''I think it's good.'' I said as I turned the final page and handed the rough draft of the book back to Damien who accepted it with a smile. ''You really think so?'' he asked and I nodded. Damien had asked me to read his latest book. Even though he mainly made books for younger children this was more directed to teenagers. The book being about a magic item with divine properties and descendants of two Gods finding it. However the descendant of one God would throw the world into chaos where the other would assure prosperity. The two descendants found each other with luck both not telling about who they truly are. Only deciding to travel together because they 'roughly' had to go to the same place. Not that their journey was easy but certainly it was an exciting one. ''I might need to tweak a bit but I am glad that you like the idea thus far.'' Damien smiled at me warmly and I could not help but smile back. ''Say [___] do you have any plans for the rest of the day?'' Damien asked and I nodded. ''I have homework. A lot of it. Why? Whats up.'' I asked and Damien looked at me slightly worried. ''You are working hard you know? Maybe to hard. School, your job. Make sure you have some time to relax. You have been going to school for a few months now but if you keep it up like this you might get exhausted.'' I looked in his violet eyes and nodded. I have been working hard, true. But so has he. ''Actually I'd like to take you somewhere. The weather is nice for the time of the year and before we know it it will be Winter. It would be good if you went out more.'' he said. ''Out in general or out with you.'' I teased and I noticed his cheeks getting slightly red. ''I'm teasing, Damien. You're right maybe I should relax more.'' I glanced at my desk where a smal pile of books rested and I shook my head. Through the window I could see the sun shine and the vibrant colors of the leaves that decorated the trees. ''Homework can wait. Let's go. What did you have in mind anyway.'' I asked and Damien. ''Well I do not think you've ever been to the Navy Pier before.'' he said and I shook my head. Leylia wanted to take me but just like me she got drowned in homework back then and it never came to us going there anymore. ''If you'd rather go with your friends at school it's fine though.'' Damien said probably responding to me thinking about the time Leylia asked whether we could go there. I however shook my head again. ''Nah. I know she wanted to show me but I like to go together with you. Today is as good as a day as any other. After all, it's weekend and we have not done anything together in quite a while. So let's go.'' I said with a smile. Damien seemed beyond happy hearing my words and after a little drive Damien parked the car.

It was still a five minute walk from where he parked but that was fine. ''Are you getting used to this world?'' Damien asked and I nodded. ''Somewhat. Those tall structures that reach the sky, the large amount of people. Sometimes they are a bit suffocating.'' I admitted. ''But you know, I think I can get used to it. This world changes fast. New things are invented in the blink of an eye and everyone adapts to that. I find this world as silly as it may sound, peaceful. At the least compared to the one I left behind.'' I smiled at Damien. We reached the entrance of the Navy Pier and I looked around. The weather was good so I was not surprised seeing the amount of people. My gaze went to Damien and before I could ask about if he was alright with this amount of people he simply smiled. ''I'll be fine don't worry about it. I can not stop the mindreading yet at all but it is not as loud or vivid as in the past. It helps as well when I have someone to focus on. I've been to busier places as well and it turned out fine.'' he said and held out his hand. Shall we go?'' He said and I took his hand. ''Under the condition that you tell me when it becomes to much for you.'' I said and Damien agreed.

To be fair, doing something fun in a place like this was a complete new experience for me. Sure Matthew and I have been to the arcade but this felt different. I did not exactly know how to act either, children and adults responded to everything differently. But as the time passed I actually gave in and became more carefree even though it was more Damien who was rubbing off on me. Whatever worries I had and the tasks waiting for me left my mind and I enjoyed this day out. Realising too that I needed it more than I thought. The attractions were fun too and since we did not feel like going when it was late afternoon, Damien texted James that he and I would not be home for dinner tonight. Instead we ate something at the pier. ''Ahh what a day. I'm glad you agreed on coming.'' Damien said and I looked at him with a teasing smile on my face. ''How could I possibly refuse you.'' I said. ''Well to be fair after you gave me energy and I went a bit to far I thought things would become well. Awkward between us.'' Damien admitted and fidgeted with the straw of his drink. ''Like I said. It was fine. You needed it. Make sure to tell me when you need it again though.'' I said and Damien nodded. ''I do not use a lot of energy in the Human world. Only what I use passively. But if I feel like I need it again I will tell you.'' he said and finished his drink. I finished my food as well and I noticed that it was dark. ''How have your memories been coming along.'' Damien asked and I looked down for a moment. ''Not much has changed. I noticed that when I am in similar situations a lost memory comes back to me but... only then. Maybe it is a good thing.'' I said with a smile. ''How can it be a good thing.'' Damien asked. ''I'm afraid of what I am. In the beginning I woke up screaming which was probably caused by suppressed memories. I never remembered what I dreamt about when I woke up and it does not happen anymore but my final years in the Abyssal Plains... I am afraid that they changed me a lot. I know I am running away from what I've been through but there is that little voice in the back of my head telling me that from the moment I will know, I will not be the same. As long as I remember my moments with you and your brothers I'll be fine.'' I said. I clutched my chest briefly feeling a physical sting in there before looking at Damien with a grin. ''Enough gloom. I'm fine, Damien. Truly.'' my smile and tone seemed to be something he believed probably because I myself did so too. ''Got energy for one more thing?'' Damien asked and I nodded. ''Sure.'' I said as I got on my feet. Damien offered his hand to me and I noticed something by the way he looked at me. As if he was a puppy begging for a treat. I took his hand and allowed myself to be guided to what he told me was the ferris wheel. We sat down in the cabin and the sensation of going up was a bit weird. I got used to it soon enough and quickly Damien and I got rewarded with a view of the city at night with many lights burning. ''It's so pretty...'' I gasped. I never saw a view anything like this. Even not from the roof of the mansion. From there I could see the lights as well but from there they seemed very far away. Out of reach like a vast sea of stars. Hovering so high made me feel as if I was surrounded by them. A feeling that increased even when I heard some strange noises accompanied by gentle flashes of light. I got on my feet carefully to get a better look.

''What is that.'' I asked Damien who looked at me. ''Those are fireworks. I am not entirely sure how they work however but I have always find them beautiful.'' Damien smiled at me in a manner I was not familiar with but somehow it gave me a very warm feeling. I had not exactly counted on the Ferris Wheel suddenly stopping though and I lost my balance. Damien quickly caught me in his arms and pulled me towards him. ''You alright?'' he asked with a giggle. ''That usually does not happen.'' he said and I looked at him. I felt at ease though. It felt familiar and safe. ''It's fine. Now we get to enjoy this longer right?'' I asked. We were not at the highest point but we did not care. I sat down next to Damien and together we enjoyed the fireworks. After ten minutes or so the wheel started to turn again. The whole time though we stayed as we were watching the fireworks. ''Thank you Damien. For today. I had fun.'' I said and Damien smiled. ''You're welcome. I am glad to see and hear you enjoyed yourself.'' he said and I felt his hands brushing against mine. A silence fell between us but not an awkward one. ''I wonder if this is what a date is like.'' I said out of the blue. ''A.. d-date?'' Damien asked. ''You tell me. You're the one who asked me out.'' I teased and I saw his cheeks become a gentle red. ''I've not been in the human world that long. But Leylia explained it to me. It was confusing. But she said that family can date like two sisters for example on a simple day or night out. Friends can date and lovers can date. Or a friend who is getting romantic interests in someone. Maybe I should ask her again about this.'' I said and sighed. ''Would you... like to call this a date?'' Damien asked. His question despite for whatever reason made me blush and also made me look at him. ''I... I think so.'' I admitted. Although in my mind I wondered what kind of date this then would be. Friends perhaps? Somehow though it felt as if my heart was a bit torn thinking that. Not in a bad way but I just did not exactly know what to call this. ''Come we will need to get off.'' Damien said and got on his feet offering his hand to me again which I gladly took. We left the Ferris Wheel and I noticed that there were a lot less people. I wonder how late it was. With the sun down however it was also a lot chillier. I went to one of the railings however and watched the starry sky. ''This world... it's beautiful.'' I said and looked Damien who was watching me. ''It is. Come. Let's go home.'' he said and I nodded.

At home we had another cup of tea before I headed to my room. I worked on some of my homework finding myself humming happily before getting my phone and opening one of the photos I made of today. I was not the type for selfies but I could not resist. Damien's surprised and happy face not far from mine. ''A date huh...'' I thought to myself and sighed closing my books and took a shower before sleeping.
