" My husband came as a gardener to the family I lived with, when I had spent almost five years with them already. My life was good, quite good then. But I never knew, when his eyes fell on me and his heart developed longings... " , Sonara made a sarcastic noise.

" He held my hand forcibly one day in the gardens when I was nineteen. I, who had never experienced such duress but had seen closely, panicked extremely and escaped pushing him. The incident had a deep impact on me. I never came out to the gardens when he was outside.

And then happened the dreadful ..

I was kept home for just one night, because my uncle and aunty had to attend a wedding in the outskirts. I was shivering within, but had no choice. They left in the evening, and I fastened every door and window securely..

Locking myself in a room, I just prayed to Allah that I somehow pass the night, unharmed....... "

More than anyone on earth, Jai stiffened.

" But who knew, no barrier could stop a hynae who had been long targeting its prey.

Sonara stopped.

The baby stirred, and released a wail,
breaking Jai out of the absorption as well.
Before Sonara reached her, unknowingly, Jai's hand patted the baby back to sleep.

Changing the baby's position a bit, Sonara wiped off the sweat bids from her forehead.

And Jai felt as if the room was a furnace.

Sonara looked at him, and smiled sadly.

" I know it's difficult for you to sit stuck in a stranger's hut and listen to dark stories of human life. Go and wash your face from the bathroom, if you wish. Though, you will find it dingy... "

Jai didn't move.

" And how did that animal become your husband? " , he could feel something caught in his throat.

Disgust. That was it.

Sonara slowly walked to the window, opening it again. And stood before it.

" Why do you insist on knowing? Why do you push me back to the past mercilessly, sir? "

Silence, on both sides. Once again.

" You are innocent, a very black and white person by face and by mind as well. Your eyes show that. That's how I can describe to you my most dreaded experience without a hiccup...

Jai was startled at the command his voice showed.
