolutely stunning in her dress, as it complimented her skin tone, brightened her eyes, and showed off her tan legs. He thought everything about her was gorgeous, and then he had to remind himself that she was taken already. He slouched in the couch by the fire, feeling sorry for himself, watching as James tried to cheer him up.
Lily came down the steps into the common room carefully, her pale pink heels clicking gently on the stone steps. Her hair she put up in a ponytail, and she looked amazingly bright. James stood from the couch with his mouth agape and his eyes wide, the right side of his lips tilting upwards as he looked at her as if she was his whole world.
"You-wow- Lily," James breathed, sounding like he had just ran a marathon as he ran his hand through his hair. He even took his glasses off and wiped them with his tattered t shirt and then put them back on, as though the smudge on his glasses was what was making her look that good.
Lily walked past the fumbling James and patted his shoulder a couple times to help, but it only limited his breathing anymore. "Thanks Potter," she whispered, her head down but the small smile on her lips unmistakable.
"Where's Cleo?" Remus asked her. Lily rolled her eyes and pointed to the stairs as the sound of a thud and then Cleo shouting, "I'm coming! Bloody hell, that hurt..."
Cleo finally came down, holding onto the walls of the staircase for dear life as she shakily slipped and stumbled around in the short heels Lily forced her into.
"Cleo, you-" Luna was about to scold tiredly, but stopped upon seeing the dark haired girl stand before them in the common room.
Everyone in the room would agree that they hardly recognized her. Her usually messy, dark hair that she either kept in its naturally curly state, or up, was now straight and nearly reached her elbows in length. Her blue eyes were particularly bright against the small amount of makeup on her eyes and the dark red of her lips. The freckles splayed across her nose and cheeks looked like little glowing constellations. She wore a dress that was dark blue, resembling a midnight sky with ruffles and depth and small little glowing jewels embedded into the fabric that truly looked like stars.
