CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
I could hear the both of them walking towards the dining room and Tony was still looking confused. I kinda wanted to laugh because the faces that Tony were making- had me wanting to giggle but....he'll see what's going on in a second.
Once Cai and Demetrius walked into the dining room- I saw that they were both holding hands and smiling at each other.
Oh shit.
"Hello...Mrs. Grant....Mr. Grant." He said in a calm and deep voice as he smiled at the both of us.
"Who in the hell are you? Why are you holding my daughter's hand?!" Tony asked him as he rushed to stand up.
"Tony...this is whom Cai has been talking to for a few." I told Tony.
"Oouuu. She's gonna get it." Ciyle said as he laughed and looked at Cai and Demetrius. Cai shook her head at Ciyle and then rolled her eyes.
"Dad, this is Demetrius. We have art class together and I wanted him to come to dinner so that he could meet my family." Cai told Tony as they continued to stand there hand in hand.
Demetrius stopped holding hands with Cai and walked over towards Tony. He then held his right hand out for Tony to shake it.
"Nice to meet you, sir. Must I say- you look a lot like Tony Grant whom has been in a few of Tyler Perry plays and additionally a few apart." Demetrius said as he waited for Tony to shake his hand.
Tony looked Demetrius up and down. He looked at his hand and made a disgusted face.
"I AM Tony Grant." Tony said to him.
"I....Uhmmm, wow. I didn't know-..well, Cai says otherwise at school." Demetrius said as his hand was still out for Tony to shake.
Finally Tony shook his hand and looked into Demetrius' eyes.
"Son, you better look me in my eyes. Didn't you father tell you the importance of it? Especially when you're talking to the Father of someone else's daughter. At least you have a firm grip on my hand." Tony told Demetrius as he let go of his hand.
"My-...my apologies sir. Just nervous. I've never met my girlfriends parents before." He said to Tony.
"You're girlfriends-....hell no!" Tony said as he started to get upset.
"I mean....like, I-...we're just talking, sir. That's all. Bad word choice." Demetrius said as he looked back at Cai.
"Uhmmm hmm. You can sit." Tony said as he then sat down.
Looking at Demetrius, he was already sweating and acting nervous. It was somewhat hilarious...
Demetrius pulled Cai's chair out so that she could sit and then he himself sat next to her.
It was silent. Ciyle started to laugh silently and looked at how Tony was studying Demetrius' every move.
"How are your grades looking?" Tony asked him.
"Oh, well- I have all A's. My parents are very strict when it comes to my grades. I haven't had a B since the 6th grade." Demetrius told Tony. Demetrius started to put some food on his plate.
"Have you ever smoked? Drank?" Tony asked.
"No, sir. My parents are highly against it. Nor do my parents drink or smoke- no desire. They've installed in me to do better and make wiser choices than the ones my peers make." Demetrius said as he nodded his head.
"Hmm. Well, let me ask this question. Are you sexually active? Are you planning on being sexually active with our daughter? Because if so- I can tell you now that that will NEV-..." Tony said but Demetrius cut him off.
"No, sir! No! Not at all. I feel as if- waiting to have sex after marriage is the best way to go. Sex has too many feelings attached to it and I would never want to break into something like that unless it's with my wife in the near future. I would never touch Cai in an inappropriate way nor would I disrespect your daughter, sir. My parents have brought me up the correct way and that's something that I want you to understand. I'm probably the only boy in the entire school that's still a virgin and actually proud of it. Most young men are ashamed but not me, sir. Purity has power." Demetrius said in a proud voice.
"Do you go to church?" Tony asked.
"Every Wednesday and Sunday." He told him.
My mouth almost dropped. I was impressed. Now, is Tony impressed? I hope so because I like this young man.
"Well, when I was your age- I was nothing close to how you are. I woul-..." Tony said but I stopped him.
"Tony. Very unnecessary." I said as I sighed. Tony laughed a little.
"I like you." Tony said as he raised his glass towards Demetrius. "I'll still keep my eyes on you though. I'll be damned sure of that." Tony added.
"Does that mean that we can date now?" Cai asked in an excited voice as she looked at Tony and I back and forth.
"Hell no, baby girl. Hell no." Tony said as he smiled at Cai.
"But Ma-..." Cai said but I cut her off.
"Too soon, baby. Just-...get to know each other more. Your Daddy will come around." I told her.
"No the hell he won't. That's my first and only baby girl. You'll be lucky if I even let you date at the age of 37." Tony said as he stood up with his plate.
"37?" Cai said in a confused voice.
—————-
"I wish that you would have told me that our daughter was talking to some little boy, Cheryl. Since when do you keep information like this away from me?" Tony asked me as him and I started to clean up the kitchen together. Everyone was gone- Cai went upstairs to take her shower and Ciyle went to doing his usual- playing his game. Tony was happy that the young man was gone....
"She didn't want you to know just yet- that's why. Either way, I wouldn't let our child do something that has neither of our approval." I told Tony as I started to put the clean dishes away.
"You know that I don't like to be surprised like that. I knew nothing about it!" Tony told me as he watched me put the dishes away and started to get frustrated.
"Maybe you would know something about it, babe- if you payed attention to her more often. All it is is you and Ciyle in that room with instruments and stuff." I told him in a calm voice. I didn't want to argue.
"Well, it's not my fault that she has more interest in Art. Ciyle actually likes music....kinda. However, she locks herself in her room all day and the only time she comes out is to eat dinner with us."
"Tony, you can still put in more effort."
Tony just nodded his head and waved off the conversation.
At least our child is interested in a boy whom actually has his head on right.
