Today is the day where I put on my flower printed dress with my white sneakers. Mom and I put our best dress because we are know headed to see dad. Oh Lord! I have been waiting for this moment!

"Janice, before anything else, let us not forget the one who made this day possible!" Mom held my hands and prayed for our trip to dad. Finally, I can now hear what she has to say.

"Lord God, this day would always be for you. We thank you for this girl that we are now going to see dad. This girl has been a daddy's girl and I know that she will be so happy to see him again. As for Joseph, I hope he is safe waiting and expecting us. Holy spirit, have your way in Jesus name. Amen!" Mom said in calm, peaceful voice. It's like instrumental music when she prays.

I jumped in the car with my letter to dad. I just wrote it last night before I go to bed. It's a letter where I am saying sorry for everything and the surprise that I can now hear. I told my mom the plan on the surprise and she just agreed.

The keys were turned and the car was struggling. "What is happening?" mom said in a loud voice. She turned it again but again it wasn't starting. "Wait, I'll check first!"

It was a normal day for me like before when mom's car really is annoying. But no worries! God's got us covered. After a few minutes, there was mom covered in black smoke. Oh gosh! The smoke went straight to her face. She fixed it and at last the car started. "Just a quick facial wash, okay? I'll get back!" she exclaimed.

Looking at the window, I see a little girl chased by his dad and caught her. He scooped her up and tickled her. I smiled remembering my daddy.

Me: Lord, I miss my childhood. Dad used to do that to me.

God: Fathers will always love their children. Sometimes, he chases after them.

Me: Lord, thank you for being the Father to me. You were always there for me. Sorry for being stubborn sometimes.

God: I know. Children are really like that. But do know that no matter how far you go, I will always come looking for you.

I was just touched by what God said and shocked as mom sat beside me. "Okay, let's gooooooooo!" Mom said excited.

It was a mixed feeling knowing that we are going to meet dad. I have never seen him for quite some time and there was a sense of longing I was feeling. During the trip, nothing comes to my mind except the question, "How is dad?" until mom broke the silence.

"Seems you are thinking deeply."

"Yeah, just thoughts."

"Don't worry honey! I'm sure he misses you too."

"I know."

I wondered how survived when dad and I were gone. I realized how strong this woman is beside me. Thanks to Aunt Helena who took care of her while we're gone.

At last, the police station. I was kinda nervous but also excited. Mom got down first and I asked the Holy Spirit for courage. I stepped down the car and grabbed mom's arm.

"Excuse me, may I speak to Atty. Witting, please." Mom asked the police in the lobby.

"Yes, he has been expecting you, Mrs. Melbourne?" The police officer asked.

Mom confirmed and the police officer let her sign some papers. "Janice, stay there first." She commanded.

I sat on the sofa near the police desk, patiently waiting. I stood up for quite a while and sat down again. I am unsure of what will happen next. A few minutes later, a bearded man with his hair messy walked towards me. "Janice!"

"Dad?"

I recognized him. Oh dad had grown a beard now.

"Dad!"

He started moving his hands and I handed him my short letter. He got it and read it with his eyes. He hugged me like a stuffed toy with tears in his eyes. "To whoever that kind man is, I owe him."

"Yes, dad! It was Mr. Kelly!" I exclaimed, grinning at him.

"I'm sorry, who?" Dad with a puzzled look, stepped back and stared at me.

Oh gosh what did I just do? What did I just do?

Mom heard it and broke between us. She also wants to say something, but she didn't. Oh God. What should we do?

"Wait, what? Mr. who?"

Will I say it? Dad is asking me. I looked at mom and she looked at me like I had to zip my mouth. Mom doesn't want to say it as well. "Uhm, Mr. Jelly." I faked my laugh. I can hear the police officers listening at us and laughing. What? I don't know what to say but something that rhymes with Kelly. I'm doomed.

Awkward...

The lawyer of dad walked towards us. "Hey, are you Janice?" I nodded. "Good news, darling. Your dad's case will soon be over."

He is a bit straightforward but I like it that way. "Thank you so much, Sir!" I shook his hands.

"Okay, Mrs. Melbourne, it's time for my client to go back." Mr. Witting said.

"Can we just talk for a while? Please. Last minute sir?" mom pleaded.

I am a bit scared that mom would spill me to dad. They talked privately while Mr. Witting brought out a topic. "You missed your dad so much, huh?"

"Yes sir. I'm happy that he is just fine here. Thank you."

"Don't worry, he misses you too. In fact, he wants to get out of his cell as soon as possible to find you."

Did he know?

"Find me?"

"Yes, you were lost right? Your mom told him that if ever you visit him here at least she'll know."

Oh mom!

After a small talk, we hugged and kissed dadbefore going back to his room. Mom can't let go of his hand but dad removed herhand from his. "Don't worry, honey. I'll come back soon." He smiled.
