Him and His Stupid Rules

"Let's go on a walk" shawn suggests to his friends and girl friend and they all nod and say yes putting on their shoes and coats and going outside.

Y/n feels weird, her relationship with Shawn is in completely hidden and of course she wants to be free with Shawn but him and his stupid rules stop them. Of course Shawn loves her but he can't risk anything and wants to protect her as he said himself.

They all walk outside and decide to go to a local cafe and Shawn and y/n are walking at the back of the group making small talk. "Hey I like your shirt" she says and tugs on his sleeve and links their hands. Shawn quickly removes their hands and looks around cautiously. "Thank you and be careful yeah I told you this be-"
She quickly cuts of Shawn "yeah yeah I know" she huffs and speed walks forward towards Andrew and starts talking to him but in the back of her mind she can't help but feel sad.

The group walk in to a cafe and get seated in a booth and y/n goes to sit next to Shawn but he looks up at her almost to say 'don't sit there', she turns around and sits in between Josiah and Brian on the other side of the booth and Shawn is opposite her.

They all order and begin chatting amongst themselves and y/n engages in a conversation with Brian and Josiah who are fighting over pancakes and waffles. She laughs and tilts her head back and Shawn watches in amazement, seeing the prettiest girl but quickly looks away.

"Guys I'm sorry but waffles are the best" she says and high fives Brian, Brian then puts his arm around her and messes up her hair "see someone agrees with me" he says and Josiah pouts and leaves it alone.

"Your hair smells good" Brian says making y/n laugh and she flicks it in his face sassily "I know" she says and giggles. She notices Shawn looking towards her and he looks upset so she gently kicks him under the table and furrows her eyebrows towards him but he huffs and quickly looks away from her and Brian.

Once they all finish they leave and begin walking back, y/n slows down to walk closer to Shawn "Hey is everything okay" she asks gently "yeah of course it is" he says smiling down at her and she feels okay.
"Ugh I'm so tired Shawn can I have a piggy back?" She asks hopefully and Shawn stops dead in his tracks.

"No I mean I want to but then everyone will know and I can't have that" he says and continues walking and she feels on the edge "Okay then I just asked don't go all psycho on me" she says and looks straight forward.

"Come on don't be like this you know what I mean" he says almost whispering so the rest of the group doesn't hear and she just nods.

After 2mins y/n begins running up to Brian's back and she jumps on scaring him but he quickly grabs her legs "thanks for the ride" she giggles and all the boys laugh but not a word from Shawn.

"Oh you know it's fine I don't mind carrying you" Brian says sarcastically and she pats his head and rests her head on his shoulder.

They all make it back to Shawn's place and by now y/n has fallen asleep on Brian's back. Shawn can't help but feel angry but also upset, he can't hold his girl but his friends can.

"Hey wake up y/n" Brian shakes a little but y/n still doesn't move. "Erm I'll just put her in the guest room" Shawn says and Brian lets her fall into Shawn's arms and she holds on to him tightly slightly moving.

Shawn lays her down and takes her shoes off and puts the blanket over her. "Ugh Shawn where are you going?" She says sleepily leaning up with her elbows. "I'll just leave you to sleep" he says and is about to walk out.
"Shawn come here please, let's talk" she says with rasp and Shawn cracks under her voice and turns back and sits beside her.

"What's wrong love?" She questions.

"I want to hold you"

"Then hold me" she says, Shawn wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her in.

"Do you like Brian?" He says in a small voice.

"Of course as a friend but not anything else"

"Why were you flirting then?"

"We weren't Shawn"

"Yes you were" he says and she moves away from his grip.

"I really wasn't, he was actually talking to me unlike you cause you think even if we breath the same air something will happen" she speaks quickly and rolls her eyes.

"No I just want to protect-"

"No just stop Shawn I don't want to do this right now" she says and lays back down.

"We are talking about this, right now, I don't think you understand my situation y/n" he says in a stern voice.

"Shawn I don't get it, you won't talk, touch or even associate with me in public and when I talk to other people you get defensive but people don't know we are together and I can't say anything because you told me not to then you want to be protective and call me yours but you can't do that in front of everyone" she says and tears roll down her face and Shawn quickly wipes her face with his thumb.

"Angel don't cry, I'm so so selfish for doing this to you and I'm sorry I just wanted to keep you safe but I didn't know I was hurting you my love" he says and kisses her cheeks and their foreheads touch and she sniffles.

"Please Shawn I'm sick of these rules, just let me be free or love me like you mean it cause I'm hurting, I don't like being like this, like us" she whispers and he nods.

"Just tell me what to do, I'll do it just stay with me please, I need you" He says and rubs her back.

"Tell the world I'm yours and you're mine, I don't want to be a secret not anymore"

"Consider it done my love just please stop crying or I'll start crying" he chuckles softly and they meet for a quick kiss and she smiles brightly and it reflects on Shawn.
