''Should we not come back another time?'' I asked Matthew. It was Saturday the 17th of November and despite it being morning it was still busy. ''Well, between your studies and your job, until you have your holidays this is the only time we have.'' Matthew said. His puppy eyes looking at me pleading. He was not wrong, more often than not I was busy and I could feel the stress starting to take its toll. My grades were still stable but I noticed I was getting more tired. ''No need for those puppy eyes Matthew. I promised I'd help you and help you with this tournament I will. And I will enjoy it too. So let's get started.'' I said with a wink and entered the arcade. Matthew blinked a few times at me surprised before joining me.

We had been here a couple more times before and I was glad that there was some progress. Despite the controls for the arcade games were different compared to at home, practising there also contributed to my improvement. ''Out of our way.'' A young man said as he shoved me aside harshly to sit down where Matthew and I just wanted to. He did not seem older than 18 years old and was followed by a few others, making a group of five. ''Lets just go elsewhere.'' I said as I noticed Matthew wanted to take action. ''Listen to your girlfriend shorty.'' the young man said and another who was with him laughed. ''Yea. Take her out shopping or something. Girls do not belong in here.'' They then turned around and looked at me. ''Although... a cute face like yours can have a place here. On my lap.'' he said and smirked. ''What do you say sweetcheeks. I am sure I can satisfy you more than this little fellow.'' he said looking at Matthew, whose hand I grabbed. Whatever Matthew wanted to say he stopped and I took my chance instead. ''Alas, you do not seem to have anything to satisfy me with.'' I replied calmly. I took a step forward to make sure he and his friends heard. ''After all, it does not take an expert to see you are having more dick in your personality than in your pants. Maybe you will sound less of a dick if you stop eating them.'' I gave them an innocent smile while the young man stood there perplexed and his friends could not help but chuckle. ''Let's go Matthew.'' I said with a smile and looked at him as I pulled him over to one of the other games that was free.

''You did not just say that.'' he said and laughed as we sat down on the racing chairs. ''Yes I think I just did. I know you wanted to intervene and sorry. I have encountered people like that way to often at work. If you would've said anything they only would have laughed.'' I said and he nodded. ''Well I can make them tremble too but... that would result in whole other issues. Still, let me at them next time.'' he said and I nodded. ''I hope there is not one.'' I said and sighed. Matthew and I raced for a bit, and even discovered something in the game. Another duo joined us to test competitive duo racing which would be done as well during the contest.

''So the girl can game.'' the young man from before said after I crossed the finish line third. Matthew was first, and the other duo was fourth and sixth. ''What do you want now?'' Matthew asked him. I too wanted to speak but I agreed to it that Matthew could take care of it this time. ''Look, I think we started it wrong. Can we try again?'' he asked.''No. I think we got a really got first impression of you.'' Matthew replied. ''Just leave her alone.'' The demeanor of the young man changed again back to how it was first. ''Why would I. I can talk to whomever I please.'' he said and then looked as if he had an idea. ''Since you both are participating in the contest, how about a little wager. If I win, I get to take the lady on a date. If you win, I swear I will leave her alone.'' he oppered. Matthew looked at him pissed off and could not even believe this conversation was happening. ''She is not a prize.'' he said. From his posture I could see he was close to wanting to enthrall this guy and again I took Matthew's hand. Before any of us could say something else the owner showed up. ''Is there a problem?'' he asked. ''No. Not a problem at all.'' the young man said and left. ''Unfortunately his behaviour is not enough to kick him out. If it escalates tell me.'' he owner said to which Matthew and I nodded. ''Thanks for stopping me.'' Matthew said and I nodded. ''It is too busy to do such a thing unnoticed, not to mention, cameras. I do wonder who notified the owner though.'' I said and looked around. ''I did.'' I turned to a familiar voice, Braydon's. ''Oh hey how are today.'' I asked. ''Quite well thank you.'' Braydon said. My gaze went to Matthew. ''Matthew, this is Braydon. He works in the café too. Braydon, this is Matthew. One of the people I live with'' I said. Matthew held out his hand, which Braydon took. ''You are the one that picks her up on occasion right?'' Braydon asked and Matthew nodded. ''Yea. I ate there a few times too on the themed nights but never interacted with [_1_]'s coworkers before. Mainly because she always ends up serving me.'' Matthew said with a smile. ''Thanks for notifying the owner.'' ''You're welcome. I actually hoped that [_1_] could join us earlier today than usual since we have some things we have to... practise.'' he said. ''Practise?'' Matthew asked. ''Not here.'' I said and the three of us us left to find a quieter place. ''After the devil attacked, a conclusion had to be drawn. I might have a lot of magic power but I can not safely use it. I need to practise it and learn the basics again.'' I said. It jogged his memory. ''Oh yes you told us about that. Is it alright if I watch? Not that I do not trust you or your boss but I have not seen holy magic before.'' Matthew said. ''Sure. I will let Marseus know that we are having a spectator. Braydon said and took his phone. I looked at Matthew. ''I'm sorry... we were supposed to practise for the contest...'' I said and sighed. ''Hey don't worry about it. I have always wanted to participate in this event but not win it. And besides, you training your magic is more important. We can practise at home, most of the games I have are quite similar.'' he assured me. I nodded but still sighed. Yes, this was important but I was also hoping to spend a little more time with Matthew. Braydon told us to follow him and we did. He drove us to the café where Marseus was waiting.
