"Alright campers. Gather around," Chiron says. "By popular demand, we are going to be playing Capture the Flag today. Since Rick's readers want us to, and I figured why not, we are doing the same teams as the night Percy came to this camp with one exception. Poseidon and Athena are on opposite teams."
A murmur goes around the camp as the teams are listed off. The only one that truly sticks in their minds is the fact that the Athena cabin and the Poseidon cabin are against each other."
"Gather in your teams and discuss strategies. The game starts in 20 minutes," Chiron announces.
Percy winks at Annabeth as he walks by her group. She just smiles, knowing that she will win against him.
Once each team had their plans in place and the 20 minutes were up, the horn sounded. Each side rushed towards the other and clashed, swinging weapons left and right.
Percy, on the other hand, ran away from the main battle and travelled up to the stream. He knows where the Athena cabin always hides it. (It's always the hardest spot to get to on their side.)
When he comes are the bend, guess what he sees. Yep, that's right. A tuna fish sandwich. He. Is. Horrified. Who would do such a terrible thing to an innocent fish?
He comes out of the hallucination quickly and shakes his head as to clear his thoughts. Darn sleep god kids. They always mess with peoples brains.
Percy is finally able to look up again and what he sees takes his breath away. No, it is not Annabeth. (We're not running a cliché story here... Oh wait...) It's the flag.
But there is always a catch. That catch falls from the tree and lands in front of him gracefully.
"So, we meet again?" Annabeth jokes.
"It had been a while, hasn't it," Percy comments back. They circle each other with weapons held at the ready.
"Remember how the first time we met here, it was also the first time I'd lost?" she asks.
"Of course I remember. And you didn't lose much," he slyly says.
"What did I not lose, may I ask?" she questions once again.
"Well, you gained me and I eventually won the best thing of all," Percy says blushing the tiniest bit.
"What is that?" she asks, buying time with the playful banter.
"You," he says quickly before grabbing her waist and kissing her.
"You just got my shoes soaking wet dude," she complains.
"Sorry," he responds, picking her up and setting her down on her side of the river.
"We can dry off later," he says.
"Or you can," she points to his completely dry body.
"Oops," he can't help but smile.
All of a sudden, the victory horn is sounded. Annabeth's team has won.
"Never underestimate the powers of Athena," she says before pecking him on the lips and going to collect her prize once again.
"Annabeth never loses, and she'll never lose me," Percy says to himself as he walks after her, clicking Riptide back into a pen.
