Chapter 15 ~ Sam route 1 ~ His promise

(Skippable if you are not into Sam, can be read as common route as well)

As usual Sam picked me up from school after work but we did not took the same route as usual. Instead I noticed we were going to head into town. ''Where are we headed?'' I asked him.

''Someplace special.'' Sam replied with a grin. Erik has a planned performance tonight, James, Matthew and Damien are stuck in traffic from work because of a very annoying traffic jam caused by an accident so they will be getting food at a fastfood restaurant that is next to the road, I do not feel like cooking and decided it would perhaps be fun to eat out for once. Just the two of us you know.'' he replied.

''I am still in my school clothes, just saying but sure. Sounds like fun.'' I liked spending time with Sam. When he and I were alone he would teach me Tai Chi. Something that really happened to calm my nerves.

''How was school?'' Sam asked me as we were getting closer to the city. ''School was alright. Participated in gymnastics today it was fun. And had a chat with Waltz. I told him I am considering to get a job.'' I replied.

''Really? What would you like to do. You are not... feeling pressured right? About getting a job I mean. You always seem so uncomfortable if we pay things for you.'' Sam noted to which I quickly shook my head. ''No I do not feel pressured at all. I just would like to be as... human as possible.'' I replied to him.

''Well, as long as you know I've got your back.'' Sam grinned. I nodded and thanked him. ''Regarding work Waltz had as suggestion I could help him in the school library. If that was not appealing to me he could introduce me to someone he knows who has what was it again, a cosplay café.''

''A dress-up café? Really?'' he asked and raised an eyebrow. ''I do think Matthew will show up on a weekly basis if you go work there but it is up to you what you would like to do. Regardless I will pick you up, no buts. Especially since it gets dark earlier and earlier got it?''

''No objections Sam really. If you have your mind set on something it is impossible to get you off it anyway.''

''I will take that as a compliment.'' Sam said with a smirk and he parked his car in the parking lot of a two story building. As we entered the building I could not help but grab Sam's arm. The scents were lovely

''Not to worry doofus. It is just dinner and I picked a place which is not to busy on mondays so it should be fine.'' he said and ruffled my hair which made me giggle. I loved the feeling and being the person he was he always did it if I needed to relax.

Sam seemed to be in very good spirits. His grin was contagious and it resulted me to feel at ease more. Inside he spoke to a waiter who guided us to a table.

''Have you eaten here more often?'' I asked Sam who nodded. ''A couple of times. The food is good and it has become one of my favourite places. The first time I was there it was to celebrate the conviction of a drug gang. That investigation took over three years. And once my boss rented this place to hold the company new years dinner. I've been here with my brothers a couple of times too. I wanted to be the first to take you here though.'' he grinned.

A waiter came by asking what we wished to drink after handing us the menu card and the card that contained their beverages. Most of the drinks were things I had not yet heard of, but tea was something I was familiar with and ordered tea. Surprisingly Sam told the waiter to make that two and ordered a whiskey also.

''It is pretty quiet I notice. You told me today they would not get many visitors?'' I said and Sam looked up from the menu. ''Oh yea. That is because it is monday. On Fridays and weekends this place is packed. So today is actually a good day to eat here. More people will come a bit later though we are here early.'' he replied calmly. It was strange seeing him like this. He was always the tough guy yet now he seemed so calm. I wonder if this was his attempt on being a responsible adult. ''Anything you recommend?'' I ask. Not knowing most of these type of dishes.
