Chapter 20 ~ Sam route 6 ~ Dance with devils

((Little warning, this chapter contains mentions/ suggestions of rape and abuse and some violence.))

The following few days, I had started to feel strange physical wise but despite that kept going to school and work in the library. The day after the Halloween Ball, despite having the day off Sam got called by his work about a homicide where a couple had been attacked and the woman killed. The man had been tied against a tree in a park and flayed alive, his girlfriend was found mauled and torn apart with evidence of rape. The man was alive when found but died on his way to the hospital. But that had not been the only crime. In various parts of the city there had been reports of severely damaged corpses. Hearing that on the news made me shiver and thinking about it now still did. There were more leads however and the first arrests were made granting Sam even a moment on the local news channel. Even so since it was ongoing he could not say much about the current cases. Not even if they were related or if someone was being a copycat. At the end he requested any witnesses to come forth. School kept going however but there were more patrols on the school grounds.

Today was wednesday but the morning already started horrible. My dreams had been unpleasant but until this night had not been nightmares. I dreamt about being in chains and the Demonlord kept talking to me about how I had been left alone and that the incubi brothers had never cared for me at all. That they used me and toyed with me because they were bored. I was nothing but a diversion to help them get away from their boring lives. But that he forgave me and said I could have my revenge on them. There were images in the dream that I recognised, where I was running to a portal with the brothers until I fell. I could see Matthew, James and Damien at the other side of the portal, Sam and Erik were about to cross. I was actually not even that far away and when I had fallen Erik and Sam looked back. ''Good riddance she will only slow us down let's go.'' Erik said before stepping through the portal. ''You were fun while it lasted, say hi to the old man for me.'' Sam added with a devilish grin and went through the portal that closed afterwards. It was different from what Erik told me and could not believe the dream was true. Yet, it had made something heavy grow in my chest. The dream ended with the Demonlord telling me that nobody loved me but him and he would be the only one who never left me alone. Despite not being rested I did go to school. When the boys asked why I was so quiet I only answered that I simply did not sleep to well because of a nightmare. Time went torturously slow this morning though and was glad that lunch was over. Only one more class and after that I would help Waltz in the library.

I put my books in the locker and retrieved my gym bag. Something fell out of my locker though, a sealed envelope which certainly had not been there this morning. ''What the heck...'' I was certain I had not been the one putting it in there. ''Could this be?! You received a love letter!'' Leylia squealed. ''A love letter? Seriously what makes you so sure?'' I asked as I put the bag down picking the envelope up and opening it. ''Miss Anderson, I have been looking up to you for a while and have grown strong feelings for you. Please meet me behind the school near the running track alone when classes are over, M.'' as I read this confusion started to fill my head. I could not recall anyone whose first or surname started with a M.

''Ahw I wonder who it is... are you going? I can come with you right?'' Leylia asked. ''Well the instructions are for me to come alone. Besides you will be picked up right away right? Also, should I go? I mean... if it is a love confession and all... I am kind of taken.'' I said with a sigh which made Leylia gasp. ''You have a boyfriend?'' she asked and I realised that I had not told her yet. ''Yea well. About Sam, you were right.'' I replied with a blush. ''I will tell you the details later. What should I do with this? It would be mean if I did not go. Someone put time in this after all. What would you do?'' I asked Leylia. ''I would go. It is better to show up and tell him the feelings are not mutual than letting him or her wait for perhaps hours in the pouring rain.'' she stated simply and I nodded. ''How about I call you when I found out who this mysterious M person is.'' I suggested. ''Deal'' Leylia grinned and I put the letter in my locker again. ''Let's go before we're too late for gym class.''
