A few hours earlier to when Sonara woke up :

Jai stood at the window. The rains were not particularly his favourite, neither did he dislike them.

Sonara's unconscious face flashed through his mind, time and again.

Was he too rude?
Was he too inhuman?

In a tug of war with his sister, why was he hurting someone else?

Fine, if he didn't wish to keep her in the mansion. Why did he begin to act otherwise? He could have stuck to that. Instead, he sounded sarcastic, shrewd, cunning, ironical.

He spoke words not from the heart, instead, only to look good before servants, neighbors, and the whole damned world.

And that did hurt Sonara, a woman with distinct emotional senses, to an extent that she lost consciousness.

Added to these, Maya's words sounded curious and weird too. What equation was she trying to set up between him and......

Jai could not think anything else.
Only, how Sonara Parvez got tangled to his life, out of nowhere.
How a single woman, so unlike his own world, became a desperate part of his life. Someone, he should have hated according to the psychology he held, someone, he should have only pitied according to the status he belonged to.
However, Jai felt, Sonara held much bigger a place in his life than these.

Unnecessarily maybe. But she did. And, how truly he wanted to shoo her off the place she occupied. But everytime, something occured. Either his sister happened, or his own damned brain.

He should never have stopped Sonara today when Maya too had almost given up. He should never have cared of 'what people would think. '

Sonara Parvez could never be so important to him. Never, ever....

Sounds of footsteps behind.

Jai had kept the door half closed. He looked back.

Maya walked in, and sat on the bin bag. She looked quite worn out all of a sudden.

Jai sighed. Just a few days back he believed he was slowly able to a build a good sibling bond. Alas, Maya maybe never wanted to crack the stone shell she was in.

Jai said nothing to her arrival, and looked back at the rains.

" Do you think whatever you did with Zoya that day at the office was commendable, Jai? " , Maya spoke in a deep voice after sometime.

Commendable? No maybe, not in the eyes of many. Many, who claimed themselves to be highly forgiving secularists.

But that didn't affect his choice of supporting his traumatised father. Because he loved him, respected him much. More than any entity called secularism.

Jai chose to remain silent, and waited as to how Maya was going to connect Zoya and Sonara.

" I know you won't answer, because you know it's not. And yet you proudly flaunt your cheap mindset regarding this one thing, as does dad. Even more than him, I believed that day. " , Maya got up. Jai still remained silent though his insides were already burning.

She came and stood beside him.

" We lost the most able lawyer we could ever have, just because of you. Exactly what I was afraid of. You are a frighteningly influenced and a sensitive individual. Not a business person. "

" I know. That was a huge problem. You had single-handedly grown Rangruchi all these while. Why would you suddenly like someone else speaking on matters? " , Jai hissed suddenly.
