Chapter 25 ~ Matthew route ~ Care

Waltz opened his eyes as he heard a phone go off. It took him nearly an hour to stabilize his sister and he was so exhausted he fell asleep whilst sitting on the chair. ''Are you not going to get that?'' Erin asked. ''It are probably her caretakers asking if she is on her way home.'' ''I am aware...'' Waltz said and opened my bag, retrieving my phone but did not pick up. ''You have never spoken to her caretakers before have you.'' Erin asked and Waltz shook his head. ''I tried visiting her home once. A barrier kept me out.'' he admitted. ''A barrier kept you out?'' Erin asked. ''I could have broken it without any trouble but I only cared that she was safe not with whom she lived with. The creator of the barrier assured me that she was safe and that the barrier prevents both Devils and Angels from entering.'' Waltz sighed. ''But it does let her in and she is your sister...'' Erin replied sceptical. ''I am aware. The one who created the barrier probably did not see her as a threat, or because she was let in there was no issue. Regardless, she was safe there so I did not bother.'' he fell silent and noticed the phone had done so too. Erin released an annoyed sigh. ''Give me that...'' Waltz did not even have time to respond before she snatched the phone from his hands and unlocked it. ''You did that way to easy...'' he noted and she smirked. ''She and I shared some secrets. I am not saying she is gullible or to trusting and what she shared with me was probably because she wanted to include me in her circle of friends but having an important date as pincode is not exactly difficult.'' she said. It was not the first time my phone had rung. ''Lots of Matthew... texts too asking where she is. Oh it is ringing again. Sam apparently. Wait... this picture... oh wow this must be fate.'' she said with a smile and before Waltz could protest she picked up the phone holding it close to her face which she instantly regret. ''FINALLY DOOFUS WE ARE WORRIED SICK! WHERE ARE YOU!'' Sam called. Waltz with a glare could prevent Erin from shouting back. ''Call me a doofus again and you will regret it.'' she hissed. ''And stop shouting, [_1_] is sleeping.'' ''Sleeping? Where... did something happen?'' Sam asked. ''And who are you.'' ''Erin. A new friend of hers at school. Apparently [_1_] had some sort of memory lane meltdown. She got tended to and is in safe hands but is knocked out cold.'' Erin replied. ''Where is she...'' Sam asked. Erin looked at Waltz who opened his hand. Erin took the hint and gave him the phone. ''Hello Sam. [_1_] is with me. My name is Ezeq...'' ''Ezeq? How the hell did [_1_] end up with you!'' ''You talk as if you know me.'' Waltz replied. ''Uhh yea? You are helping us with Mika...'' Sam replied. Waltz froze. He was right. That gut feeling when he saw Mika's nametag in the hospital. Anderson. The same last name his sister had gotten. It was not as if it was that much of an uncommon name but still. He should have double checked this. ''Still there?'' Sam asked. ''Y-yea... get your brothers and yourself to my place. We need to talk. Erik knows the way.'' he said and hung up before anything else could be asked. ''Erik? The same Erik who comes here on occasion?'' Erin asked and Waltz nodded. ''Yea. This is going to be difficult.'' he sighed. ''Question. Are they incubi by any chance? I recognise the picture of this Sam.'' Erin said and Waltz nodded. ''Yea. Why.'' he asked. ''Do I need to remind you that they know me? I was there when Malix attacked them. They will be at my throat within a second.'' she said. ''Well. You are Erin now right? Once you see red you are Eris. And we have a deal. I help you, you help me. If you are afraid that they will hurt you, I will protect you. It is that simple.'' Waltz sighed. ''Even against Erik?'' Erin asked. ''Yes. Even against Erik.'' Waltz assured. Erin nodded and looked at me. ''Will... she wake up?'' she asked and Waltz smiled for a brief moment. ''Do you question my abilities Erin.'' Waltz asked. ''She just looks so far away...'' Erin sighed. ''My sister will be fine. The memories must have triggered because she returned my necklace which she once gave me ages ago. It broke the magic that blocked her memories to begin with. She has been regaining memories over the past several months. For that reason she is going to be fine but needs to rest. She will wake up by herself.'' Waltz said although could not hide the concern on his face. He suddenly had a smile though when looking at Erin. ''What...'' Erin asked with a raised eyebrow. ''That you care. About her wellbeing. You have not known her for that long yet but you are worried about her.'' Waltz said as he got off the chair he sat on. Erin just scoffed. ''I wouldn't if she had not enthralled me during her first day at school.'' she said and looked away. ''Whatever you say.'' Waltz said with a smile and looked at his sister laying in the bed before walking over and placed a kiss on his brow. ''Get well...'' he said and together with Erin he left the room.
