Today, it is very quiet in the house. Mom as much as she wants to talk to dad. Dad seemed so distant. Mom was the one who dropped me to school and I just told her whatever happens, I believe God will restore what is broken.
At school, Ms. Kitty lectured us about Conjunctions. I remember that from last year. The buts and ifs.
"A conjunction is a part of speech that connects words, phrases or clauses. It also joins sentences. Of course from the word itself, right?" Ms. Kitty pointing at the examples on the whiteboard. "Molly, can you read the first example please."
"Jennifer did - didn -- did not uh, go to school because she is ill." Molly said.
Oh yeah. Where is Holly? I asked Molly and he said that she is sleeping in their house.
"Is she sick?" I asked him. "Maybe." He said.
"Tell me where the conjunction is." Ms. Kitty focused at Molly.
"Because." I whispered to Molly. "Because!" Molly exclaimed.
"Next example please, Will read it."
Will read it but I don't think Ms. Kitty heard it. "Uhm Will? I think you need to open your mouth more." I whispered to him. "Where, Will? Read the next one."
I raised my hand and told Ms. Kitty that he is really soft spoken. "You can at least try, boy!" Ms. Kitty exclaimed. "Sometimes, you need to try if not you will stay like that! Don't be shy!"
I looked at Will and he breathe and spoke louder. I breathe as well. At least, he tried it in a louder voice.
"The teacher gets grumpy whenever her student shouts." Will said.
Welp. At least, his voice is not shouting.
"Next Pia. I prepared a Braille system which you could read." Ms. Kitty assisted Pia.
"Make sure he reads your letter until his mom come home." Pia hid her tears. "Until."
I wanted to ask her but I think Ms. Kitty would call me next. "The bird--
"Okay, that is it! Now—
"What? Where is my example?" I thought. I saw many examples on the board but why did she stopped.
"—I want you Janice to make your own sentence using the conjunction but."
Oh. Oh. But.
Uhm, what?
I started thinking. Lord, what can I say? I looked at them and they focused on me, what I was going to say. Uh, Lord, help. What? Okay, so my brain is really working now.
"For God didn't give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control." I said accidentally.
Ms. Kitty focused on me more. "Janice?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry! I didn't mean to say that. I- Oh gosh. The first words I thought came out to my mouth. I'm sorry, miss. Really sorry, Miss Kitty." I told her, thinking that she would not scold me afterwards.
"Thank you." Ms. Kitty calmly said.
What? What just happened?
"Okay, let's go on with the next exercises." She turned her attention to the next activities she prepared.
What just happened? I may not know it but I know it is your work, Lord.
Suddenly, I feel God spoke to me, "Do not judge other people for they have their own battles."
Wow. Just wow.
Thank you, Father!
