Life In A Leg Braces

Everyone was quiet today. I can't blame them because the leader is starting to lose her usual self again.

Archie was just drawing something in a corner, Eric and Chang was looking the glass windows, Owens and Brooky is talking to each other silently, Taylor was applying bandages on his head wounds, The twins are tinkering our new cars, Lauren is just walking around problematically. Allison was out of sight.

I sighed and just helped the twins to tinker the cars.

"What did she say?" Lauren approached us and asked me.

"The usual. To leave her alone and I can do this by myself." I groaned.

"Well we can't blame her. She just lost the ability to walk." Eric said when he heard our conversation.

"Can she can build a robot legs for herself or something?" Chang asked.

"She can. But she wouldn't like that idea. She lost everything. Her son, her company and even her acting life because she lost the use of her legs." Eric answered.

My chest felt heavy for hearing everything. We are the only one that Hayley got now. Eric is right. She lost everything and that gave me pain.

"Robert, you know that you're the only person that she listens to." Taylor said.

"She didn't listen to me this time." I said without looking at them.

"She's facing a terrible time right now. You are the one that should understand her." Shawn exclaimed.

"I understand everything. But she told me that she's useless now and to just leave her alone." I said trying hard not to weep.

"Do you think she is useless?!" Lance bawled. I've never seen the twins shouted at me before.

"I don't think that way. She'll always be my love and she will never be useless. I vowed to protect her and Zion." I said truthfully.

The elevator opened in the middle of the argument and Allison walked in.

"I think i've found a way to get Stark back to her old self again." She said and everyone looked at her including me.

To my surprise, Richard also came out of the elevator while holding something I don't recognize. He was so bony and thin now. I understand that because of his illness.

"DAD?" The twins was thunderstruck and ran to give their dad a hug.

"What happened? Where is she?" Asked Richard and looked at me.

I told him everything that happened. How we got ambushed, how we lost Zion and how Hayley became crippled. I stuttered in every word and sudden weakness climbed up into me.

Everyone was looking at the tile floor now and Richard's gray eyes became watery. He just found out that his oldest child lost the ability to walk.

"W-where is she?" He asked and closed his eyes to stop his tears.

"She's at the beds, dad." I said without looking at his teary eyes.

"I still have another idea." Allison said and grabbed the metal things that Richard was holding.

I realized that those were leg braces.

"I don't think Stark will like that one." Brooky said in the back.

"She needs to if she wants to see Zion again." Allison said and looked at me.

"Can you go talk and fetch her for us?" She pleaded and I went to the room where the bunk beds are.
