CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
"So, I can start by typing over your files that relates to the cases. I'm aware that since I didn't go to college for this particular field that I can't fully open up the details. However, I can replace, open and organize anything that you would consider for me to do. Also do-..." I said as I stood in front of Mr. Lewis' desk to explain my eligibility but he cut me off.
"What happened yesterday night?" He asked me as he sat back in his chair and put his hand on his chin.
"Uh, what do you mean, sir? At the party?" I asked him as I looked at him with a confused facial expression.
"Yes, almost everyone saw you run out of that place. You seemed pretty upset..." he said as he sat up straight.
I cleared my throat and looked down at the papers that were present in my hands.
"Yeah, I was upset." I said as I looked up at him.
"Is...everything okay? You know...with you and your husband." He asked as he stood up. My eyes followed him.
"Oh, yes sir. We are....absolutely fine." I said as I smiled at him.
"That's good. Anyways, back to what you were saying. You don't have to have a degree in that field. As long as you know how to memorize, type and ask people questions- you're good." He said as he smiled at me.
"Gotcha. I'll go and get to work." I said as I turned around and started walking towards his office door.
"Cheryl..." He said. I stopped walking and turned around to face him.
"Yes sir?"
"Stop doubting yourself. You're smart and I can see that you're nervous that you're gonna mess up. You're not going to..." Mr. Lewis said as he looked at me. I nodded my head at him.
"Continue and have a great day. I'll be here if you need anything....I mean that." He added. I opened the door, looked back at him and flashed him a small smile.
AT LUNCH: A RESTAURANT WITH TONY
"No, baby. I'm serious- he's awkward." I told Tony as I took a bite of my chicken pasta.
"Why do you think that he's awkward?" Tony asked me as he looked up from his food.
"Do you see the way he looks at me? Like he wants to freaking devour me or some shit like that." I said as I made a disgusted face. "Then, He's always looking me up and down and smiling that...awkward smile at me. I just got this job, I don't wanna quit over his awkward ass." I said as I sighed.
"Just ignore the looks and go do your job. Stay away from him as much as possible and maybe he won't try anything. If he does- simple...I'll beat his ass." Tony said as he shrugged his shoulders and then took a sip of his water.
I shrugged my shoulders as well.
"Alright." I said as I continued eating."How long of a lunch break did he give you?" Tony asked as he looked at me.
"One hour. Speaking of- I've gotta get going soon." I said as I checked my phone for the time.
"So, whose gonna get the kids?" Tony asked me as he took some money out to pay for our lunch.
"I guess that I can. I mean, I'll be in that area by that time anyways. I just hope that I get off in time. If not, I'll let you know." I told him.
