"Wine?" a guy in his white dress shirt and bow tie appeared in my side. He's holding a bottle of wine and a piece of cloth. Must be one of the servers.
I had to blink multiple times. I was spacing out the whole time. I nod at him and gestured my wine glass.
Hinayaan ko lang siyang punuin ito. Pang-ilan ko na ba to? I'm not really sure, fifth maybe?
How I wish wine could get me drunk.
I thought I could have fun tonight. I thought this is going to be my escape from all the suffocating wave of problems piling up yet here comes another problem. Everyone else is enjoying the night except for me.
I drank the glass of wine. Bottoms up and asked one of the servers to pour me another glass.
Panay ang usap nila tungkol sa plano nila sa darating na bakasyon. Everyone else is gathered around the table. Hindi ako makasunod sa pinag-uusapan nila dahil lumulutang ang utak ko sa kung saan. Thank God I am sitting beside Lucy and Alexis. Au and Maia seemed to be very busy with their partners. I don't think I can look at him in the eyes. I don't even think I could stay at this table. I badly want to go back to the dorm and lock myself in the bathroom. I should get some nice shower to calm my system. I think I'm broke. My mind is not working well.
"You're zoning out. Is there a problem?" napabalikwas akong bumaling sa katabi. I thought I'm safe from the conversation. I stared at her and I couldn't help but point out our similarities.
We have the same almond-shaped eyes except that her's were almost white and mine were charcoal grey. She had the rarest eye color. Bee-stung lips with the perfect cupid's bow and arched brows. We shared the same heart-shaped face.
"I'm just kind of dizzy maybe I should head back to the dorm." I said in a louder voice to allow everyone to hear it. I pushed back my seat and stood up drinking the last drop of wine from my glass.
Nabaling sa akin ang tingin nila. Hinawakan ko pa ang noo ko para pagmukhaing kapanipaniwalang nahihilo ako. Nakita ko na agad ang pagkunot noo ni Maia at pagnguso ni Au. They stopped conversing and threw me a concerned look.
"Sasama ako." I immediately panicked when Rhyan stood up.
"No!" napalakas ang sabi ko kaya agad akong tumikhim at saka pilit na kinalma ang sarili ko.
"I mean no thanks. Kaya ko naman. You don't have to worry yourselves." nginitian ko pa sila para pumayag sila.
"Baliw ka ba. Nahihilo ka na nga tapos maglalakad ka pa pabalik ng dorm. Pano kung himatayin ka sa daan? Sasamahan na kita." dire-diretsong sabi ni Maia at saka tumayo na rin.
"No you stay here. She'll come with me." hindi na ko nakaangal nang hilain niya ako paalis. His pale arms guided me in my elbows as we stormed out of the venue.
Nakahinga ako nang maluwag nang tuluyan kaming makalabas. The cold breeze embraced us along with the darkness.
Napayakap ako sa sarili ko nang madama ang lamig pero agad din iyong nawala nang pumatong ang coat na kanina'y suot ni Jay.
"Thanks." I mouthed.
He stood in front of me crossing his arms and staring at me intently.
"You were lying." he casually said. A small grin formed in his lips. Nanlalaki ang matang tiningnan ko siya mas yinakap ko pa ang sarili ko at binalot sa coat na binigay niya.
"What do you mean?" I tried so hard to hide guilt in my voice. Napaawang ang labi ko nang bigla na lamang siyang bumunghalit ng tawa.
His shoulders were shaking up and down.
