                    ~Time Skip~
          "Finally! I have returned to New Orleans!" I step off the train, close my eyes and take in a deep breath with my arms wide open. "Finally! No more dying of boredom!" I peek my eye open to see Amethyst mimicking me. I shake my head and put down my arms, "Yeah they say New York is the city that never sleeps. Pssh. They probably never came down here to party central."
          "What do you mean y/n?" "How is this party central?" Steven and Connie ask me. "Yes love, please explain how this is party central." Garnet says and my cheeks heat up from all the memories of my father and my trips here, especially for Mardi Gras. I clear my throat, "Well let's see... The main reason why New Orleans is party central to me is Mardi Gras obviously." "Mardi Gras!" The kids exclaim with stars in their eyes. "You've been to Mardi Gras?!" They both yell in unison at me and I smirk. "Sure have, many times."
"What's Mardi Gras?" Pearl ask uneasily. I turn to face her, "Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, refers to events of the Carnival celebration, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three Kings Day) and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday (known as Shrove Tuesday). Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting for the Lenten season." I explain. "So, its basically a big party where you dance and eat whatever you want before a day that don't allow it?" Amethyst ask scratching her head. "Basically." "Sweet!" The kids and Amethyst give each other a three way high five.
          "Sorry to bust your bubbles kids, but we won't be experiencing Mardi Gras on this trip." I say and their facial expressions drop, "But why?" Steven asks for him and the others. "Because Mardi Gras isn't till February or March in some cases." "Awe man." They groan, but I smirk, "But don't worry guys, Ruth and I will keep y'all occupied by doing things that we did as kids." "They better be fun things or else..." Amethyst starts. "Or else what?" I challenge her with a smirk. "Or else-" "Or else they'll throw you in the swamp." I hear a familiar voice from behind me and turn to face her. "Well, it wouldn't be the first time would it?" I see Ruth wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and boots, crossing her arms over her chest. "Nor will it be the last." I give her a smile and walk over to her and hug her.
"But if I go down, you're going down with me." I give her a little squeeze as she returns the hug. "P-lease! You can't even catch me to drag me down with you." I give out a small chuckle, "Hey Ruth." "Hi y/n." We break the hug and I stand beside her, "Everyone Ruth. Ruth everyone." I introduce them again and it doesn't take long for them to get acquainted with one another.
         Steven and Connie run up to her with stars in their eyes, "Wow! Its so nice to finally meet you!" "Yeah! You're a real life," Connie drops her voice to a low whisper because there is a few people around us, "werewolf!" I look over at Ruth and she has our family signature smirk going for her, "We just met and I already have fans." I roll my eyes and smirk, "You should've seen their faces when I told them what I was." "A nerd?" She chuckles and my eyes roll again, "You and Amethyst are going to get along just fine." Speaking of Amethyst, she makes her way over to us along with Garnet and Pearl.
        "Yo, what up she wolf?" Amethyst slaps her hand in a low five and trails it off with a snap of her fingers. "Oh, you know, the sky." "Yeah, its way up there." Pearl extends her hand for a handshake, "Its nice to make your acquaintance Ruth." "Likewise Pearl." She returns the shake and drops it, but her hand doesn't stay empty for long. Garnet gives her a nice firm handshake, "Thanks for taking care of our y/n." "It was my honor ma'am and I appreciate him/her taking care of me. I know my wife and child certainly does." They drop the shake and to my surprise, Garnet hugs her, but I think that surprised everyone. Ruth gladly returns it though and after a minute of the embrace, they break it off.
"Speaking of the Mrs.'s and kids, we should head on back home... Its way too early for the kids to be up." She thumbs over to Steven and Connie and my eyes follow her. They're beginning to yawn, but I don't blame them, it is three a.m. "Yeah, they're going to be all hyped by the stay here, so we... I mean they need all the rest they can get." I swoop them both up in my arms while Pearl grabs their luggage. "Then let's get going." The kids wrap both of their arms around my neck and all of us head to Ruth's old pickup truck. I sit the kids up front and Pearl joins them. Amethyst shapeshifts into a smaller version of herself and sits on Pearls lap, and Garnet and I are stuck in the back, but we don't mind. It isn't a long drive there.
             After Ruth gets us up and going on the road, I lean back near the back of the cab and let Garnet lean back between my legs. Crickets, frogs, and other critters sing in the moist air as the stars illuminate the night sky. I have my arms wrapped around Garnet and holding her in place, especially when Ruth takes a right turn going down a bumpy gravel road. "You can tell we aren't in the city anymore." Garnet says and I just laugh, "Yeah, but you'll get used to it."
        I look back into the truck and see the kids and Amethyst is fast asleep and Pearl and Ruth is just making small talk. After a few more miles, the road smooths out and we can finally relax. "I like it rough, but that's a little too rough." Garnet says and my face heats up, "Y-You do?" She leans her head up at me with a smile, "I do," her smile drops, "but I know that you're afraid of whips, so I don't mention using toys in the bedroom." I kiss her, "Babe, we can do anything you want in the bedroom or outside it if we're feeling adventurous. We just won't use whips." She turns around and sits on my lap with a smile, "Really love?" I peck her lips, "I'd do anything for you." She kisses me deeply, but our moment is cut short by the smell of smoke and the truck suddenly coughing. "Crap."
