Chapter 16 ~ James route 2 ~ Study slumber party

''Students, hereby I will give out all your current average marks for all of your subjects. If your current average for a subject is lower than a D-minus, you must take extra exams that take place after the Winter holidays to get your grade up. Would you have a low mark on a practical class you are required to spend your Winter holidays at school. Those with an average mark of B-plus or higher get one extra assignment. The assignment shall be chosen for you.'' I looked at the teacher who was standing in front of the class. Well teacher... he was the spokesperson for our entire class. Where Waltz only had a hand full of students, this guy here was responsible for everyone in this class. When a mentor would notice an issue with the student and could not solve it with him or her, the student would have to be directed to the spokesperson instead. One by one he called the students forward. Me being one of the first since my last name started with an A.

When back at my desk I opened the given enveloppe. I knew I had passed, the few C's I had received did not do much to my average grade but studying extra on those subjects would not be a bad thing. There was an extra page however regarding the extra assignment. Figured. I did not look forward on spending a well earned holiday doing homework but I suppose that I had to go through this quick but thorough. I read it through making me sigh. Now they were just being mean and had given me this on purpose. At the least I had until halfway February to do this.

During lunch break Leylia laid her head on the table. ''I am so dead... if I want to pass I need a B-plus at least on two tests.'' she said with a sigh. ''Maybe you should spend less time with Bleys.'' I teased causing her to blush and I looked at Bleys, her now boyfriend. I had not gone to the annual Halloween festivities but instead had helped the boys to set up for a grand Halloween weekend at the mansion. I was not familiar with the trick or treat concept yet but long story short, we turned the ground floor into some kind of haunted house with the boys and I dressing up as various creatures. I do admit scaring the hell out of children was very amusing. ''How did you do Bleys?'' I asked. ''Not to bad I suppose, I am out of the danger zone so that is good enough for me. You?'' he asked and I showed him the assignment. ''Hehehe that's what you get for being a showoff.'' Leylia grinned. ''Worry about your own grades.'' I replied and stuck my tongue out. ''Say [___]? You are good at physics and chemistry right?... Please tutor me?'' Leylia begged. ''How about we all study together in the holidays? We could turn it into a sleepover.'' Jonathan suggested. ''That is a good idea. But where?'' Bleys asked. ''Ehm... I'll have to ask my caretakers but there is enough room at where I live. I am sure that studying will not be a problem but the sleepover... I can imagine they would not exactly like that without me asking'' I suggested. ''I'll be sure to ask my caretakers when I am home although we do need to establish a date. ''You're a lifesaver!'' Leylia said and threw her arms around me in a hug.

''So given that, would it be alright to invite my friends over to study for a few days?'' I asked when sitting at the dining table. ''Hmm I don't see why not, although the boys will have to sleep on a separate room. Christmas is on a Monday and Tuesday so best is if your friends come on the Wednesday and leave on the Thursday before Christmas. That way we still have time for the last minute food shopping.'' James said. '' Is it really alright? I mean... there are other options.'' The library was open as well although it was our last resort. ''Not to worry Miss, we would like meeting your friends.'' James assured. ''I agree. Your friends are probably just as lovely as yourself.''Erik said with a sly smile. ''As if they would be interested in you. Say [___] call me if you are about to engage in a pillow fight. Would not want to miss that.'' Matthew said. By just looking in his eyes alone I could tell he was looking forward to do that. Damien smiled too. Sam had this grin and I realised that would he engage in this so called pillow fight we would be needing new pillows before we knew it. ''I do not know if it will come to a pillow fight guys.'' I admitted. ''We need to study after all and it is easy to lose yourself when having fun.'' I could see from the smile on James' face he was glad with what I said. ''Will you have homework too or are you just helping your classmates.'' Damien asked. He could hear my answer before I spoke probably. ''Those with exceptional grades get an extra assignment. I am one of the lucky ones.'' I sighed. ''What is your assignment?'' James asked. ''I need to do a short internship in a company for a week, make a report on everything I have done. Also come up with a solution to a problem on the company floor and have that executed.'' I replied. ''Oh that sucks...'' Matthew said. ''When is this assignment due?'' Damien asked. ''Mid February so they are giving me a bit over two months.'' I said. I was glad I got the time for this but I did have to arrange a good few things to get this done. ''Well... you could walk at the precinct if you want. It is not exactly a company of course but it could work.'' Sam suggested. ''If you want Angel I could show you around for a week at the nightclub.'' Erik added. ''Erik, the only problem she probably would have to think a solution for are all the STD's.'' Sam commented with a grin. Erik had this fake offended face on and Matthew and Damien were laughing. James had a smirk as well but did not lose his composure. ''Miss, why not take a look on some of the departments at Anderson Toys. You could be guided by Matthew, Damien or me. The way you helped Matthew with his toys how Halloween was well done. I will leave the choice up to you.'' James said and I nodded. ''Thank you James. I will take it into consideration. Since I live with all of you I might need to ask the school if it is alright to begin with. I'll let you know.'' I smiled. Hopefully I could join one of them to get my assignment done. If so, I thought about joining James. He helped me going to school in the first place and he did his job as CEO very well. At home I knew James but I wondered how he was like when he was at work. Would he be the same? Or different? And if so in what way?
