Chapter 07 ~ Damien Route 1 ~ Indulgence

After helping bringing the bags of new clothes to my room, Erik excused himself since he had to prepare to go to work. Damien on the other hand stayed behind and helped me getting the new clothes in the wardrobe after ridding them from price tags.

''What happened to you at the hospital when we arrived exactly? Do not think I did not notice.'' he said softly. Not as an accusation since he really sounded concerned but he probably was just as confused as I was.

''I am not sure. I just felt weird. A hospital however is a place where people feel grief, pain and perhaps anger. But also joy. Maybe those emotions when strong enough, rub off on me. But I can only speculate. I wish I remember what I am or who.'' I reply.

Damien sat down on the edge of the bed. ''It seems you kept it secret for everyone. Diana did not seem to know either. You remembered nothing of it?''

I shook my head and sat down next to Damien. ''I don't. Truth be told remembering scares me. I did not have many attacks resulting of remembering and those whom I had after the first were not as bad but it hurt. It felt like my head was about to split in two. I really want to remember my interactions with you and your brothers when I was a harem girl but...'' I could not finish the sentence myself.

''But you are afraid it will unleash something it shouldn't.'' Damien added to which I could only nod in defeat. ''Time moves five times faster in the Abyssal Plains after all and your father does not exactly sound like the sympathetic person to cut me some slack after you five left. Especially since I knew where you were all headed. I did seem to have told Diana though where you went. Sorry about that. If I hadn't your friend might still be alright.''

''No need to apologize. It was not as if you could've known and knowing Diana she would have found out at some point anyway. Regarding that Succubus though, from what I picked up she was truly regretting what she did to Mika. But also grateful for what you did regarding saving her family. She had underestimated your importance to the Demon Lord though. I think it is safe to say that he found out Diana helped you escape and attacked her kingdom for it.'' Damien released a soft sigh and rubbed his forehead releasing a soft grunt.

I nodded in agreement. I was about to say something else but noticed something was off. ''Damien are you alright?...''

He forced a smile but that could not fool me. ''Headaches... they are not a stranger to me.'' he replied. ''Want me to get some water and aspirin?'' I asked.

''N-no there is no need it will not help anyway.'' he replied. He attempted to suppress a grunt but failed miserably. It felt like a small shockwave went through my head. A memory shooting back in place making me recall he got these headaches when he ran out of energy. It hit me too, something I had not thought about at all due to the enjoyments today brought. Damien had no control over his mind reading at all. All these people today at the mall and hospital must have taken a huge toll on him. Probably just as much of not more on me. I remember something else as well. Him being the bastard son who aside by his brothers was looked at like trash, had difficulty getting energy to begin with since nobody wanted to get near him. A blush appeared on my cheek remembering that on occasion I'd give him my energy if only to stop him from getting headaches.

I got on my feet and stood in front of him so I could take a good look at him and cupped his face. ''Damien... let me help you.

I felt him tremble underneath my touch. 'Hesitant as always' was the thought that crossed my mind first. ''It is nothing really... I am used to this.'' Damien said but the pain increased more and more or he was getting less good at suppressing it. Was he trying to convince himself or me I wandered. I said his name again which made him look at me and made our eyes meet. ''Y-you...''
