Feeling the warmth of the Sunday morning wake me up, I slowly opened my eyes. I feel like God was telling me to wake up. So, I brushed myself off and ran downstairs hoping dad was with mom eating breakfast. Sadly, dad was not here. I saw my mom sitting on the chair where dad used to sit before breakfast. She was tearing up. I wanted to ask her about what happened but as she saw me coming nearer, she looked away. She wiped her teary eyes with her sleeve.

"Oh, Janice! You're up early!" mom said with a fake smile.

"Yeah, I was hoping dad was here." I said looking at the window.

"Yeah, me too." Mom looked down and wiped her cheek.

I wanted to ask mom what happened. Why is dad not yet coming home? When I asked her the same question, she gave me the same answer. "I don't know." Mom replied.

I would not believe. There is something wrong. But what is it? I went back to my room and cried a tear. Where are you, dad?

Today is Sunday and we cannot miss a worship service. I would really want to skip this service because I feel incomplete without a family member. But mom forced me to attend without dad. "If I can, you can too without him." She said as she tapped my shoulders.

While in the worship service, all I prayed was God, please let dad come home. Please, Lord, let dad come home. Mom was crying worshipping the Lord as I pray quietly that dad would come back.

In perfect timing, the pastor's sermon was about waiting. And it hit us hard.

"but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."

-Isaiah 40:31

Thank you Lord for reminding me. Reminding us. We will surely wait for dad.

Suddenly, someone put his arm over mom's shoulders. "Why didn't you wait for me?" dad translated in sign language so I could understand. Mom was shocked, crying, she hugged my dad. She said something that made dad laugh. And dad approached me and said "I've heard you."

Did he? Did God delivered my prayers to him? Oh, thank you Lord.

After the service, I was excited to go out and eat with them in my favorite restaurant in California, The Restaurant at Meadowood. "I'm going to treat you there!" dad exclaimed. Now, I can say that I really cannot stand to miss a worship service without my dad.

I missed him.

And now he is here! Thanks God!

Can't wait to tell my dad lots of stories!
