Ch.57

I slowly flutter my eyes open. All I know is darkness is around me and my head is killing me. "Man, I feel like I've been through the ringer." I hold my head and attempt to sit up, but pain from whole body drags me back down to the mattress? "Why am I on a mattress?" Then suddenly it hits me, "The fight!"
Despite the agonizing pain throughout my body, I quickly get up. "Ah!" I scream as I try to regain my balance. "When I get my hands on those diamonds, I'm gonna kill them." I say through gritted teeth. When I begin to walk or more like stumble forward, all my bones start to pop. The only thing that should be snapping, crackling, and popping is my Rice Krispies, not my body!
Grunting, I finally make my way to the door, but before I leave my room, I faze off my existing clothes and faze on my favorite shirt, jeans, and boots. Now I'm ready." When I leave my room, I see that Ruby and Sapphire is the only ones here and is sleeping on the couch in each other's arms. I grab onto everything I can and quietly make my way over to them.
Tear marks stain their cheeks and I can't help but wonder why. Did something happen during the fight? Did we lose? But most importantly, did we lose somebody? I have to find out, but before I leave the temple, I put a big blanket over Ruby and Sapphire and kiss their foreheads.
When I make it out of the temple, I realize its still dark and I see Blue's and Yellow's ships destroyed in the ocean. "Did we win?" I ask myself, but then my questions are flown out the window when I see Steven, Pearl, and Amethyst talking to Blue and Yellow on the beach.
I quickly make my way down the steps, step by gruesome step. "I think I broke some ribs." I say holding my side, but I have no time to worry about me, I have to go see what's going on with Steven and the Diamonds. Making my way over to them, I turn myself invisible with my powers and remain quiet, but by the time I get there, Steven, Pearl, and Amethyst starts turning back towards the temple, while the Diamonds go in the opposite direction. Dang it! I just missed it! I facepalm myself as I walk back to the temple behind the others. It must've been a loud facepalm because all of them stop in their tracks.
"What was that?" Amethyst asks Steven and Pearl. "I don't know, but it sounded like it came from behind us." Steven says as he summons his shield. "Who's there?" He asks and I let out a sigh, "Its me." I close my eyes and become visible again. "Y/n!" They all shout in unison and runs towards me and gives me a hug. I hold back a cry of pain as they squeeze me, "Hey guys."
"Y/n, you're okay!" Steven says as he vanishes his shield and prevent tears from escaping. "Yeah, I'm okay." I say returning the hugs to them all. "What happened?" "You mean to tell us that you don't remember the fight?" Pearl asks breaking the hug. I hold myself at my ribs, "I mean, I remember bits and pieces, like Lapis and I dropping a barn on Blue and me threatening to do it again." I say with a chuckle, "But that's about it. Speaking of which, where is Lapis and Peri?" I look all around me, but when I look at Steven, he just frowns. "They got proofed."
"What?!" I say with a hiss. I'm furious. "That's it! I'm going to go find those old rocks and kill them!" I turn around and am about to storm off, until I feel a warm hand around my wrist. "Don't worry y/n, they'll be okay. They'll come back. Plus, we don't want to start another fight with the Diamonds because we just got them in our side." Steven says. My eyes go wide and I turn around. "What?"
~Time Skip back to the porch~
By the time we make it back to the porch, Steven has caught me up on everything, from Peri attacking Blue's face to the Diamonds finally recognizing that Steven is Pink. "At yi yi, I think I need a drink." I hold open the door to let them in and when I get inside, I see that Ruby and Sapphire is gone. "Where did my wives go?" "They were on the couch, they split after Garnet brought you in here and attended to your wounds." Steven says.
"How did I get so many of them? I was wearing armor?" "Blue Diamond kicked you so hard, that when you hit the cliffside, your armor broke on impact, then you landed on some huge rocks." Pearl informs me. "That would explain the broken ribs..." I mumble and they all look down at the floor with sad faces. "Don't worry you guys, it wasn't y'alls fault. I was the one who tried to be wonder boy/woman and hold Blue there." Amethyst chuckles a little, "Yeah, that one was on you." I punch her weakly and grunt. Then suddenly the warp pad illuminates and I see Ruby and Sapphire in a frenzy.
"Quick Sapphy! Look in his/her bedroom and I'll check over here! " On it." Sapphire then goes into my bedroom and Ruby heads over to Steven's room. Ruby throws stuff everywhere and checks under everything looking for me, until she comes to a halt in front of the magical door and Sapphire comes out. "He/she isn't anywhere in there!" Ruby grabs her hair, "Where could he/she be?!" "Maybe y'all should check outside." I say to them with a smirk. "Good thinking babe! Maybe he/she could be-" "Y/n!" They both recognize that I've been leaning on the counter and watching them the whole time and comes over and basically tackles me into a hug, but luckily I don't fall to the floor.
        "Woah! Hey there loves." I say as I return the hug. "Love, where were you?! We got up to check on you, but when we went and saw that the bed was empty, we freaked out. I couldn't even see you in my future vision!" "Yeah! We thought that you left us again!" Tears brink their eyes, so I kneel down and tilt their chins up so they can look at me. "Loves, I'm not going anywhere. I just had to go make sure that everyone was safe. I wipe away both of their stray tears, then kiss them both. White light illuminates between them, then the next thing I know, Garnet is hugging me. "Please tell us next time." She tightens our hug, "I will. I love you." She kisses me, "I love you too."
        We both rise to our feet and I wipe away a stray tear and kiss her forehead before I go to the fridge. Scavenging through the fridge, I don't see no steaks or anything. "Dang it. There ain't no blood." I hold my ribs and let out a wheeze. "Love are you okay?" I feel Garnet's hand on my shoulder and I rest my head on the freezer door. "Yeah, just got a few broken ribs, but that's all. I was going to drink blood from the steaks, but we don't have any."
       "Mmm... That's not true." I look over my shoulder at her confused. She then pulls open the drawer at the bottom of the fridge and I see a ton of blood in viles. "What the?" I say as she picks up one and gives it to me. "While you were knocked out, Steven convinced everyone in beach city to donate some blood for you. We had to tell them why though." She says kind of guilty.
          "Does everyone think I'm a monster now?" I say looking down at the floor sadly, but Garnet tilts my chin up and I look down at her. "Not at all, they were actually a little surprised, but intrigued and they completely accept you." She gives me a reassuring smile and I return a weak one. "Yeah! That's why Ronaldo created his blog 'Keep Beach City Weird'." Steven says as her parts the air with his hands, "They accept all the weirdness that comes here." "Well, except when the weirdness tries to kill them." Amethyst chimes in, being a buzz kill.
          I chuckle a little, not because of the weirdness trying to kill everyone, but because the whole city accepts me for once. That's a first. I close the drawer and the fridge door and I just stare down at the small vile in my hand. It says 'Garnet'. I smile, then I kiss her. "Thank you." She kisses me back, a little harder than mine, "You're welcome, but you should thank Steven. He did it and he already thanked the city for you too." I look over at him and he's holding his arm and blushing. I smirk and walk over to him.
         Kneeling down to his height, I look him straight in the eyes. "Steven, thank you for everything, from rescuing me to the umbrella to Garnet's and I's wedding to this and everything in between. You are such a wonderful and sweet kid, who always puts others before yourself. I am so lucky to have you in my life, not just as a friend or a team member, but as a brother as well. I love you." He let's out a stray tear and hugs me tightly, "I love you too." I squeeze him, then I break the hug and stand up. I then unscrew the lid of the vile and down the blood.
          "Eww." I hear Pearl say and look away, unlike Amethyst who says awesome and watches with sparkles in her eyes. Steven on the other hand, it looks like he's intrigued, but disgusted at the same time. I then lick my lips and groan, "Ahh, that was soo good." I turn and face Garnet and I give her a peck on the cheek, "Thanks love." Then I go and sit on the couch.
       Slowly, I can feel my ribs mend back together and I pop my back with a grunt. "So, what are we going to do now?" Garnet then comes over to me and throws me over her shoulder. "What the?" "We are going to go to bed and rest." "But love! I just got up!" I say squirming around to try to escape her grip. "And so did we." Amethyst is dying of laughter and I shoot her a death glare. "Yeah, you two go get some 'rest'," she says in air quotes, "Steven and I are going to play video games." Garnet stops in her tracks, "No, we all are going to bed. We're going to have a long day tomorrow." Amethyst opens her mouth to protest, but she soon closes it and accepts defeat because we all know that what Garnet says, goes.
          "Fine. Goodnight." She says rolling her eyes and Garnet and I enter my bedroom with the door closing behind us. She puts me down on the bed and fazes her clothes and visor off and I faze my clothes off as well. She snuggles up to me under the blankets and we just lay there. Her head is on my chest, while I let her hands wander wherever they please. My thumb brushes over her left arm and I hold on to her. She traces her fingers around my abs and hums.
          I let my eyes close and I try to focus on sleeping. "Love?" "Hmm?" I answer her without talking. "What is it like to die?" I slowly open my eyes and look down at her, "Why do you want to know?" She continues to trace my abs and sighs, "Because I felt lifeless when you were away and when you got hurt, not just tonight, but all the times before." I feel a tear land on my chest and I hold her tighter. "It felt lonely and scary." I pause for a moment, "When I died, time froze. I didn't see a bright light, all I saw was you and the others fighting my father. I didn't even realize that I was gone, until I tried to talk to you, but you couldn't hear me. When I realized that none of you couldn't hear or see me, I felt so scared. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to talk to you or to touch you again." I let a tear roll down my face. "I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to wake up with you again, laugh with you again, cry with you again, or spend my last breath you happily. I was so scared about not being around y'all again, that I wouldn't see Steven grow up, that I wouldn't see Amethyst get in funny and weird scenarios, while Pearl squawks at her again, that I wouldn't be able to let Pearl help me with her lessons and give me advice again, but most of all, I was scared that I wouldn't be with you again. They say death is the worst thing in life, but that's not true to me... Being alone is. That's how I felt when Ruby and Sapphire split up. When you split up because of an argument, it kills me and I love you all so much to see you split up like that. Every time that y'all argue and split, it kills me a little each time and its hard to try to put me back together because I'm like broken glass, when I'm broke, I'm broke, and if you try to pick me up, you're risking hurting yourself to try to save me."
       I feel a stream of tears run down my body and her some sniffles. I then lower my body down, so I can look at her face to face. The white in her eyes are now pink and I just cup my hand over her left cheek. "That's what it feels like." I kiss her softly on the lips, they're salty from the tears, but I don't care, they're still so sweet. She sniffles once again and let's out a shaky breath, "That's what it felt like for us too. Please don't ever leave us." I kiss her again, "I'll never leave you two, I'm too stubborn." I joke trying to lighten the mood and she cracks a little smile. "I'll stay as long as you allow me, but make me a promise." She looks at me straight in the eyes, "Anything." "Please, don't ever leave me like that ever again." My voice cracks, "You're all I got now, and I can't afford to lose you." A few tears roll down my face and she kisses them off. "We promise. We love you y/n m/n l/n." I smile, "I love you too Garnet." Then after we straighten up, we both fall asleep in each other's arms within minutes.
