part twenty one

Sonara woke up at four in the morning, boiled some milk she had bought last night for Humaira, and cut few pieces of papaya for herself. Humaira was fast asleep.

Sonara knew it was a big day for her. Till date she had worked in factories, that didn't need much of any customer dealing expertise. But this job was very different. Most importantly, Jai was involved in it. Somehow, his prestige was wound to her performing well at his friend's place. She believed.

Sonara gulped in the pieces of papaya as Sehri, and then sat for the Fajr prayer for Ramadan.

"Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan. "

Then she prayed,

" Ya Allah! Thank you for everything you are doing to me in recent times. Just look into the fact, that I don't end up doing harm to the ones who are taking up pain for me without any benefit on their parts. "

Jai's innocent face flashed before her eyes.
Who said, people turned selfish these days?
Her lips curled into a smile even while praying.

Sonara finished her prayer and rolled the mat. Som was a good human too, he had realised her needs, and had said that she would be advanced one-forth of her salary on the first day, to buy needs of the month. The salary now was five thousand, but could increase upto eight owing to her standards. She realised, the confectionery was large.

The phone began ringing, startling her.
Who, at this early hour?? 

Jai! 

Sonara hurriedly picked up the call. Somehow, she needed his good wishes, she felt strongly.

" Hello, Jai! "

" Good morning lioness! Ready for the day? I knew you would be up by now for Ramadan. "

Sonara smiled at the pet name she was called at times by this human.

" You are right. But I'm no lioness. A fragile human, only. "

" That I know. Remember the venture at the flying club that day, and how brave you were with that? "

Sonara blushed hard. She truly behaved so idiotic that day.

" I promise I won't repeat those, the next time I visit. And that'll be soon. " , she said.

Jai giggled and then said,
" I'll visit the shop around twelve. Som won't be available before that, he's got an important assignment to do. But Shergil uncle will be present to introduce you to your job. Som and I will together turn up by twelve. "

Sonara nodded silently.

" One more thing. Take Humaira along. I've told Shergil uncle already. And dress her up properly, she might catch cold in the air conditioning. "

Sonara felt an unusual warmth grab her heart, at these few words.

Jai got down the stairs. It was four thirty in the morning, and everyone was supposed to be fast asleep. But surprisingly, light beamed from Maya's cubicle.

Jai slowly made way to the cubicle, and pushed the door slightly.

Maya leaned on the sofa with earplugs tucked, while she stared outside the window.

She sensed the door being opened, and immediately pulled out the plugs.

" Jai? "

Jai walked in and settled before her.
" I didn't know you're such an early riser. "

" Oh not at all. I was working on a deal and got late, so didn't retire to the bedroom. But since when did you start rising early? " , Maya raised her brows.
