''Fall huh...'' I said with a sigh as I exited the house on Friday morning following Sam who as usual dropped me off. I stood where I was though looking at the trees showing off their lovely yellow and red. Most of the leaves however were brown and slippery on the road as cars drove over them over and over again. The wind was cold and it was going to be Winter soon as well. I wondered how cold it would get here. Matthew often spoke about snow and I was curious. If I had ever seen snow before I certainly did not remember it. I did hope that the sky would be bluer than it was now. Dark grey clouds had been in the sky for weeks and it was getting rather depressing. ''[___] are you coming?'' Sam asked. ''Y-yes sorry.'' I said with a smile and took a short sprint to reach him. ''You ok? You have been spacing out a lot lately.'' he said. ''I am? I did not notice...'' I said making Sam look at me slightly worried. ''Are you sure you are just not doing to much? School, your homework, doing fun stuff with us or your friends. You are even working. Do not think that I had not noticed light still coming out of your room at 11 last night.'' he said making me look at him. ''So you are spying on me doing my homework huh.'' I said with a chuckle. ''I take my necessary breaks I promise.'' I said with a smile. Sam was not entirely convinced however. ''Not to worry I am fine. This weather is just depressing.'' I said. ''I know right? Don't worry it will get better.'' he assured. I sat down in the front, placing the bag between my feet. ''You have work at the school library after your lessons right?'' Sam asked as we drove towards my school and I nodded. ''Seriously though I can't believe you choose to work there and at that cosplay café. Do not push yourself to much.'' he sighed. ''The café is just on Saturdays, although when the holidays come up I will be there a few more extra days because it will get busy.'' I said. ''Well as long as you keep Halloween off just like Christmas and New Years. If you skip Halloween I will not forgive you. If it is Christmas you will be missing out on Matthew is going to cry and New Years, well. You better be there. Just as with Thanksgiving. The only day I will let you off the hook is Valentine's day.'' Sam said. ''What is Valentines day?'' I asked almost afraid of the answer. ''The other holidays I mentioned include my favorite, Matthews, James' and Damiens. Valentine's day is Erik's most favorite day. Some weird tradition and I never really got my head around it but apparently humans give chocolates or roses, in some occasions even poetry to their lovers or crushes. Cards where affection is shown on are given and received as well even anonymous. Some go on dates and others have their hearts crushed.'' Sam explained. ''I don't even want to imagine how many letters you and your brothers get.'' I sighed. ''Way to much. Supernatural beings with the exception of Devils actually tend to receive a lot of them. Incubi even more.'' Sam admitted. ''Erik actually accepts everything every year and makes time to answer everyone. He however always rejects their feelings but in the manner he does it somehow when they leave they seem more lovey dovey. They do not confess to him a second time though so despite his ways they get the idea.'' he said making me giggle and shake my head. ''Well it does sound like him.'' I said. I looked at the music player and pressed play. When it came to music, Sam did have a good taste when it came to music to enjoy in the car. Eye of the tiger which was the first song in his playlist was something I slowly but sure became capable to of singing along.
''Thank you Sam, again. See you back at home.'' I said after he put the car to a stop in the school parking lot. ''No problem.'' I said with a smile and got out of the car. ''Oh Sam... do not worry. I will not skip on Halloween. School has a Halloween Ball but life is busy enough as it is. I will make most of it to celebrate it with you and your brothers.'' I said with a smile and closed the door, waving. He did not drive off though until I was inside the school. Classes went smoothly and after helping Leylia and the others a little during self study I headed to the library. ''Ahh [___]. Glad to see you again.'' Waltz said with a smile. His smile faded when he saw me not being my usual cheerful self. ''Something wrong?'' he asked and I shook my head. ''The weather is rubbing off on me.'' I admitted and helped him with his bookcart to put the books back where they belonged. ''And? Decided to go to the Halloween Ball?'' he asked and I shook my head. ''I do not have a date or clothes to wear. Not to mention I have gotten more busy lately so I will just celebrate it with my caretakers.'' I replied and with a few books under my arm I moved up a ladder. ''Busy huh? Are you enjoying yourself though.'' he said and I nodded. ''Very much so. The job at the Cosplay Café as well. Last week it was dressing up as Japanese Shrine maiden for the girls, Shrine priests for the male waiters. Tomorrow as a sister or brother.'' said with a smile. ''As a sister? What am I supposed to imagine with that.'' Waltz asked. ''Each of the female waitresses dress up as a form of sister. Due to my attitude your friend recommended the responsible one. A colleague of mine however is rather small and petite and will pretend to be the cute younger sister to customers.'' I explained. ''I somehow start regretting suggesting that place.'' Waltz said. ''Don't be. It is fun. Takes my mind of things.'' I answered and went down the stairs again, taking two heavy history books off the cart. ''If that is the case perhaps I should drop by as well.'' Waltz said with a gin. His remark almost made me drop the books. ''What. I can't?'' he teased. ''I haven't seen my friend in a while either. I promise not to tease you to much would I come by tomorrow. Treat me there as how you would usually do if you acting like my big sister is uncomfortable. In the end, I am still your mentor.'' he assured. ''Thanks.'' I said with a smile. ''How are you doing by the way, regarding memories that is. Getting them back yet?'' he asked and I nodded. ''Slowly... but selective. To selective. But I am not complaining. It is better than nothing. Who knew trauma was capable of causing it.'' I sighed. ''Apologies I shouldn't have asked.'' Waltz said and I looked at him. ''It is fine. You are my mentor right? As long as other students do not hear these private talks it is fine. As my mentor you are supposed to make sure I am alright after all.'' I said with a smile. The door to the library opened and I noticed Erin coming in. Ever since I stood up to her on my first day she seemed to try and avoid me. Most of the crowd she hang out with bailed on her as well and I could not help but feel a bit guilty.
