Part 4: Naa hai yeh paana, naa khona bhi hai. (I don't want this, I don't want to lose this either.)

Chapter 36: Work complications.

Akshara

The next morning, I slipped into my shower, letting the warm trickle of water ease my body of it's knots. There is just something amazing about standing under a blazing hot jet of water on a freezing cold winter day, it feels like your way of telling mother nature to suck it. Also, the shower is the only place where you can let your thoughts consume you completely, and have time to think things through. True to the aforementioned statement, I was thinking things through. First, the thing with my parents. I had to stop avoiding them. They were my parents after all. And I was their daughter. (duh.)

Jai was getting along better with them, as compared to me. He had his own troubles to consume his thoughts. He had been applying to a lot of universities, both local and abroad. Personally, I knew that he'd rather go to a local university than one abroad. Me, however? The first chance I got to run out of my country, I would take it. Not that I hated my country or something like that, but I'd always wanted to study abroad, in new places...meeting new people.

My parents already knew that my little experiment with science was bound to end as my college ended. I was going ahead with music as my field of study, and they had no problem with that. Music was my passion, my escape. And they knew that. In that matter, I was, indeed, blessed with marvelous parents. I had applied to a few universities too, my preferred one being Berkeley University, California. I'm going to call it BuiC for short. BuiC had a wonderful music program, and what's more they even had an awesome songwriting course too! If I got into any of those universities, I was going to pack up my bags and leave, without any hesitation.

That brought me to my next area of concern, Raghav. I mean, we were blissfully happy in our relationship, dare I say in love.  But it was bound to happen soon enough, that I would leave to go study abroad, and he'd not come along. He had his own career, business and job to take care of. He had his own music and lyrics to worry about. I didn't want to force him to go along with me, like some clingy girlfriend who couldn't survive without her guy. Maybe we could try a hand at the long distance thing, we could Skype, chat and text. Oh who was I kidding? Long distance?! Seriously Akshara?! It would be better for us to break things off, while I was gone...and if we still felt the same when I came back, then there'd be no problem in picking up where we left off.

With the same thoughts swimming around in my head, I stepped out of the warm comforts of my bathroom, and wrapped a towel around myself, shivering due to the cold. I quickly put on some sweatpants, a t-shirt and a hoodie. Warmth enveloped me again, and I sighed in relief. My phone rang, the beats of 'Titanium' pulsing out loudly. I flipped it out to see that it was Ryan. I answered the call. "Hey Ray." I said. "Hey, you free today?" he asked, and I affirmed that I was.

"Great! I'll pick you up in ten minutes!"

"To go where?" I asked, confused. "You were supposed to tutor me remember?" he reminded me, and I slapped my forehead in annoyance. Of course I forgot that! "Why don't you come over with your books? My mother will make us some hot chocolate!" I sang the last part out, bribing him. He sighed in defeat, and I knew that I'd won. "Great! See you in ten minutes!" I said, and I flipped my phone shut. Okay, for now, I had to put BuiC and Raghav and all other things out of my head. Studying, here I come!
