Story 13

                      ~Y/n's POV~
            I watch the snow fall from the train's window. My right temple is pressed up against the cold glass, which is Heaven for my hot body. I have a slight fever from the silver coursing in my veins and I let out a little cough and sniffle. Ugh... I feel like crap. Ruth insisted on riding home with me and leave late Christmas Eve, but I told her not to because she has a pregnant wife and a two year old at home and I didn't want her to miss Christmas with them. It was nice of her to offer, but I would feel bad if I took it. Sigh.
          "Empire City!" The gray headed conductor announces and I put on my service hat and get up. Ruth made me get a crutch. At first I was too stubborn to use it, but when she threatened to call Garnet from my phone, I complied. I limp to the seventy give or take year old man and find my bearings at the train's door. "Thank you for your service young man/lady." He offers a hand and I shake it, "You're welcome. Merry Christmas." "Merry Christmas to you too, sir/ma'am." We release our grip and the train slows to a stop. "Do you need help sir/ma'am?" I smile a little, "No thank you." The door opens and I get off the train.
         I make my way through the small crowd. Since its nine p.m. there isn't a lot of people here and it doesn't take long to spot Greg holding a white sign that says my name. I smile a little and he smiles when he sees me, but it slowly turns into a frown when I approach him. "Hey, Mr. Universe." "Hi y/n." We're about a foot away from each other, but we break the distance when we give each other a light, but deep hug.
           He pulls away from me and I see a tear poking from his left eye, so I try to lighten the mood. I look down at myself and give a small smile, "Yeah, I know I look like crap and I feel like it too, but at least I still have some good looks." I let out a slight laugh as I look back up at him. He chuckles uneasily, but with some relief, "Yeah, I still think Garnet will still take ya." He jokes with me and we both let out a small laugh, "Well I hope so."
          Our jokes end and he places a hand on my good shoulder, "But its still good to see you y/n." I smile, "Its good to see you too Greg." I straighten up and pop my back in the process and he drops his hand, "And it feels good to be back." He looks at my crutch then at my bag and facepalms himself, "Oh jeez! Where are my manners?! Let me get your bag!" He takes my bag before I can protest. I give him a small smile and we head towards his van, "Thanks Greg."
                  ~Time Skip~
           After a few hours of riding around Empire and Beach City, getting gifts for everyone, Greg and I finally decide to go home. Its two minutes till midnight and I told Greg to go on in the temple and give Garnet a small gift box addressed from me. Inside the box is a little paper that says 'Look up.' And when she looks up, I'll be standing inside the door. When Greg questioned me in the van if the gems would be up, I about fell over in laughter and he got the hint about when do we sleep. I look down at my phone. It says Midnight. I smile at my phone then adjust my uniform jacket, turn and face the door after I pocket my phone. I take off my hat and hold it against my chest and quietly enter the temple.

         I enter the temple and just in time too, Greg just gave Garnet the box and she's opening it. Steven and the others are sitting on the couch in their PJ's by the Christmas tree and haven't noticed me yet. I gently close the door, not taking my eyes of Garnet. She pulls out the paper, "Look up." She has a confused look until, she does as the paper commands and looks up.
          "Merry Christmas everyone." I say as I straighten my posture. "Y/n!" Steven and the others rush over to me when they spot me and captures me in a deep hug and I groan a little. "Oh my gosh y/n! You're home!" Steven yells with tears in his eyes. I return the hug as much as I can, "Yep, and I'm here to stay." Steven looks up at me with wet starry eyes and a wide smile, but it quickly fades when he sees my crutch and he makes everybody give me some space.
         "What's wrong Steven?" Pearl asks, but when he reaches to touch my crutch, Pearl's eyes follow and she holds a gasp in her mouth. "Y-y/n... What happened?" I look down at the floor with a small frown and he looks up at me. "Is that a piñata stick?" Amethyst asks and I can't help, but chuckle some. I look up at her and give a small smirk, "Yeah, and I'm going to hit you with it." She throws her hand in the air, "Hey, what did I do?!" "You were going to beat me when Ruby and Sapphire tied me up and I had to convince you not too. So, now its my turn." I pretend to come at her and she takes off to the opposite side of the room. I laugh a little, but its cut short when Steven asks me the question again.
          I sigh and I begin to explain what happenef to them. "I was in an accident. The enemies decided to try to get a jump on us during basics, but thanks to my and Ruth's advanced senses, we got a little head's up on when the attack was going to be held, but not where, until it was too late. A few flash grenades and thousands of bullets entered our area out of no where and everything was in chaos. Ruth and I tried to warn the others that we had a bad feeling about our surroundings without giving away what we are, but the others just told us we had paranoia. Anyways, Ruth and I got everyone out of harms way, but Ruth got shot in the left leg and I got shot in the left inner shoulder, my right ribs and my upper right thigh. I would heal more quickly if the bloody enemies didn't use silver bullets. Silver to me and Ruth is like snake's venom to humans. It spreads. After we got everyone out of harms way and we made the enemy retreat, Ruth and I, alongside with some others ended up in the infirmary and after they got the bullets out, they decided that it was too dangerous for Ruth and I to be there because of the allergic reaction from the enemies bullets, so they sent us home and now we're both discharged and we don't have to go back ever again." I give them a weak smile.
          The room falls silent, but it becomes tear filled. I even hear Amethyst sniffle, so I brighten up the mood, "But don't worry guys, I'm here and Ruth's at home with her wife and kids and I brought..." I turn and open the door and grab my green duffle bag and a big black sack and turn around and open the sack. "Presents!" All of their faces light up, except for Garnet's. "And since its technically Christmas," I kneel down with a groan and start handing Steven and Pearl their gifts, "you get to open them now if you want." They both give me a hug and I stand back up with Amethyst and Greg's gift in hand and Pearl and Steven join Amethyst on the couch. "Here Ame." I throw a decent size gift box her way and I hand Greg his small gift box. "Thanks y/n!" Steven, Pearl, and Amethyst yell from across the room and Greg says it normally because he's right beside me, then he goes and sit by Steven.
         Garnet slowly makes her way over to me, but when she makes her way over to me she fazes off her visors and tears are coming down her face. We stand there for a second in silence, then we give each other a deep hug. "Love..." She trails a whisper in my right ear. I squeeze her a little, "I'm here." We pull back and she kisses me deeply. I let a tear roll, not from the pain, but for the longing to be with someone you haven't been with for an eternity it seems.
        She breaks the embrace and rubs her hand on my chest near my bad shoulder. I whince because of the sting and bite my tongue. "You're hurt." I sigh, "Yeah, but at least I didn't break my promise, I'm still here and in one piece." I smirk. She gives me a weak smile and I rest my brow against her's. "I got you three a present, but I'd like y'all to unfuse, so I can give it to y'all separate." She places a hand on my chest, "But we already got our Christmas gift right here." A warm smile takes over my face, "That's supposed to be my line." She let's out a chuckle and kisses me again.
         "Well aren't you going to unfuse?" She hums, "No, because you need rest..." She drops her voice to a whisper and leans to my ear, "And we can't give you your Christmas gift out here." She pulls back and my face heats up and not because of the slight fever. She kisses me again, "And none of us are going to open up our gifts until you get some sleep, isn't that right guys?" I look over to everyone and they haven't opened their gifts, which surprises me." "Right." Everyone says determined, except Amethyst, she groans, "Right." She rolls her eyes, "Now go get some rest." I can't help but smirk a little, "Alright. Let me just grab my bags and-" Garnet cuts me off by grabbing my bags for me. " "We got them love, just head on to our room." "Are you sure love?" She points to the magical door and I kiss her and do as she commands.
         "Thanks for the ride Greg." I thank him with a wave and limp to my room. "No problem y/n, goodnight." "Goodnight everyone." Then they all say goodnight, then I open the door and Garnet and I go in our room.
