The pain was unbearable. She couldn't breathe, and the gut wrenching reality of what was about to happen forced her to cry out for him.

"James!" Lily shouted, leaning against the kitchen counter with one hand under her belly. "James!" she screamed. James Potter came bursting into the kitchen, a look of absolute terror written on his face.

"Oh my God," he muttered, seeing his wife's pain written on her face. "Oh my God, oh my God," he kept mumbling.

"James," Lily breathed, trying to control herself. She wasn't sure if it was the hormones or the excruciating pain in her stomach, but she wanted to hit him. Hard. "James dear, it's time," she said lowly. The baby was coming.

"Oh my God," he shouted. Lily rolled her eyes.

"Remus, I need you," she called out. Remus came into the kitchen quietly, taking in the scene before him. "He's useless," Lily gestured to her husband. He was breathing heavy and pulling his hair with both hands.

"James, grab the bag upstairs and get Sirius, I'm going to call a cab and get Lils outside," Remus said evenly, patting James' shoulder as he walked past him.

"The bag, yeah, I can get the bag," James mumbled breathlessly, walking out of the kitchen quickly.

"How's your pain?" Remus assessed.

"Not great, thanks for asking," Lily replied sarcastically. Remus went to the phone on the wall behind her and called for a cab to come and pick them up. Lily sat down slowly at the kitchen table, feeling her contractions begin to let up for a moment. Suddenly, the kitchen door swung open and banged against the wall behind it.

"Baby Sirius is coming!" Sirius shouted ecstatically, a huge grin across his face.

"We aren't naming it Sirius," Lily shook her head.

"You don't want to think about that a bit longer?" his shoulders dropped and his smile fell. Lily shook her head as she scrunched up her nose. "Fine, whatever, I'm not hurt at all, it's fine."

James walked back into the kitchen after Sirius, a large bag slung over his shoulder. He looked more put together than before. "Alright darling I've got clothes, some snacks for the boys, some of your makeup, a hairbrush," he continued to rattle off some of the things he had in the bag.

"It's all fine James, thank you," she smiled. Before her contractions began again, she looked around at the kitchen, and at the three boys who were all running around trying to take care of her. Cleo's presence was still missed, but at least she had these boys. Her contractions began to come back and Lily screeched in pain again, doubling over.

"Where's the cab?" James rushed over, brushing Lily's hair out of her face and holding onto her shoulders as she continued to wince.

"Cab's outside," Someone from the hallway shouted, before a door slammed. Peter walked into the kitchen and looked at Lily. "How exciting," he smiled meekly.
