Short Story #51 - Reading Nook - Annabeth and Percy

Percy straightens the last pillow as he hears the door unlock. It creeks open and Annabeth calls out, "Honey! I'm home!"

"How was your girls' weekend with Piper, Hazel, Thalia, Calypso, and the rest?" he asks.

"It was fun!" she responds.

"Awesome. I have a surprise for you..." Percy trails off. He steps away from the front door to reveal the reading nook.

Annabeth's eyes grow wide as she soaks in the beautiful sight. There are shelves lining the walls from floor to ceiling. There is an adorable little circular bed/lounger with a knitted owl blanket thrown over the top. A sea-green lamp with an adjustable neck towers over the bed. Pillows line the walls. The shelves have all of her books on there, arranged by author and genre, and there is plenty of room to spare.

Annabeth squeals and throws herself at Percy. "Did you do this?" she asks with happy tears in her eyes.

"Yeah. I remember you talking about wanting one, and I figured it would be a good surprise," he rubs the back of his neck and blushes slightly.

"It's wonderful. What's the occasion?" she compliments.

"Us," he responds quickly before dropping Annabeth's bags and picking her up before throwing her onto the bed.

She giggles and squirms as he slowly moves over her. His hand reaches out and grabs the nearest book before dropping down next to her, crossing his legs, and opening the book to a random page.

"You tease!" Annabeth lightly punches his arm as he chuckles and puts the book down.

"I got you a new book I know you had been dying to read. It came out on the 11th," he says as he pulls out "The Bane Chronicles" by Cassandra Clare. (A/N: IT'S SO AMAZING!! I'M READING IT RIGHT NOW!)

"OH MY GODS!!!!!" Annabeth fangirls as she grabs to book and strokes the cover. "I love you so much."

"I love you too." Percy responds as Annabeth snuggles into him and opens the book. The sound of the spine crackling and the smell of the new pages overwhelms her and she sighs happily as her eyes start to soak in the reading material.

Percy starts to play with her hair and their legs wind together. Their bodies fit together perfectly and the snow outside drifts to the ground in completely original snowflakes.
