Bonus 1. What if Alisha didn't exist?

This bonus chapter is based on my first fact in the previous bonus chapter, that Akshara would've ended up in love with Akshay, if he didn't go out with Alisha. The question is, would he be in love with her too? Or would she have to turn to someone else?

Akshara's POV
'Akshy.' Akshay's deep voice never failed to send shivers down my spine. I looked up to find his brown eyes looking at me. I smiled, feeling butterflies erupt in my stomach.

'Akshay.' God I hope my voice didn't sound as breathless as I heard it.

Akshay and I have been best friends, since practically forever. We've been dating each other, just for the heck of it, since last year. The deal was, that if any one of us found someone who we had a potential love interest in, then we would break up.

Since that didn't happen, suffice to say we fell in love.

Oops, I fell in love with him.

But I harbour the hope that he feels the same way about me.

'Hey.' Akshay grabbed me in a tight hug and I felt my insides erupt in numerous butterflies again.

'Woah. What's up?' I asked, cause I was the one who was usually very touchy and all that.

'Nothing much. Can't I hug my best friend for no reason whatsoever?' he teased, though my happy mood vanished a bit at the best friend part.

He always addressed me as his best friend. Not his girlfriend. And that hurt a lot, as I always addressed him as my soulmate and my boyfriend.

Not fair.

'Of course you can!' I giggled a bit and stepped back from the hug. 'Anyway, what do you think I should wear for tonight's date? I narrowed it down to my bugs bunny tee and denim jeans, and a plain red cotton dress with flats. What do you think?' I asked.

Akshay looked a bit guilty, and then shifted his weight from one foot to another.

'Um.' he started, and my stomach sank. 'What?' I asked, trying to keep my tone light. 'I have got a date tonight.' He admitted. I laughed, punching his shoulder in a friendly gesture.

'Of course you have! It's with me silly!' I said, laughing.

Only, he didn't laugh along with me.

'Akshy. I've got a date. With someone else.' He said. And just like that, all my happiness evaporated.

'Someone else?' I echoed.

His beautiful black-brown eyes widened in worry.

'This doesn't mean I'm breaking up with you! You know what we agreed on right...that if we found love interests-'

'Yes I remember. You don't need to rub it in my face all the time Akshay.'

'Akshara. Come on. You didn't honestly think we were gonna end up married or something did you?' he asked.

I felt like punching him.

'Of course not.' Lies. All of it lies.

'You know what Akshay, you go ahead with that date. Let me know how it goes.' I put on a brave face and smiled at him.

Hey he was my best friend. He deserved happiness and love. Didn't matter if someone else gave it to him. Didn't matter if I was still in love with him. None of that mattered.

'You're sure?' He asked, bending down to look me in the eye.

'Yes.' Lies again.
