Steven and I walk along the sandy beach in this eighty plus degree weather and I can't help but complain some. "Steven! How can you stand this heat! Its killing me, but its not!" "Well I'm used to it because I've lived here all my life... Plus, you're wearing all black. Black draws in heat." He kicks up some sand with his flip flop, and I can't help but cringe a little, "Isn't that hot?" "It is, but like I said, I'm used to it."
I reach out my hand a little bit outside the shade of the umbrella, and I yank my hand back. "Ow!" I hiss as my fingertips ignite with fire. I wave my hand back and forth really fast to put it out. "Ugh... Why do I have to be allergic to the Sun?! Ugh! If it wasn't for my monster of a dad, I could've been normal."
Steven grabs onto my arm, "Yeah y/n, but if it wasn't for your dad, you wouldn't be here. You wouldn't of met me, and you wouldn't of met Garnet." I ruffle his hair, "You always look at the positive things in life don't you?" "Yep, and you should start too, it'll make you feel better, instead of moping around like some sort of..." I raise a brow and give a little smile, "Vampire?" He blushes, "I was going to say something else, but yeah, I guess you can say that." I chuckle.
We continue to walk and talk until we arrive at someone's garage. "Steven, who's garage is this?" "Oh this is Sourcream's house." "Ah okay." We walk up to the front door and Steven knocks, and some lady, I assume its Sourcream's mom answers the door. "Hi Vidalia! Is Sourcream home?" "Oh hey, Steven. Sorry he's not home, he's out with Buck and Jenny. Is there anything you need?" I just stand there and zone them out, until Steven mentions me.
"This is y/n and he/she wants to audition for Sourcream's band." My eyes go wide, "Oh no, Steven just wants me to meet them that's it." I say rubbing the back of my neck. "Oh okay, but can I ask you a question?" I gulp, but nod. She points to the umbrella, "What's up with the umbrella?" I let out a nervous laugh, "Oh, I have a weird allergy, I'm allergic to the Sun." "Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of asked such a personal question." "Its fine, you didn't know. It was nice talking to you." She waves to us as we leave, "So, where to now?" He stops and points in a random direction, "To Fish Stew Pizza!" He grabs my wrist and drags me to wherever we're going.
Steven drags me into some pizza restaurant that only sells pizza and fish. "Hey Kiki, is Jenny around?" A mixed young girl around fifteen it looks like answers, "Yeah Steven she's upstairs with Buck and Sourcream. Why?" "I was going to introduce y/n to the three of them. By the way Kiki this is y/n, y/n this is Kiki." I nod at her, "Hello." She responds with a shy hello.
"Jenny! You have company!" Kiki yells towards a staircase. We hear footsteps coming down the stairwell, "More? I think I might need a bigger room." Jenny I assume is her older sister, she looks about she's my age. "Oh hey Steven, who's your friend?" "Hey Jenny, this is y/n and he/she would like to audition to sing in y'alls' band."
I hit him lightly, "Steven..." I say with gritted teeth. "Alright, cool. Let's go up to my room and we'll see what you got." She leads us up the narrow stairwell and into her bedroom. A brown headed boy with sunglasses on is sitting on her bed, while a pale looking fella with blonde hair is sitting in her hanging chair. "Buck, Sourcream this is y/n and he/she wants to audition for our band." Jenny announces me.
"Cool." The pale boy, I assume is Sourcream says, while Buck, just nods. "So do you play an instrument y/n?" Jenny asks sitting next to Buck, "Well, my father made me learn how to play all the instruments because he's a fan of classical music, so yeah I can play a few." I rub my neck. "I wish my dad cared about my musical talent like your's does." Buck responds and Jenny just pats his shoulder.
"Y/n, I didn't know you play. We should practice together sometime. I have a spare ukulele at the temple." There's a lot of things that people, even Garnet don't know about me. "Yeah, that sounds fun." I look around the room and spot a red electric guitar, "Can I borrow this?" "Yeah of course." I put the strap around my neck and stum a few chords, "What should I play?" They all think about something until Sourcream speaks up, "Play a rock song. I bet I can use some of the tunes from it to make a new song." I twitch my neck, "Alright."
(If you're a male reader just imagine a male singing it.)After I get done, I look around and see everyone's jaws dropped. Oh crap, they didn't like it. They must think I was terrible. I hang my head down in shame, but it pops back up by loud applauses and whistles. Steven runs over and hugs me, "Y/n! You were amazing! Why didn't you want to show us?!" I bend down to his height and whisper in his ear, "Steven, when I was growing up with my father, he taught me that humans would hurt us for being ourselves. I'm was afraid that if I was bad, that they would hurt me." He tightens his hug, "Y/n, no one is going to hurt you. If anybody even thinks of hurting you, I would protect you... And Garnet would probably kill them." I laugh at the thought.
"Thanks Steven." I release him and he pats my back. The other three is huddled in a group when we break apart. I can hear them mumble and it sounds like they have excitement in their cool voices. They break apart, "Y/n, we would be honored if you joined our band." I'm shocked. What's Garnet going to think? She don't even know I can play, might as well sing.
"Do it y/n." I here Steven yell whisper. What the heck, I need something to do when Garnet isn't home. "Okay, I'm in." Even they celebrate coolly. Everyone one is cheering and Sourcream starts to wave the sleeves off of his tear apart pants in the air and we cheer him on. Yeah, I think I'm going to like being in this band.
