Sleep didn't come easily to me last night. The feeling of me sleeping on my enemies's territory made me toss and turn all night. If it wasn't for Garnet holding me in place, I would've probably been squirming all over the room. I hate being in new territory that I know is home to my enemies. Fluttering my eyes open from a restless sleep, I see the love of my life holding onto me as if she's protecting me. By the way her eyelids are relaxed, it looks like she's sleeping calmly though. My eyes scan the dark room around me and I see that everyone is still asleep. I don't even attempt to go back to sleep because it would be useless, so I decide to get up. The Peebles have made a king sized bed, along with some pillows and blankets for Garnet and I, in a corner of the pink room. The slight light of dawn shines through the balcony clearing, shining a dim path into the room and acts as a flashlight so I can see where I'm going so I won't bump into anyone or anything. Carefully, I untangle Garnet's arms from my body and I ease myself out of bed in my pink suit. I was just too tired to change out of it last night, so I just slept in it. Slipping on my white dress shoes, I make my way over towards the balcony, stepping over a sleeping Amethyst in the process. I don't want to step on the land mine.
When I get over to the balcony, I lean forward on the railing and let out a sigh. "Why do we have to be here? Why can't we just go home?" As I look out at the new scenery that I have to learn to get used to, I can't help, but think of my mom and my new family. How could they have come from such a horrible and strict place? All of the gems here are so brainwashed and fearful of the Diamonds that they'd do anything the Diamonds want them to do. And that even counts for all the animated objects that should be non-animate. I saw how those yellow columns in the hallway acted when Steven tried to communicate with them. They were all chatter until he caught them in the act, then they froze up in fear. The Diamonds has everyone so controlled as their own little puppets. I can understand why Pink left. Nobody should live like they're prisoners. But then again, if they try to do something about it, the Diamonds would come and 'fix' the problem by themselves if needed. Pink and the Cluster is a perfect example of that, but if it wasn't for Pink and the others, including my mom fighting for what they believed in, I wouldn't be here, nor Steven, nor anyone else of my gem family. Sigh. I just wanna go home.
A small breeze blows by my face, reminding me of the cool breeze of the ocean, but instead of feeling cool and relaxing, I feel fear and sadness in a warm breeze. Pushing myself up from the marble balcony, I feel the urge to express my feeling in song. Steven and the others may have rubbed off on me, I admit, but at least its something to ease my troubled mind. So, I hop onto the railing and lay down on my back. My right leg dangles off the cold marble and I use my right arm as a head support. My left arm on the other hand, just rests promptly on my abdomen. I let out a sigh as I get comfy and start to sing.

"Y/n?" I let out a small sigh as I hear Garnet approach me. "Yeah, I'm here." Unfortunately. My eyes don't leave the sky even as I hear her come within a foot of me, "Are you okay?" I turn my head to the right. White Diamond's ship stands there in the distant, shining brighter than the others. The planet's Sun is starting to show itself a little more and I have to turn my head back up to avoid it. "I'm fine." That's a lie. "Y/n." Finally my eyes peer over to see my beautiful wife, wrapped up in a pink blanket cape. "You're missing home, aren't you?" She knows me too well. I just nod and turn my attention back up to the sky. "I don't want to be here, that's for sure." "Neither do we," Her hand comes over and begins stroke her fingers through my hair, "but we must. For Earth." I look up at her as she stares off into the distance from above me. It must be hard for her to come back after all these years. I can't imagine what she's feeling. Rising up, I reposition myself so she's standing up between my legs as I sit. I take her by the hands and kiss all three rings she has on her fingers. One of them, being promised to me forever and the other two, being promised to herself and believing in everything she fought for. Her half lidded eyes beam down into mine as she lets a pleased smile cross her face. She pulls me forward to her chest and I close my eyes and relax to the sound of her beating heart. "We love you Y/n." I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her closer, if that's even possible, "I love y'all too." We stay like this for a moment or two before we hear grumbling. "Yo G? Are you and Y/n out there?" Amethyst uses a small inside voice for once to ask us something. "Yes, we'll be right in." "You two can take all the time you want out there Garnet. No rush." I give the air a little smile at Pearl's so called permission and look up at Garnet. "How long do we got until the rugrats wake up?" She let's out a small hum, "Not long. Let's head inside." I don't even attempt to fight with her. We both part after we steal a kiss or two from one another and walk back into the room, hand in hand. Let's just get this day over with.
                     *Time Skip*
"A ball? We haven't had a ball in six thousand years." Yellow seems a little amused at Steven's idea of throwing a party. Yet again, I stand invisible beside Steven as he confronts the Diamonds. I'm here for backup, just in case anything goes bad. "We haven't had Pink in six thousand years." Big Blue on the other hand, is all for it. "Yeah, when White shows up, we can tell her we need her help on Earth." Blue is all smiles for once, "And this could also mark the beginning of era three. "You're right. It's brilliant." Yellow says with a lifted finger. My mouth drops a little. Yellow actually agrees with Steven for once? Especially, about having a ball at that? Is the world ending? Hopefully Homeworld might be. Fingers crossed. I hate this place. "Thank you Yellow! Thank you Blue!" "White is going to be there. Everything has to be perfect. Pink, can you manage this on your own?" He managed to throw Garnet's and my wedding, and Ruby and Sapphire's. I believe he can throw a universal ball. "Our Pearls can help you get started." And just as Blue says it, her's and Yellow's Pearls appear in a warp of blue. "At your service Pink Diamond." Blue Pearl says in her normal whisper tone. "Make sure you go over all of our customs with Pink' since she has so much trouble recalling her past here on Homeworld." He Yellow, he. "Yes my Diamond." "Era three. Steven, you're already changing the world." Our Pearl says in gladness. "Yeah! Come on party Pearls!" "We are at your command Pink Diamond." Both Blue and Yellow Pearl says in unison. Oh no, not this again. I roll my eyes in annoyance. "Just call me Steven." He says with an annoyed frown. "Whatever you command, Pink Diamond." Ugh.
After Blue and Yellow leave the room, I can finally turn visible, "Finally." The two other Pearls jump a little when I make myself known. I crack my neck with a smile, then offer my hands to each of them, "Y/n, nice to meet you." Blue Pearl blushes some, but accepts my right hand, "Pearl." At first, Yellow Pearl gives me a disgusted look, but eventually accepts my left out of at least some respect for Steven. "Pearl." They both drop their hands, but gets on the defensive when Pearl brings out the others in three orbs of white light. "Gah! There's more!" Yellow Pearl whines as Amethyst and Connie settles at Steven's side, while Garnet greets my lips with a kiss. "How many more are they?!" I smirk as the small group and I make our way over to the steps, "Just us... For now." Garnet squeezes my hand a little with a little grin. I knew that would cheer her up.
We all sit on the white steps, except for Blue and Yellow Pearl. "So Steven, what do we need to get to get this party started?" I ask for the crowd. "Balloons everywhere! Confetti cannons too!" "Dibs on being the confetti cannon." I smirk at Amethyst's offer, "As long as I can fire you." Garnet chuckles some. "Deal." "Cannons are forbidden inside palace walls." And there goes the party pooper. "These balloons you're referring to, are unpresidented and out of the question." Dang it Yellow Pearl, what can we have? "So, what is presidented and therefore in the question?" I couldn't asked better myself Steven. Yellow Pearl raises a finger, "You are to sit on your elevated throne, while the members of your court indicate to you that they are present." "Yeesh, that sounds pretty dry." Preach Ame, preach. "Liquids are forbidden in the ballroom." I facepalm myself. "Alright." Steven looks back at 'his' throne and starts jumping up to it. Our small group migrates to floor while Yellow Pearl escorts Steven up the stairs. I hold Garnet from behind embracing her in a passionate, but soothing hug.
We all listen to Yellow Pearl explain to Steven of how the introduction ceremony will go down. He, along with the other Diamonds, have the right to judge who can come into their presence. That's just wrong. Everyone should be accepted, no matter who, or what they are. I'm so caught up in thought, that I don't even notice Steven jumping down to us, along with Yellow Pearl. I just try to block her out in general. "Oh, so, I'll just wait until I get the chance to talk to her on the dancefloor." "Pink Diamond! Your subjects will do the dancing for you. Why would a Diamond want to dance?" She asks with a smug look on her face. "Cause dancing is fun." "What is ffffun?" (Cue the F.U.N. song🤣) Connie answers her question for the small group, "You know, its when you do something you want to do, just because it feels good." Yellow and Blue Pearl look at each other, then back to us, "I don't think we do that here." I roll my eyes, of course you don't. "Well, is there something here you really like to do?" Yellow Pearl throws up her hands and chuckles a bit, "Oh, of course not. My feelings are irrelevant." "I like to draw." My eyes widen a bit as a smile crawls onto my face. Blue Pearl is actually talking and smiling. Where's a camera when I need it.
Yellow Pearl almost has a heart attack, "W-What?!" "Can I see some of your stuff?" I think we're all interested. Blue Pearl smiles and pulls out her hologram tablet, "Um, here. My Diamond allows me to draw during court proceedings. They're nothing much." Well that's sweet of Blue and her drawings aren't that bad. "Let me see that." Yellow snags the hologram tablet and starts swiping through the drawings, complaining about how she can't share them, until it lands on an apparent drawing of her. "Hmm. Not bad." She gives the tablet back to Blue Pearl, "Try a different angle." Yellow Pearl starts to pose. My eyes roll again and I can't help but mumble some, "Oh brother." Steven laughs, "Haha, that's it. You like being a model." He then looks at Blue Pearl, "And you like being an artist." They both start to laugh and I have to admit that makes me feel good. I'm glad to see them happy.
Unfortunately, that small bit of happiness doesn't last long as I see a huge shadow appear from behind us. "Pink, why aren't you getting ready?" We all turn around to see no one other than Blue. I drop my hug from Garnet, but I still have her in my hand. "I guess I am ready if all I have to do is sit in a chair." She looks kindof shocked and annoyed, "Are you really going to look like this, even at the ball?" "I can't really help it." Her gaze leaves Steven for a moment to look at us, "You weren't thinking of inviting your "Earth friends", are you?" "Why wouldn't I?" I think that did it for Blue. She lowers her hands and separates Steven from the rest of us. "Steven!" All of us say in unison. I extract my fangs and hiss at her, "Where's another barn?! I'm going to get it and throw it at you, if you don't keep your hands to yourself lady!" A semi-shocked expression makes its way on her face, "You wouldn't dare." "Try me." I guess she takes my threat seriously and lifts her hands. "They can't come? Aren't they my court or whatever?" "Pink, quit fooling around! White Diamond is going to be there! We have to present her with our best possible selves, just as our gems have to present us with their best possible selves. A ball is a chance to inspire everyone!" "But my friends are super inspiring! They'll inspire White, too. Together we can make a case for Earth!" Yeah, I'll inspire White with violence when I get my hands on her.
"Very well, you can bring your Pearl, of course and your pets." "Uhhh, pets?" "I think she means me and Y/n." Connie speaks for me as I retract my fangs. I roll my eyes, "Woof. Woof." "As for this faulty Amethyst..." Ame rolls her eyes, "Oh boy, here it comes." "She'll need limb enhancers to meet her height requirements. The Sapphire will need to enter with the other Sapphires of course, and the Ruby will need to enter with the guard." My eyes widen and I look at Garnet, then back at her, "Wait. What?" "Woah, woah, woah. Are you talking about Garnet?" Blue starts to chuckle at Steven's question, "Garnet? Does "that"," she points at my beautiful wife, "call herself a Garnet? What would you have her do? Enter with the Demantoids, the Hessonites, the Pyropes? Pink, I'm being very generous, but you can't expect me to-" "I won't go." Steven and I glance at her, "Garnet?" I look back at Blue with anger in my eyes, "Then I'm not going either." I give Garnet's hand a squeeze and she returns it. My eyes then peer back at Steven apologetically. He knows I won't go without her. "At least the Sapphire in there has some sense." My eyes meet Blue's again, "That's it!" I start to launch at her, but Garnet holds me back. Garnet at I both growl at her, but she won't let me go to do anything else to her. "Ummmm." Steven tries to come up with something for the awkwardness. "Pink! Are you going to bring in the ball?" "What?" Blue is now more annoyed, "Ugh, I'll take care of it. I'll take care of everything. Come, Pearl!" Both Pearls run and follow Blue out of the room. "Yeah! You better run!" I yell out, but she don't hear it because she's out of earshot.
After the room falls silent and Garnet lets go of me, except for my hand, which she has a good grip on, Steven walks over to us. "Garnet? Y/n?" "Y/n, you are going. I'll find you all when it's over." I look at her in disbelief, "I am not going anywhere without you." She lets out an aggravated sigh, "Yes you are. You have to watch the others and protect them just in case something happens." "There's no way in-" Steven interrupts me, "I thought we'd get to do this together!" I take a deep breath, "Steven, I'm sorry, but I'm not going anywhere without my wives." I squeeze her hand, but she doesn't acknowledge it back. "Steven, this is your chance to talk to White, she's not going to listen to me but she might listen to Pink." "And she'll listen when I tell her about you! Once I talk to White Diamond, I'll change everything. I promise." He's such an optimist about everything. That's one thing I love about him, but right now, I can't even think straight about anything. I'm still mad at Blue for insulting my wives that I'm still seeing red and it doesn't help when Garnet releases my hand and storms off in a random direction into a hallway. "Dude, you should go talk to her." Ame says as she places a hand on my forearm. "Yeah, maybe you can convince her to come!" Connie says with enthusiasm. "Yeah, I want both my Earth and Space family to be together." I look at all their faces and they all have small smiles on them. "Go to them Y/n. They'll listen to you more than anybody. You're their husband/wife." I sigh, but nod at Pearl's command, then I make my way towards the exit where Garnet left with a slight run.
