Chapter 21 ~ Damien route 5 ~ Guardian Angel

I felt the rain fall on my face and became aware of the wet dirt beneath me. My eyes opened next and I could see Damien hovering over me feeling his hands on my shoulders. His lips moved but it took me a moment before I could hear him. ''[___]... you're awake...'' Damien said relieved and pulled me up holding me close against him. Despite being soaked, he felt warm. As my mind recollected itself I started to recall what happened and put my arms around Damien. ''It's alright. I will not let anything happen to you.'' Damien assured. ''...'' I wanted to say something. Anything but the words just did not come out. ''I know you were scared. It's ok now.'' Damien kept whispering. I tried to order my thoughts. Both to calm myself down and not to assault Damien's mind with everything that went through my head. I however felt very weak. Keeping my eyes open was already taking everything I had. I was like a rag doll. Soon however I heard sirens. ''We should go home. Being part of a supernatural investigation is the last thing we should be mixed up in.'' he said and he scooped me up still holding me close. His gaze however went to the sky noticing Cassindra hovering in the air. ''Going so soon?'' Cassindra asked.. ''Have you not done enough?'' Damien asked. ''If you want to blame anyone, blame those good for nothing white feathered basterds.'' Cassindra replied. ''However the turn of events was a surprise. Her recalling your name, the magic she used...'' she said and sighed. ''I know what you are thinking. You're wrong. She is not an Angel.'' Damien said making Cassindra look at him with a lopsided grin. ''You have no knowledge about the magic she used do you. All that raw power. Although the collateral damage was a bit much don't you think?'' she said and looked at the tower. Or what was left of it. It was far from as high as it used to be. Rubble still seemed to fall down even but we were on a safe distance. ''The light that shines through everything. Did you know that it is an Archangel spell? You were lucky that she missed you or you would've ended up like that tower. Oh well, you managed to entertain me so like I promised I will leave Mika alone. Nothing beats a good show.'' She said and smiled sweetly before descending and approached before aiming her hand at me and a soft glow came off it that healed the claw marks on my abdomen before she turned around. ''Wait...'' Damien said. ''Making demands are we?'' Cassindra asked. ''I said it right? If you want to save both, entertain me. We will be in touch. But I will stand by what I said before. Do not get used to her presence too much. After all I will bring her to the Demonlord. Although... maybe I am going to make some plans of my own.'' Cassindra said and left. Damien cast one more look at the building before looking at me. ''I will not allow her to get you either.'' he said and I nodded. I felt a hum of magic and the cold surroundings vanished in a gentle flash of light.

''Damien... [___]...'' Sam's voice was the first I heard. ''Is she ok? Wait. Is that blood?!'' Matthew asked. ''She was wounded but Cassindra healed her. [___] used magic and is very exhausted.'' Damien said. ''And you lost your glamour spell...'' Erik said although Damien did not seem to care. I slowly managed to move again making everyone look at me. ''Miss... take it easy...'' James said. ''I-I will be ok...'' I said softly. ''I am out of energy that's all...'' I said. Damien refused to put me down though. Instead James got closer and placed his hand on my brow. ''Get her to her room and cover her up. Let the bath run too. We need to warm her up.'' James said and Damien nodded. ''Any news about Mika?'' Damien asked. ''I called Ezeq. He is with her now.'' Erik replied. ''He would call me back if something changed.'' Damien sighed relieved with this news. ''You said that the feathered bitch showed up?'' Sam asked and Damien nodded. ''What did she want?'' Erik asked. ''No idea. She healed [___] and said that she was entertained so would not go after Mika.... I do not know how well we can trust her word though.'' Damien replied. ''I'll let Ezeq know.'' Erik said. There was a tension in the air I could feel it. ''What happened to Mika... and who is Ezeq'' I managed to ask. ''Don't worry about it alright?'' Damien said before he carried me off to my room. There, he wrapped me up in the blankets not caring if they became dirty and he filled the bath with warm water. ''Why... why does misfortune keep following me.'' I whispered when Damien returned from the bathroom. ''I am just... so useless.'' Damien looked at me as I spoke and sat down next to me pulling me in a hug. ''Don't say that. You protected me. What kind of crazy spell was that...'' he said and I looked at him. ''I don't know... it entered my mind and I cast it without thinking. Before I knew it I was falling..'' Damien looked at me and placed a kiss on my brow. ''You're safe now. Out of energy though by the looks of it. Your eyes are switching between blue and gold...'' ''And we still do not know what I am... '' I said with a sigh. ''What was it about Mika though...'' I asked and Damien sighed. ''Well... that Fallen Angel of before put a spell on her. She showed up earlier telling us that we could only save your or Mika.'' Damien replied. ''Unless we managed to entertain her.'' ''Why is she doing this...'' I asked and Damien looked at me. He knew something, but I could tell he did not want to share this with me. However, he did. ''The Angel she... works for the Demonlord. All she does is because her order was to make the life of me and my brother miserable. I am sorry. Because of us you had to go through this...'' he said and I shook my head. ''Don't feel guilty... you are not responsible for her actions. She is responsible for herself. We'll get through this.'' I said before I got on my feet. ''Damien... thank you. For saving me.'' I said and he gave me a sweet but worried smile. ''I promised back then didn't I?'' Damien said and I smiled. ''I remembered the moment you told me your true name. I remember your promise as well. Now I am thinking back, I made one to you as too. That I would always be there for you also. 'I'm going to bathe ok? And sleep. I'll be ok. Best is if I am alone for a bit. Last thing I want is to do things I regret because of starvation'' I said and sighed. ''Make sure to call for us if you need us though...''Damien said and I looked at him. ''I will.'' I replied and watched him leave. The bath felt good and it warmed me up physically. Still I could not stop shivering. My thoughts continually went from the bus crashing, the people being burned and being in that tower. After washing up I pulled the filthy sheets of the bed and went straight to bed hoping I would feel better in the morning.
